- M2:
- My approach to M2: You need to respect his tail at all costs. Dtilt and Utilt are basically better versions of Marth's tilts. They combo into themselves and typically into fair for ridiculous damage. You want to play outside this range at basically all times. Your goal is going to be to run in and out and force him to make a play. Ideally when he does you'll be able to go back in and punish. Landing on his shield in font of him is a no-no. Fair OoS is scary and CAN kill. Landing behind him is bad, but not horrible imo, since no one but Aba can do the nair > fs > disable kill. However, if you do have time to shield the nair, hold shield until he ACTUALLY lands. He has a landing hitbox, too, so be prepared for that. Once he does you need to punish as hard as you can. It's got quite a bit of lag so it's not a huge stretch to get anywhere from 10 to 40% off of one shielded nair.
- Uairs eat him alive and kill super early. If you're below M2 he doesn't have any really good landing options other than air dodge (of which he can do 2 in a second, btw) so he'll be very liberal about using it. There's no reason you can't bait it out and nair/uair him for doing so. If he decides to land with nair you can stand underneath and shield it or if he's really high up you can beat it out with uair. Nair's hitbox is tiny compared to our uair/bair so just make sure you space well and you'll be fine. He's one of 3 characters who can move while air dodging (Ness and Lucas being the other 2) so put a hitbox where he will drift to, not where he will fall to. When he's recovering he has a lot of mixups so just make sure you stand a little away from the ledge. He'll uair/bair you if you're too close and then once you start holding shield he'll just use confusion. Just let him grab ledge tbh. If you're good at pp it's a good idea to stay a pp distance away and then just pp in once he grabs ledge and then do Fox things to him once he's there.
- Oh and don't get grabbed at 120%. At all costs. Uthrow will kill. Last thing, don't even bother reflecting a fully charged shadow ball unless you can jc the shine consistently. They're trying to bait that out so they can reflect it and kill it. It's literally a lose-lose situation for us. 9/10 it's not even worth it. And yes, a re-reflected shadow ball DOES break our reflector AND shield.

- Some advice when fighting Sonic
- Sonic's spindash is quite punishable by using uair, bair or nair if he decides to jump in the air. If he stops right in front of you, try to react fast to it so you can punish with jabs, tilts, or if they are at high percent, usmash or dsmash. Sonic's fair is a good move that shuts down any approaches that include short hops and full hops, so do not do so many near him, since he'll just beat it out with his aerials. His fair is one frame faster than your nair, so you might be able to beat it if you do it earlier than he does. His aerials can be baited out by using tricky movement to make him think that he can punish you, so you can bounce back and hit him when he least expects it. Careful when fighting Sonic near the ledge at high percent. If you see them near the ledge, they will more than likely be waiting for you to commit to something so they can bthrow you offstage, in which they can kill you with bair, spring and other jank. Also, please do not airdodge if he gets you with a uair at high percent, since that can be baited with another uair, which will kill you (or if he does a seagull joe/SGK, they will go for dair, and the statup is just the perfect amount for them to hit you). Uair>uair is not a true combo at that percent, and is more of a read. At low percent, Sonic's nair acts like a combo breaker, so when doing utilt strings, try to shield after 1-2 utilts and then shield the nair, then either grab, or keep going with utilts. Sonic has quite a hard time landing, and his AC dair can be beaten with uair. If you see Sonic go for a Dair from a big height, quickly go to where he will land and uair, since the hitbox actually ends before he lands when autocanceling, so you wont get hit by anything. When you get Sonic in the air, you want to keep juggling him, and dont let him back down. This can get pretty easy % on Sonic.(edited)
- Some advice when fighting Sonic pt. 2
- Finally, try to 2 frame his upB with utilt at the ledge. It's easier to do it on him, since he doesn't have a hitbox when doing his upB. if you get the 2 frame, combo it into bair, and that should kill him pretty early, since his upB doesn't have too much horizontal recovery. O shit forgot to mention this: Sonic players LOVE space, so be sure to gain stage control by keeping yourself at the centre of the stage so you can limit their options, making it easier for you to punish any overcommitments and start combos.
