  1. "Oh my God, Dru, I can't believe you sat there all night politely listening to Alyisa go all Gender Studies 101 powerpoint on you. I'm soooo sorry," Babs purred as they pulled into the driveway, her face flush and brain buzzing from a night at the bar. "I promise next time I'll remember to pull you away."
  2.
  3. "Nah, you were having fun jumping around to the music. Besides, it was better than half the bands. I'm still not sure what ambicore post-electronica means." He brushed the hair from Bab's face and kissed her softly on the lips before kissing the tip of her nose, causing the redhead's face to crinkle as she giggled.
  4.
  5. They stepped out of the car, Babs wobbling slightly as she struggled to put on Dru's jacket, eventually winding up sitting on the hood where she raised her arms in victory over the sleeves.
  6.
  7. "You're great. Tonight was great." She grabbed his hand as he sat down next to her and lay her head on his shoulder. "I'm gonna tell you something, but first you have to promise you won't think I sound like a bitch," she whispered. Before he could answer she continued, "I"m so glad Kitten is spending the night at her friends and isn't here right now. Ugh, that was bitchy, I sound like a bitch. I just get so tired of-"
  8.
  9. "Of dealing with her 13 year old bullshit?" Dru interrupted.
  10.
  11. Babs smacked him on the thigh, "It's not bullshit! It's just, I don't know, being a shit?" Babs laid back and covered her eyes with her hands, "I"m sorry I called Kitten a shit, please don't be mad."
  12.
  13. Dru laid down beside her, slowly slipping his fingers under her shirt and gently teasing her bellybutton, "You're cute when you're drunk."
  14.
  15. "Mr. Walker, you're having unseemly thoughts aren't you?"
  16.
  17. "Guilty."
  18.
  19. "Good."
  20.
  21. "To the bedroom?"
  22.
  23. Babs rolled over on top him and kissed him deeply, "how about the backyard?"
  24.
  25. Suddenly the front lights turned on, bathing the lovers in a bright, harsh glow. Babs slipped off the cars and into a ready stance, the warm glow of drunkeness already replaced by a cold sobriety. Out from the shadow of the front doorway stepped a blonde woman, the corners of her mouth upturned with a sly and sadistic mirth. Babs turned to Dru, only to be caught off guard by his countenance, a placid mask barely covering a tired and resigned fury.
  26.
  27. The woman spoke softly, each word dripping haughtiness like feathers floating down, "Sorry to interrupt you two, but I didn't want anything indecent to happen in public. Didn't mean to frighten, got into town hours ago and since you weren't here I decided to let myself in."
  28.
  29. "She's not here. So go away."
  30.
  31. "Rude. Well, when Kitten gets back from her sleepover you'll let me know, won't you darling. A girl needs some quality time with her mother." With that the woman sauntered down the drive way towards a car parked on the street. Turning to face Babs as she walked past, she smirked and let out a derisive chortle. "A bit young for him, aren't you dear?"
