  12. There is much to say, but I can't honestly give it justice without writing pages upon pages for this build. The short version, however... well. Being a man at the dawn of mankind in this world was definitely interesting. Not just watching from the sidelines, but actively participating in their establishment. Ire was easy to attain from darker quarters - when trying to turn other men away from him, he took note of me, and turned his followers on me. But that was fine - I left with some of the other groups of mankind who went in different directions.

  14. I did not age, however, nor did Demona or the thousand-or-so who believed in me. (Though, at my request, they didn't propagate belief in me as a cult here - after all, there were local gods here, and I didn't want to usurp their role.) And so we crafted other identities over time. This fooled nearly everyone. Man. Dwarf. Elf. There were a handful of exceptions, mind, among elves and dwarves. But the higher levels of creation... well, they had no illusions about me being one of the local Men. They weren't quite sure what to make of me, but they weren't fooled. And it was this that kindled the dark's wrath even further. I was the first of those who had no place in their Creation, to Morgoth, and as such I must have come from outside - which meant that he wanted everything that I could have, for his own gain and for that of his servants. To free him from the chains of fate and the limitations of his nature.

  16. Did anyone ever mention that Middle Earth was a frightening place in its past? Because it most certainly was. Oh, when my back was against the wall I was able to use abilities that could match any of them, but dealing with beasts and dragons and effectively angels turned to wickedness... well. I'm not ashamed to say that I fled from that. That we all fled. My presence did not disrupt much of the grand design, no matter how nice it might have been. Instead, I was for the most part relegated to witness what happened, even as allies of the darkness came for me, sometimes more seriously than others. I witnessed wars, the rise and fall of kingdoms. I saw the ages turn. I met the Maiar who were sent to help the world stand against evil, and even joined them. And in the end, I was there when I saw Sauron fall; I got to see the strength of Men fail that day. And no words could turn Isildur away from the corrupting influence of the Ring.
