  1. A first viola was once recognised for hounding his conductor regarding this and that minor technicality of performance and expression. He merely wanted to be noticed and gain greater recognition for his art.

  3. Eventually the conductor grew so annoyed with the perpetual imposition that be burned down the viola player's house. It was an act of cold-blooded arson, and a sloppy one at that.

  5. The viola player returned home that night, having attended his usual counselling and support group for such folk, and was approached by the police. They said "There's good news and bad news. The bad news is that we managed to rescue your violas. The good news is that we caught your conductor leaving the scene with enough empty petrol cannisters to fuel an aircraft carrier for a week."

  7. Wide-eyed and visibly excited, the viola player responds:
