Uncomfortable home truths about Varoufakis

Having always enjoyed the weekend edition of the FT, I found myself practically gagging over my coffee as I read the article on Yanis Varoufakis (House & Home, April 14/15).

The author seems to be enamoured of the couple’s lifestyle and narcissism. One would expect the FT to be more interested in Mr Varoufakis as the former finance minister and his role in the negotiations that left a good many Greeks ashamed of their government’s behaviour and horrified at the ease with which capital controls were installed.

That Mr Varoufakis feels no shame and no responsibility is to be expected. What is less understandable is the unqualified admiration evident in the article.
