Emotions: (Emotions are very important in social engineering. The best way to do this is by making the representative create a sympathetic feeling for you, this meaning that she/he will make you happy by giving you what you want).


Background: (This is displaying why you want the account. I used the words “My Xbox 360 is broken so I had to buy a new one, and when I tried to sign in on my account it said that the information is not valid?”).


will also make the representative want to help you because the product that they made, has just broke on you.

Keeping a steady tone of voice: You will definitely want to keep calm, steady and quite a sad voice too. You want to sound like you are really upset that you cannot sign into your account. This will again create a sympathetic feeling for the support representative.

Really playing with emotions: Playing with emotions can be a very awkward thing but can have amazing results. When speaking to the representative you need to hit him/her right in the heart. You need to make him/her feel like that they are about to cry.

 I used the words “My father has recently deceased, and I made the Xbox 360 account with him. *Start sobbing a little* then you say: I just really hope that I can get the account back, If I don’t get the account back I will lose all memory of him as he was always away at work, and Xbox was the only time I ever really spoke to him".

 Or “My mother was recently diagnosed with Leukaemia, the first Xbox I had was bought by her, the one I created the account on. She was there when I did it, as she was worried about a few things. She read the terms of service, and kept going over it, asking me questions like all parents do.

Say this like you’re extremely sad, say this believably, and so that your point gets across. You don’t want to be blunt such as: “My Mum is dead, and she made that account, so give me it back.” And you also do not want to go too far into detail, as that will only make it sound very unbelievable.

 Try thinking up your own stories, try thinking up what you want to say, and expect questions that you will need to think of right away, don’t stutter, stuttering will instantly put scepticism into their mind, just make a crying noise, and believably say: “I’m sorry, could you please say that again?”.

Don’t say it perfectly, say it like you’re crying, when you cry, sometimes it is hard to say what you want, so act like that. If you do mess up, stutter, or have any problems, hang up, and recall!
