  3. Mandela and his struggle against Apartheid
  4. 1. Mandela's Early life was that of a Prince, and thus, He had strong feelings of Self Confidence. 2. Mandela became interested in the politics surrounding his college campus.
  5. 3. Mandela was tried for treason because he promoted resist against Apartheid.
  6. 4. Mandela served 27 years of prison as a political prisoner of Apartheid.
  7. 5. In 1994, South Africa had it's first all-race elections.
  8. 6. Mandela wanted a democracy governed by all the races of South Africa. Mandela was an African Patriot because he led his people against a corrupt government and helped establish democracy in South Africa.

  10. 1. The tales the elders of Mandela's tribe told influenced him to help free South Africans.
  11. 2a. Africans wanted higher wages, less hard work, work of their choice, and residence near their job, no curfew, free travel, and political rights. 2b. Black South Africans were confined to live in very specific areas, and were not allowed to live anywhere they wanted.

  43. 4. I agree, even if the media holds the influence, it is still the people themselves who fight the indecency.

  46. 1. Many people believed that democracy in India would fail because of the diversity, poverty, and illiteracy.
  47. 2. India has overcome 5 external invasions and remained non-aligned.
  48. 3. Gandhi believes that the country would stop functioning without her declaration of a state of emergency.
  49. 4. Gandhi's actions wouldn't be justified in a democratic society. If this were to happen in the U.S. a second civil war would likely ensue, similar in origins of the political causes of the first one. Gandhi could have very easily made an address to the Parliament, or to the people before resorting to such drastic means.
