{marihilda; prompt 49 – before bed kiss}

Hilda already lost count on how many nights she spend on Marianne’s room instead of hers when they were back for the fallen Garreg Mach Monastery. And, no, it’s not like her old room is broken because of the bandit breaching like Lorenz’s, she just find that sometimes too lonely to sleep by herself.

On top of her lame excuses, though, Marianne never minded.

The bed might be small for two, but it is always cozy as they started to snuggle. Usually, Marianne would be back later to her room after a late prayer. Sometimes, Hilda would wait at the church until Marianne is finished before they were back hand-in-hand. At times, Hilda would be too preoccupied with the task Claude handed to her that it is Marianne’s turn to wait at the Admiral’s room until Hilda is done. There was one occasion when they were both somewhere doing different chores as well, but at the end of the day, Marianne’s room would be Hilda’s pick to spend the night.

Perhaps it is because the bluenette’s room is closer to the staircase? Actually, no. She just liked Marianne’s room … despite sometimes it would be really untidy.

“Hilda.”

“Hmm?”

They were snuggling together below the sheets tonight as well when Marianne whispered to cut their silence away from enjoying each other’s company. The taller woman would always hug her, or soothing some part of her skin that was injured from battles by the day. Hilda knew how Marianne is not someone of too many words and would keep everything in easy quietness for her as the day should already be tiring enough so she won’t dare to speak. Then again, if Marianne wanted her to say something or initiate a conversation, Hilda would surely embrace the idea.

“Can I … be selfish for tonight?”

Oh? “And what that might be? Are you requesting a payback for all the healings you were done to me?”

“N-No! Of, of course not!” her voice came as one pitch higher squeak, Hilda couldn’t help but to giggle. She is sorry to be teasing Marianne, yet that sorry feeling only comes rarely. Hilda enjoyed every bits of Marianne’s reaction, after all.

“Can I have a goodnight kiss?”

Hilda was sure she is choking, hard.

“… I can’t?”

The pinkette scrambled for replies. She sat upright, “No! Absolutely not! I mean, not because ‘you can’t’! You can! I can give you lots of kisses!”

As much as she wanted to ask where the suggestion came from, Hilda didn’t want to destroy the mood. In response to her reply, Marianne was having her laugh. It was a merry sound, like a clink coming from a bell.

“Oh, Hilda.”

Hilda dived back to her rightful position on the bed, swallowing her own embarrassment somewhere before sneaking their lips to connect under the pristine white sheets until she lost count at how much time she spent on giggling and stealing more kisses.
