Act 1
Grey meets Naomi while out gathering supplies. Grey is walking down a street when Naomi contacts him via the radio inside a derelict police cruiser. She warns him that the path ahead is full of zombies. From her position on the church clocktower, she tries to guide Grey to safety. However, Grey ends up trapped inside an office break room, and Naomi leaves the church to rescue him.

Naomi saves Grey and the two meet face-to-face. Together, they navigate the heavily-infested city streets. Naomi is secretly impressed by Grey's skills. While trying to find their way to safety, they run across Bro, holed up in a convenience store, and rescue him as well.

Naomi offers to take Grey and Bro back to the church. The player can choose whether to call it a day and head home to Sara or to take up Naomi's offer. If the player visits the church, Bro goes back to Grey's apartment to pick up Sara while Grey and Naomi continue on.

At the church, Grey meets Elly for the first time. Bro comes back with Sara in tow. Grey and Sara have an awkward reunion, which Naomi notices without comment. Elly invites the newcomers to stay for dinner, promising a big meal. Naomi and Sara leave a bad first impression on one another.

Inside the church, Grey meets Chad and Father de Laurent. There are many other survivors at the church as well, and after rationing out poritons to everyone, the "big meal" Elly promised turns out to be pitifully small. Naomi tells Grey that he and Sara are welcome to move into the church permanently.

It is after dark now, so Grey decides to spend the night at the church. Elly takes Grey, Bro, and Sara to a hall of abandoned classes which they use as bedrooms for the night. Once alone, Grey and Sara debate the pros and cons of staying at the church. Sara is in favor of returning home in the morning, and Grey is not. Sara raises some good points in the dispute, but ultimately tells Grey she will leave the decision up to him. They sleep.

In the morning, Grey decides to go home with Sara, but promises Naomi that he will stop by to help out every once in a while. Bro stays at the church.

Back home, Grey becomes increasingly put-off by Sara's clinginess. They go on a supply run together which turns into a disaster, and they nearly die. Jun's father Gyeong saves them.

Grey does his best to dissuade Sara from traveling with him on supply runs. He sees her as a liability. He prefers to travel alone, with Bro, or with Naomi. During outings on his own, Grey meets Maya and Jun. He finds out that Maya is living in Naomi's apartment, and tells Naomi about it. Naomi is not pleased by the news but decides to let Maya stay.

Grey finds himself spending  more and more time at the church, much to Sara's chagrin. He enjoys the company of Naomi, and feels a sense of purpose. Naomi never has a shortage of tasks to give him, and the more Grey does for the church survivors, the more she comes to trust him. In her own tsuntsun way, Naomi pesters Grey to move to the church. Finally, Grey relents.

Sara is enraged that Grey would make such a decision without consulting her. Grey tells her that she is free to stay at the apartment if she wants to, but that he is moving to the church no matter what she says. Of course, Sara ultimately follows along. Though Grey's feelings for Naomi are growing increasingly deeper, Grey is still officially Sara's girlfriend, and he still feels like he should try to repair their relationship. The two share a room at the church.

Act 2
After moving into the church, Grey and Sara find themselves saddled with a mountain of responsibilities. They have to perform watch duty, go on supply runs, and do menial chores such as cooking and cleaning. Sara takes very poorly to being bossed around by Naomi and they have several confrontations which nearly turn violent. Grey manages to keep them away from each other's throats.

During the first half of act 2, the small community living at the church is very strong, and outside of the conflict between Sara and Naomi, there is little tension. The action is moved forward by outings with Bro and Naomi, and numerous long scenes between Grey and Naomi that show the further deepening of their relationship. Grey begins to realize that he is falling in love with Naomi. Sara realizes it, too.

Also during this phase of the game, Gyeong finds the church survivors. He cajoles Jun into moving to the church with him. Naomi and Gyeong instantly like each other a lot, but Jun hates life at the church, and their time there is short lived. Gyeong allows Jun to move back to her apartment. He moves out of the church as well. Naomi and Gyeong part on friendly terms, and Gyeong promises to help Naomi out whenever she needs it.

Soon, people at the church begin to die mysteriously. One is mauled by zombies, one is accidentally crushed, and two commit suicide. The deaths put the church survivors on edge and their community begins to unravel. They start to question Naomi's leadership and whether she can keep them safe. To make matters worse, more and more zombies are gathering in the area and around the gates of the church, and it is becoming a problem that can no longer be ignored.

Naomi realizes that the deaths are not what they appear to be, but are murders being committed by one of the church survivors. She goes to Grey in secrecy and asks him to investigate. Grey sets to work on finding out who the murderer is, but doesn't see any promising leads.

One day while Naomi is on a supply run with a few other survivors, Grey and the rest of the churchies witness a confrontation between Chad and Elly. Chad has discovered a secret fruit and vegetable garden Elly is growing in the courtyard. He accuses Elly of hiding food, and he goes on to claim that Naomi is complicit in this. Elly, in tears, swears that she was simply waiting for the produce to ripen before sharing with everyone. Chad roughly grabs her and shouts at her.

At this moment, Naomi returns from the supply run. Seing the confrontation, she reacts instantly, coldly shooting Chad in the kneecap. She puts her gun to his head and threatens to kill him. Elly talks her down.

Chad is taken to the infirmary to recover. Naomi's leadership position has not been helped by the confrontation. The church survivors are fearful. Word has gotten out that a murderer may be in their midst, and no one trusts Naomi to protect them. A few people leave. Those who stay speak of mutiny. Even Elly has turned away from Naomi, angered that Naomi would shoot someone in cold blood. Naomi has a long conversation with Grey and seems to be on the verge of giving up.

The wound in Chad's knee becomes infected. The leg has to be amputated, but even that doesn't save him. He is beyond help and will soon die. Chad tells Naomi that he will get revenge on her for what she did to him.

That night, someone opens the church gates, letting in the huge mob of zombies outside. The church survivors spring into action and try to hold their ground, but the attack is overwhelming and people begin to die. Bro goes on a suicide mission into the courtyard in an attempt to close the gates and prevent more zombies from coming in. Meanwhile, the other survivors begin to flee. Sara tries to convince Grey to run away with her, but he doesn't want to leave Naomi behind, who is still fighting off zombies. Sara tells Grey that if he won't come with her, she will kill Naomi.

Grey is shocked by the threat but doesn't have time to process it. Bravely sacrificing himself to save the others, Father de Laurent marches into the mob of zombies with a pump action shotgun, yelling "hold the church!" as a rallying cry. The gambit works and the church survivors gain the upper hand. Bro succeeds in closing the gates and eventually the survivors are safe again. When the dust settles, four people have died, and Father de Laurent has been bitten.

Grey and Naomi are both convinced that Chad is responsible for letting the zombies in. That suspicion is further confirmed when they go to the infirmary and see that he is missing. Enraged, Naomi goes on a hunt for him, and finally finds him on the clocktower roof. She accuses him of being the murderer and of letting the zombies in. He denies both charges vehemently. Naomi won't hear it though, and pushes Chad over the edge, killing him.

Returning to where the other survivors are now gathering, Naomi delivers a stirring speech to convince them not to leave. She says that only by standing together can they keep each other safe. She also announces that Chad was the murderer and that he is dead. The speech works, and order is restored to the church -- for the time being.

The next day, the survivors set to work on cremating the dozens of corpses now littering the church grounds. Though the gates are closed, the gun battle has drawn more zombies to the church than ever before, and things are still grim.

At de Laurent's request, Naomi visits with him on his death bed. He tells Naomi to take care of Elly, and asks Naomi to kill him before he turns into a zombie. Naomi shoots him. de Laurent 's corpse is cremated with the others.

When Elly finds out about de Laurent's death, she is incensed at Naomi. She refuses to speak to her anymore.

The zombies outside the church gates continue to grow in number and the fragile sense of order at the church is threatened again. Naomi gets a message to Gyeong asking him for help. Gyeong comes through on his promise: he steals a tank from the military and uses it to lure the zombies away.

Grey convinces Naomi to approach Elly and make amends with her. After a heartfelt conversation, Naomi and Elly become friendly again. Later that night, in celebration of their recent good luck, Grey, Bro, Naomi, Elly, and Sara get drunk. After the others have passed out, Grey confesses to Naomi that he is in love with her. They make love.

Act 3
Grey wakes up the morning after making love to Naomi, only to find Sara hovering over him. She has him hogtied, and dumps vodka all over his face. She threatens to burn him alive if he tries to call for help.

Sara delivers a long speech confessing to the murders at the church, and goes on to tell him that she saw him making love with Naomi. Finally, Sara informs him that she will be leaving the church, but that she'll be keeping an eye on him from the shadows, and that she will eliminate everyone who stands between the two of them.

Sara leaves. A few hours later, Naomi discovers Grey and unties him. Naomi is shocked to find out she was wrong about Chad being the murderer, and then feels guilty about killing him for it. Now that Sara is a confirmed threat, Naomi decrees that no one is to travel alone anymore, and she puts word out with the other survivors that Sara is no longer welcome at the church.

Naomi does not fully remember having sex with Grey because she was so drunk. Because of this, she becomes a little standoffish with him, much to Grey's confusion.

Grey and Bro decide to look for clues on where Sara might be. They check out Grey's apartment but don't find anything substantial. While there, Grey looks through some old mementos of his and Sara's and wonders how Sara could have gone so insane. He blames himself for it. Grey's conversation with Bro moves on to the topic of Naomi, and Grey realizes that Naomi must not remember the sexual encounter they had.

Back at the church, Elly tells Naomi that medical supplies are running perilously low. Naomi radios Grey and Bro, telling them to visit the local hospital to pick up some things.

While at the hospital, Sara ambushes Grey and doses him with a paralytic agent. She gets the jump on Bro and beats him to death before Grey's eyes.

When the paralytic agent wears off, Grey returns to the church, completely devastated. Naomi does her best to comfort him. Naomi is also angrier than ever before, and her vendetta against Sara has become personal. She decides to bring the fight to Sara instead of sitting around, waiting for her to strike again.

Naomi and Grey go to Naomi's apartment to get some things she thinks will be useful. Inside, they discover Maya's mutilated corpse -- Sara has killed her. Grey and Naomi realize Jun must be at risk too, and they race to her apartment to see if she's all right.

Jun is already dead. When Grey and Naomi arrive, they find Gyeong cradling her corpse and weeping. Naomi asks Gyeong to join them in hunting Sara down. He agrees.

Gyeong's plan is to trick Sara into revealing her location. He believes that Sara is stalking Grey at all times and will know when Grey is traveling alone. Gyeong arranges for it to appear as if Grey is alone, hoping that Sara will take the bait and approach him. Then Gyeong and Naomi can follow Sara back to her hiding place and ambush her.

The plan goes off without a hitch at first: Grey pretends to be traveling alone, and Sara confronts him -- but she keeps her distance during the confrontation. She is standing on the roof of a building, and Grey is in the street.

While the two trade barbs back and forth, Grey is too fidgety and Sara comes to suspect he isn't really on his own after all. She leaves. However, despite her best efforts at being stealthy, Gyeong maintains a bead on her, and follows her back to an abandoned motel. Grey and Naomi join him after he radios them.

Depending on player choices, one of two things can happen:

1) Gyeong believes he has outsmarted Sara, but Sara manages to surprise him, and shoots him in the head. Grey and Naomi are forced to flee.

2) Grey prevents Sara from killing Gyeong. Gyeong, Naomi, and Grey all escape the scene alive.

Back at the church again, Naomi and Grey are more afraid than ever of Sara and they begin to feel trapped. That night, Sara enacts her penultimate act of revenge: she tosses a series of molotov cocktails into the church and sets it on fire.

The church survivors flee, heading in different directions. Naomi is forced to watch helpless as the church community finally dissolves for good. During all the chaos, Sara slips back into the church and kidnaps Elly.

Realizing what has happened, Grey and Naomi spend all night trying to figure out where Sara might have taken Elly. After sunrise, they finally find Sara back at the now burnt-out church, where she is preparing to crucify Elly. She has already tortured Elly horribly, and Naomi is just a few moments too late to save her life. Sara kills Elly.

1) Bad end - Gyeong died
If Gyeong is dead, Naomi's berserker rage at Elly's death only succeeds in getting herself killed as well. Naomi's death is distraction enough for Grey to finally kill Sara. But now that he is alone in the world, Grey is directionless, and wonders whether it is worth it to continue. It is implied he commits suicide.

2) Good end - Gyeong is alive
If Gyeong is alive, he tackles Sara to the ground. Sara manages to kill him with a hammer to the skull, but the tussle gives Naomi an opening to strike. She jumps on top of Sara, pins her against an altar, and strangles her to death.

Grey and Naomi bury Elly and reflect on all that has happened. Naomi finally confesses to Grey that she loves him.

At some point before his death, Gyeong told Naomi and Grey that the military is no longer trying to maintain quarantine because the infection has spread too far. In light of that, the two decide to leave Denton together.

In the closing shots of the game, we see a picture of Elly's grave with a rose laid on top of it; a CG of the altar where Naomi strangled Sara to death, with Sara's corpse conspicuously missing; and a brief animation of a police cruiser driving past a sign that says "Now leaving Denton" -- and some moments later, another car, mysteriously following.
