  1. WELCOME TO #NEW!
  2.
  3. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  4. HOW TO CHAT:
  5. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  6. In the irc, you can do different things with different commands you type out. Here's the basic ones you will probably need to know:
  7.
  8. >Anything in quotes "like this" should be replaced with whatever you want!<
  9.
  10. /nick "New nick name" = Changes your name to whatever you want!
  11. /me "action" = shows everyone you are doing something, rather than saying it!
  12. /msg "Name of person you want to message" "message" = Sends someone a message in the chat without letting anyone see it!
  13. /join #"name of channel" = You will join the channel!
  14. /list = shows you the whole list of channels you can go onto! There will be a useful list of pretty good ones at the end of this.
  15.
  16. If you right click someone's name, a bunch of useful stuff should pop up, such as starting a private message, or whois, which shows you information about the person.
  17.
  18. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  19. HOW NAMES WORK:
  20. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  21.
  22. In the tulpa IRC network, you will probably see people who's name are something like this. Someguy[Somethingelse]
  23. What does that mean? That means that there is a tulpa about! When they type without the brackets, that means Someguy is saying something! [If they type with the brackets, like this, that means that Somethingelse is typing!]
  24.
  25. Some people have other things they use than brackets, like {these} or -these-. Some people also have multiple tulpas, so they might abbreviate them, too.
  26.
  27. How do you know who is the host and who is the tulpa? Usually the host is the one without the brackets or other flair. Sometimes it is a tulpa though! People tend to change the name to show who is speaking more at the moment. Is it cool to ask if people are a tulpa or not? Pretty much everyone is cool with it. It's understandable if you aren't sure.
  28.
  29. Other people simply have different tabs open on their browser or IRC client for themselves and their tulpa, so they all can get their own name.
  30.
  31. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  32. THE THREE GROUPS OF THE TULPA IRC:
  33. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  34.
  35. These are not cliques, but basically these three groups are where people mostly have found out about tulpas and talk about tulpas outside of the IRC network.
  36.
  37. TULPA.INFO = A forum website devoted to tulpas. They see tulpas as strictly psychological phenomena, and discourages metaphysical discussion. Tulpa.info is also one of the largest sources of information about tulpas on the internet!
  38.
  39. REDDIT TULPAS = These are people from the /r/tulpas sub on reddit.com! They mostly view tulpas as psychological phenomena, but are fine with metaphysical conversation and theories. They also have a lot of information about tulpas!
  40.
  41. 4 CHAN = Neither of these groups would be here without 4 chan! The modern tulpa movement all started there on /x/ and then /mlp/! People from 4Chan hae a wide variety of information and opinions about tulpas!
  42.
  43. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  44. DIFFERENT CHANNELS:
  45. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  46.
  47. Here's that helpful list of different places you can go to!
  48.
  49. #tulpa = a hub channel that is run by the people of tulpa.info. It is for people from all places of the internet to meet up and talk, mostly the three places on the internet that talk about tulpas the most. Tulpa.info, /r/tulpas on Reddit, and /x/ on 4chan.
  50.
  51. #redditulpas = This is a casual, friendly channel. There is sometimes on topic discussion, sometimes off topic discussion. Extremely social and active!
  52.
  53. #tulpachan = A channel specifically for people from 4Chan. Be prepared for 4chan.
  54.
  55. #lounge.info = The social channel for people from .info!
  56.
  57. #topic.info = The channel for people from .info to talk about tulpas and nothing else!
  58.
  59. #newbies.info = The channel for newbies run by .info!
  60.
  61. #science = The channel to discuss science, in all forms, especially related to tulpas!
  62.
  63. #meta = The channel to discuss metaphysics, in all forms, especially related to tulpas!
  64.
  65. WHEN YOU GO INTO A CHANNEL, DON'T FORGET TO READ THE RULES! They are at the top of the screen, and are usually in a pastebin, like this!
