  1. <DM> *Last time on ZURPG! You attempted to party split only to re-entwine your party as you chatted it up with Light Spirit Faron in the prison. There was some backstory stuff, some shenanigans getting Zuph down there, and then reinvigorating Faron using Zuph's armor (though he still has it). With that power, Hal now has Spirit affinity and Spirit Vision passively. You then heard there's an attack at the Sol Fountain, but instead of going to reinforce the Twili, you went on an adventure with Zuph to go find some really special crystals. After failing Sheikah Trials part 2 several times against a Twilightrobe, you finally changed tactics and stopped trying to physically harm a shadow, instead removing the shadow with darkness. You exploded some stuff, and now half the party, along with Zuph, has landed in a mysterious Twilight Underworld. Also, Zuph is 99% positive he saw Zant down here.
  3. <DM> *Kirran and Hal, you are looking down a hole into the depths of the underworld. You see Darte (as a sword) impaled the island below, a nearby treasure chest that's been re-locked by the impact of falling, and Dex un-Bethesdaing himself from Glitchzard zone.
  4. <DM> *And Zuph is..... I think we had some timeline shenanigan mix-ups, he is floating halfway between the ground below and the hole above, half-conscious. There, I compromised, since I'm not sure where he actually was either.
  5. * Darte ... 'waves'
  6. <DM> *You two see the handle of Darte's sword.... wave..... at you. ........
  7. <DM> *Dex, you find yourself on a floating island and- screw it, where's that description from earlier.
  8. <DM> <DM> *Looking around, you find yourselves on one of many floating islands. The sky here doesn't exist, it's just a great, huge ceiling, likely the land that constitutes most of the Twilight Realm. You also hear the faint sounds of Shadow Beasts screaming in the distance.
  9. <DM> <DM> *A dim light surrounds you all. Looking over the edge, you can the swirling abyss of the Twilight Realm itself; you know, that thing that Corsava fell into once.
  10. <DM> <DM> *Also, looking down and around, you see more of those crystals Zuph was just harvesting. Lots more of them, scattered on various floating islands.
  11. * Darte tries to imitate the Master Sword to be more appealing to stray adventurers.
  12. <DM> *Kirran, you see the Legendary Master Sword down there! Don't you want to go down and get it?
  13. * Kirran surveys the battlefield.
  14. * Dex uses his magnet gloves on the sword and pulls it towards himself.
  15. <DM> [Raine]: Lookie Kirran, that's it! That's that really cool blade you've been looking for!
  16. <Kirran> war...has changed.
  17. <DM> [Raine]: And now the Glitchzard has it!
  18. <DM> [Raine]: We gotta kill Dex!
  19. * Kirran puts on his Octorock camo
  20. <DM> *Zuph slowly floats down to the island, poking his golden armor repeatedly.
  21. * Hal chugs two Magic Jars and a Green Potion to recover to full Magic.
  22. <DM> [Zuph]: Come on, you stupid armor, move! Teleport me! Frigin'...... why can't I teleport all of a sudden?!
  23. <DM> *Zuph adjusts his goggles, then looks at Dex.
  24. <DM> [Zuph]: What? What's a statue like you doing down here?! You should be back at my shop, along with my other treasures, posing in front of the furnace!
  25. * Dex magnets Zuph over as well?
  26. <DM> *Oddly, your magnets don't react to Zuph's armor.
  27. <DM> *Zuph does not get pulled over. He is not drunk driving. Yet.
  28. * Dex hookshots Zuph over?
  29. <DM> *You end up hookshotting towards Zuph.
  30. <DM> [Zuph]: What in the blazes? G-get off me!
  31. <Dex> Hold on tight.
  32. * Dex hookshots back to dry island.
  33. <DM> *Zuph's googly eyes start going everywhere.
  34. <DM> *Well Dex, the distance is 50 feet exactly to the hole above. It should work.... in theory.
  35. <DM> *However, the hookshot bounces off the ground. Looks like you need some softer targets. Oh hey, Kirran and Hal are on the edge of the hole above!
  36. <Darte> (RIP)
  37. <DM> *Actually, I stand corrected, you don't see Kirran, you see an Octorok posing as Kirran. ........ what.*
  38. * Dex hookshots the octorok.
  39. <DM> [Zuph]: H-h-hang on, wait, t-the crystals I got earlier, they're only enough for one or two armors, I-I-I need to harvest more, a-and there's a bunch more down here, let me go!
  40. <DM> *Kirran, do you allow yourself to get hit?
  41. <Kirran> I most certainly do not.
  42. <Kirran> $1d3
  43. <Navi> Kirran: You rolled 1 Die with 3 Sides. Result: 3.
  44. <Kirran> But I don't dodge automatically apparently.
  45. <DM> *Dex, roll your hookshot roll. Kirran, roll Courage to defend!
  46. <Kirran> $43d10

  48. <Dex> Well why didn't you say so.
  49. * Dex makes his hookshot miss.
  50. <Dex> Let's get some sparkly rocks.
  51. * Dex hookshots the crystals instead.
  52. <DM> *Kirran, you zip out of the way as the hookshot reaches up..... and pulls something back down with it. Dex, you feel the hookshot grab something, but by the time the hookshot retracts to you, nothing is there. Weird.
  53. <Kirran> Whose footprints are these?
  54. <DM> *Hal, you think you saw the chaotic blue light of a Twilightrobe get dragged down with the hookshot, but you don't see it down there with them. Odd.
  55. <DM> *Dex, you hookshot to another island, pulling you, Darte, and Zuph towards the crystals.
  56. <DM> [Zuph]: T-thank, you. Now, if you'll give me some time, I should be able to cut some more crystals off...
  57. <DM> *To clarify Dex, the crystals did not get pulled off by the hookshot. Heck, it looks like you didn't even dent or scratch it.
  58. <Dex> Sure.
  59. <Dex> All this running around. I'm a busy statue today.
  60. * Darte serves as dead weight. On the downside, going is slower; on the plus side, you can brag about how it was _THIS BIG_.
  61. * Kirran keeps an eye out and his bow ready.
  62. <DM> *Zuph produces a blade, covered in the same goop your Kutlasstana is covered in. He starts cutting into the crystals from the base of it, slowly sawing and melting through it.
  63. <DM> *Kirran and Hal, now that your party has moved off that island, they are out of sight. Looking over the edge, you still can't quite see them.
  64. * Darte thinks he's safer this way right now around cliffs and angry lizards.
  65. <DM> *Near the crystals, you all (Dex, Zuph, and Darte) feel the ground shake around you, then nearby, what appears to be a Twili Communication Stone pops out of the ground.
  66. <Kirran> Guess we've no choice but to follow them down there.
  67. <Kirran> It's almost like a universal force is pushing us into some kind of situation where things will happen.
  68. <Orithan> $recall
  69. <DM> [Stone]: Oh, greetings, you fellows. Now that you're down here, I can finally see your real forms. Let's see, a short green one with scales and claws... a sword? And... did you bring a Twili down here with you?
  70. <DM> *Kirran, you've figured it out! That slight pull from the hole is the plot trying to push you through reluctancy.
  71. <Dex> No?
  72. <DM> [Stone]: Odd, I could've sworn there were... three more of you? Where are they, anywho?
  73. * Kirran jumps down and lands with style.
  74. * Hal plays the Song of Soaring and flies down the hole.
  75. <DM> *Kirran, roll courage for fall dama- I'm kidding, you actually find yourself floating slightly right before you touch the ground.
  76. <DM> *Kirran and Hal, now that you're down, you see the rest of your party on a nearby island, with Zuph trying to harvest more crystals.
  77. <DM> *And that darned Stone from before is back.
  78. * Hal puts away his Ocarina and brings out his cane and shield.
  79. <Darte> "The sword wonders why you couldn't see us properly before."
  80. * Dex pushes the stone.
  81. <DM> [Stone]: Ahh, I see them now! One is... a furry fellow, and the other.... hmm, some giant rubbery..... thingy. If I had to guess, your fifth party member is.... in that treasure chest? Or perhaps, is the chest itself?
  82. * Hal looks around, looking for that Wizzrobe's soul.
  83. * Dex taps the stone.
  84. <DM> [Stone]: Could you stop tapping back? That's annoying.
  85. <DM> [Stone]: And to answer your question, sword... it's because I can see you now. Why, I'm looking riiiiiight at you all.
  86. * Dex pushes really hard on the stone.
  87. <DM> *Dex, roll Power.
  88. <DM> w/ attack dice
  89. * Darte looks behind the stone.
  90. <Dex> $22d10
  91. <Navi> Dex: You rolled 22 Dice with 10 Sides. Results: 4, 9, 4, 6, 1, 3, 4, 4, 6, 9, 1, 10, 4, 7, 8, 10, 6, 9, 4, 6, 5 and 7. Total: 127. Successes: 15.
  92. <DM> *Hal, you look around, and across the various islands, you think you see a flicker of that soul...... but it's flooded out by all the other souls you see. Black flames that occasionally become visible as they cross between islands, the light from the swirling abyss below illuminating them for mere moments.
  93. <DM> *You then notice the sounds of lots of faraway Shadow Beast cries, in the same directions of all those black flames. They're just faint echoes to you though.
  94. <DM> *Dex, you push the Stone, and like a rubbery Octorok, it pushes to the side, then pushes back. Roll Power to defend!
  95. <DM> $22d10 Stone

  97. <DM> [Stone]: So, what're you all down here for? Have you come to finally meet me? Or is it some escort for..... what's that Twili doing to the crystals? I didn't know you cut those, I thought they were invulnerable.

  100. <DM> *The stone pushes back against you, but you hold your ground and don't go flying off into the distance.
  101. <Darte> "It _would_ be nice to meet you proper, without all this... stone in the way, don't you think?"
  102. <DM> *The stone seems to nod its..... head.... back and forth a few times.
  103. <DM> [Stone]: Hmm..... I'll consider it...... but lose the Twili. Then I'll meet with you. In fact, I'd like to meet with you very much, just.... not with that Midna-worshipper around.
  104. <DM> [Zuph]: Who're ye all talkin' to anyways?
  105. <DM> *Zuph is still focused on the crystals, not turning around to see the stone.
  106. <DM> *Kirran, are you going to stay in that Octorok getup, or change out?
  107. <Kirran> (I'm staying in it for now.)
  108. * Dex magnet gloves at the stone.
  109. <DM> *Hal, you see the flames in the distance start to move.... towards you. It's slow, but you also coincidentally hear the screams start to get closer too.
  110. <DM> *Dex, the stone is...... stone, not metallic.
  111. <Dex> could have had metallic ore in it
  112. <Dex> just making sure
  113. <DM> [Stone]: Tell you what, tell me how the Twili runt is cutting those crystals, and I'll meet with you and protect you from the Shadow Beasts.
  114. <Dex> No.
  115. <Hal> We need to do something... soon.
  116. <Dex> Yes.
  117. <Darte> "Why don't you ask him yourself? A lot quicker than going through us."
  118. <DM> [Stone]: Well, a pity then. By my count there's.... half a score of Shadow Beasts...... and a few more that are floating through the air. From what I hear, you all blew up an island, but down here, that's just going to make the Shadow Beasts.... a tad angry. I'm not sure even blowing up another big island will save you from their onslaught here.
  119. * Dex magnet gloves the island to see if its magnety?
  120. <DM> *You try to pull it, but it's just dirt and ground.
  121. <DM> [Stone]: Hmm, fine point, sword.
  122. <Dex> is there anything magnety around that isnt the sword?
  123. <DM> [Stone]: Hey, Twili runt, what're you cutting the crystals with?
  124. * Darte preens. "Thank you."
  125. <Dex> I wouldn't tell him if I was you. I don't trust strange talking stones.
  126. <DM> [Zuph]: Who's calling me a runt anyways? Don't you all see this is a very specific process involving a very hot goop-covered blade heated by spectral flames from a very hot furnace that then requires me to carefully slice away at these incredibly dense crystals without accidentally vaporizing my blade or dripping goop on myself?!
  127. <Dex> Hmm.
  128. <DM> [Stone]: .... huh. Interesting. I believe I know how he's doing that. Very well. I'll make personally sure he can continue his harvesting process without interruption. Now, if all of you would be so kind...
  129. * Dex hookshots to the chest.
  130. <DM> *The Stone changes form slightly. On it, a map appears, showing off an arrangement of tons of islands. They display you folks as some yellow dots somewhere in the northern section of it. From the west, there's red dots advancing towards you. North of you, past the islands, there's a beeping blue dot.
  131. <DM> *Dex, you pull yourself over to the chest.
  132. * Dex opens the chest.
  133. <DM> *The chest does not open.
  134. <Dex> please play the zelda chest opening music here
  135. <DM> *The music plays..... but the chest doesn't open.
  136. * Dex unlocks the chest?
  137. <Orithan> What is a Zelda Chest opening music?
  138. <DM> *Got any lockpicks?
  139. * Orithan flees
  140. <DM> *Orithan, you are caught by Kefka's iron grip.
  141. <DM> [Stone]: There, head there on the map. I assume you all know how to follow a map.
  142. * Hal nods and looks for paper to scribble the map on.
  143. * Dex uses his claw as a lockpick.
  144. <DM> [Stone]: Leave the Twili where he is. Don't worry, I'm friends with several..... mystical fellows down here. In fact, I believe you all met one of them not too long ago. They'll keep your friend safe and let him continue his harvesting.
  145. <DM> *Dex, roll.... Wisdom.
  146. <Dex> $22d10

  148. <DM> *Hal, you see the Octorok form of Kirran, and wonder if you can write on it.
  149. <Darte> "You're... not talking about the thing that was gonna guzzle our shadows up, are you?"
  150. <DM> *A good jolly success, great job, that's...... your claw chips in the attempt to open the chest.
  151. <DM> [Stone]: Indeed I am. Now, if you don't want your corpses to be devoured by a wave of Shadow Beasts, be on your way.
  152. <DM> *In the distance, you start to see something.... no a group of things.... move from island to island. The sounds of the screeching get closer. No longer are you hearing just echos, but starting to hear the pain in their screeches as they approach.
  153. * Darte waggles at the lizard. "Uhmm, maybe we shouldn't trust our companion to this one after all..."
  154. * Hal looks north and looks for the closest island to jump to in the north.
  155. * Kirran is sticking with Zuph
  156. * Dex puts the chest in his inventory.
  157. <Dex> No chest left behind.
  158. * Dex hookshots over to the island with everyone else.
  159. <DM> *Hal, it looks like each island has only 20 feet distance at most between them. Should be easy jumping.
  160. <DM> *You attempt to load the chest into your inventory, but for some reason, it doesn't quite work.
  161. <Dex> Frig it.
  162. <DM> *It's like it starts to get loaded into the inventory, but then part of the way in, it shoots itself out.
  163. * Dex magnetic glove pushes the chest towards the island.
  164. * Darte suggests cutting the stone underneath it.
  165. <Hal> We need to get a move on.
  166. <DM> *The chest tumbles off and lands on the island with the crystals. Err, one of them. The one where Zuph is cutting the crystals.
  167. <Kirran> Zuph, we need to get out of here man. Not sure these crystals are worth your life pal.
  168. * Dex hookshots to the chest.
  169. <DM> [Zuph]: On the contrary, my dear friend, they are. My sister spends every day fighting for her life and all the other Twili at the Sol Fountain. I oughta try and repay that somehow.
  170. <DM> [Zuph]: And once I have enough of these crystals, heheheh, oh we can charge those Interlopers head on, no longer having to hide in fear, heheheheh!
  171. <Kirran> You have a way to deal with a pack of wizards and shadowbeasts? Because I don't.
  172. <DM> *His tone of voice has shifted into..... it's still comical, but hungry, as is he wants to kill the Interlopers in a rather gruesome manner.
  173. <DM> [Zuph]: Shadowbeasts? Oh that's simple, I'll just use my armor and tele-
  174. <DM> *He suddenly stops.
  175. <Kirran> Exactly.
  176. <Dex> I hate that rock but I don't want to die so let's get going. Dying sucks.
  177. <DM> [Zuph]: ...... fine.
  178. <Hal> Agreed
  179. * Hal jumps over to the closest island to the north
  180. <DM> *He pockets the goopy blade, then turns to you guys.
  181. <DM> [Zuph]: Where are we going? And..... is that Communication Stone?
  182. <DM> [Stone]: Really? You're bringing the Twili with you?
  183. <Hal> We need to go north.
  184. <Kirran> It is, but I don't think it's a friend per se.
  185. <DM> [Zuph]: Hang on, let me use that, I need to-
  186. <DM> *The stone retracts into the ground.
  187. <DM> [Zuph]: W-what?! Get back here, you stupid stone!
  188. <Kirran> I think we need to go wherever we can't be tracked.
  189. <Kirran> Zuph, I think that was Zant.
  190. <DM> [Zuph]: Z....... Zanty?! Why that no good little......
  191. <Hal> We do too.
  192. <DM> [Zuph]: That's it, carry me to his lair, I'm gonna gut him!
  193. <Kirran> Let's get back to base first. He knows we're here and so do his minions.
  194. <DM> *Hal, do you keep going north?
  195. <DM> *You think you see the islands end about 10 islands ahead.
  196. <Darte> "He can't have dug too far, these are small islands."
  197. * Dex ties the chest to his back?
  198. <Darte> "With our luck, he's got creepy long sexy legs underneath like a dugtrio."
  199. <DM> *It's a bit heavy, you're slowed down, but you have the chest on your back, Dex.
  200. <DM> *Kirran, you see the hole 50 feet above, but nothing to latch onto up there.
  201. * Dex grabs Zuph.
  202. <Kirran> (I'm guessing that the teleport staff isn't working?)
  203. <DM> *Zuph is practically weightless.
  204. <DM> (wanna try it?)
  205. * Dex jumps at the next island.
  206. * Kirran gives the cane of Lalakar a test shake.
  207. <DM> *You follow Hal north.
  208. <DM> *Kirran, the cane appears to be working. Might just be Zuph's armor that isn't working.
  209. * Kirran grabs Zuph and teleports up out of the hole.
  210. <DM> *Dex, do you allow this?
  211. <DM> *Kirran, you grab yourself a Zuph, then zip up! You reappear....... 5 feet up.
  212. <DM> *There's a trail of sparkles leading above you to where the hole here, the usual teleport effect, except..... separate from you.
  213. <Kirran> Yeah...that's what I thought.
  214. <DM> *You think you teleported up there, but by the time you reappeared, somehow the teleportation was pulled back down.
  215. <Darte> "Someone added clip boundaries."
  216. <Kirran> Damn invisible walls gating off backtracking...
  217. * DM high-fives Darte- ow, that's frigin' sharp, dude. Someone could cut themselves on you! Watch it, man!
  218. <DM> *The rest of you have moved on to the north, I take it?
  219. <Kirran> (Is there any other way to go?)
  220. <DM> *The islands stretch in all directions. To the west is certain death. East and south are perfectly viable as well, you just have no idea what's in those directions. Well, you're not sure what's north either, other than Zanty-bud pointing you in that direction and claiming you'd be safe from the incoming wave of doom.
  221. * Darte is a hurtful fellow.
  222. <Kirran> (Hang on, I have an idea.)
  223. <DM> (guessing you're chatting it out in teamchat?)
  224. * Kirran picks up Darte, ties a rope to the handle, and then gravity slingshots him out of the hole.
  225. <DM> oh dear
  226. <DM> WHELP
  227. <DM> roll yo gravity slingshot roll
  228. * Dex uses his goggles to check out what's going on in the east and south.
  230. <Kirran> $50d10
  231. <Navi> Kirran: You rolled 50 Dice with 10 Sides. Results: 8, 10, 9, 6, 8, 3, 10, 5, 9, 3, 5, 4, 4, 7, 8, 7, 9, 8, 10, 6, 2, 9, 4, 4, 9, 2, 5, 1, 1, 5, 7, 8, 5, 6, 4, 3, 8, 3, 8, 6, 6, 2, 10, 9, 8, 8, 5, 7, 5 and 5. Total: 304. Successes: 40.
  232. <DM> *Dex, you adjust your goggles. To the south, just a bunch of blank floating islands. To the east, it's seemingly like that, but.... darker. It's almost like you're staring into a void or a dark abyss to the east. Something is.... rather unsettling about it.
  233. * Dex relays this info to the team.
  234. <DM> *Kirran, you shoot Darte upwards, and he manages to impale into the side of the hole above! Buuuuut something starts pulling him down and out.
  235. <Kirran> Rude
  236. <DM> *It's not that you can't get out, but one more failed attempt and those Shadow Beasts will be upon you.
  237. * Kirran gets aboard the train reluctantly.
  238. <DM> *Hal, you were in the lead. You reach the edge of the islands to the north. Well, there's one more to the north, around where you think the blue bleeping dot was leading, but..... there's about 200 feet distance between you and it.
  239. <DM> *Between, it's just an abyss of light and swirling stones and other ruins down below. There appear to be some rather odd looking flying creatures hovering above the abyss though.
  240. * Dex island hops to the edge of the islands to the north. Then goggle views the 200 feet away island.
  241. * Darte is flapping around behind on the arse-end of a gravity slingshot. Ow. Ow. Ow.
  242. <DM> *You check out the island, and you see a Twili wearing regal robes looking back at you using a pair of goggles. He puts the goggles away, then waves back while waving a curved sword.
  243. <DM> *Kirran, you catch up with your team, the poor battered sword of Darte bouncing behind you before finally breaking free of his form and landing like a pile of fish like the fishguy he is.
  244. <DM> *Somehow, despite all the bruises, he is unharmed. He just looks battered.
  245. <Dex> adadadad
  246. * Dex waves at the guy
  247. <DM> *You wave, and throw the goggles, you see him turn away and walk away from you.
  248. * Hal looks around, focusing on any souls around him.
  249. * Dex goggle views at the creatures.
  250. <DM> *Hal, you see the souls of those flying beasts, and they seem to be really similar to those of the Shadow Beasts. Only, they're not actively hostile. Yet.
  251. <DM> *Looking at the flying creatures between you and the far island, they appear to be black, winged beasts. Though, instead of a head, their neck seems to extend, and at its end, instead of a face, it's a bright glowing red eye.
  252. * Darte attempts to stand on wobbly fish... legs.
  253. <DM> *They are casually floating ahead of you, and if you had to guess, maybe 40-50 feet apart each, three of them total.
  254. <DM> *You all feel a rumbling, and nearby, your friendly neighborhood Stone pops out of the ground.
  255. <DM> *The creatures are a little bit below you, maybe 10 feet below eye level.
  256. <DM> [Stone]: Since you're insisting on bringing the Twili runt with you, I'm not going to help you get across. Though, I'm sure given everything you've endured to get to here.... it shouldn't be hard to figure this out. Have fun.
  257. * Dex grabs the stone.
  258. * Dex tries to pull it out of the ground?
  259. <DM> *Roll Power!
  260. <Dex> $22d10

  264. <DM> *You pull and pull and pull, but it's no good, the stone plops out with no resistance- WHAT?!
  265. <Dex> Nevermind.

  395. <DM> [Zant]: Congratulations, you blew up another island. I wasn't serious about you folks doing that, but... you did. ........ what is wrong with you all?

  398. <DM> *Looking at the curved swords he's carrying, they look oddly reminiscent of Gerudo scimitars. Sadly, your Gerudo companion isn't here to confirm that.

  481. <DM> *Dex, you eventually find a trio of treasure chests. All locked. One of them in particular looks quite fancy.
