  2.
  3. 136 Born as “Byron” near Gulltown, to a fishmonger. But that has all been forgotten and his parents are long dead.
  4.
  5. Byron spent his early years, practically ignored due to his mother’s herd of children and had timed sitings of his father, for fish peddling was the hours of dawn to dusk in Gulltown. As he approached his 6th nameday, Byron followed his father on the back of the fish cart and learnt the trade and peddling in the port city
  6.
  7. The war of the Dance of the Dragons spreads like wildfire throughout Westeros, bringing the Kingdom to its knees and leaving the realm to rebuild in its restoration.
  8.
  9. The first time Byron witnessed the Starry Sept, it took the breath from him with its glory and strength as the seat of power for The Faith. In Byron’s peasant ignorance, he had never seen such beauty and knew in an instant that it was befitting of The Gods. When Byron witnessed a Septon that called for prayer, ordained in refined robes of silk, a swinging thurible of incense burned as the smoke drifted in the city; Byron was mesmerized by their glory and brotherhood.
  10.
  11. Byron learnt to read the basics by his father, the peddler would call out various objects in passing and ask Byron to spell the words. It was not long before Byron surpassed his father’s capacity in the written word as his gifts for writing and numbers was discovered. He spent his time managing his father’s ledgers.
  12.
  13. Byron attended his first holy liturgy in a small Sept in Gulltown on his tenth nameday. It was the only request that he asked of his father and he obliged. The two arrived early, ensuring to find a place amongst the marble and statues. Byron hung onto every word that The Septon spoke, closing his sermon with "Truth, which is simple and one, admits of no variety.” Such words rung in the curious and eager mind of Byron Such marked a day that his holy path would take, his faith blossomed.

  16.
  17. During Byron’s 11th year, the maturing boy slowly formed into an adolescent. While climbing an apple tree to release the middle branches of their fruit, Byron misstepped and fell several meters below. Landing on his back, he was knocked unconscious and drifted into another world. A white light flooded his thoughts and images of the seven-pointed star swirled within the unconscious Byron. A Sept was ignited by the stars, illuminating The Seven in their glory in the busy Sept with passing Septons and Septas. Byron’s projection of himself walked amongst them before the scene ended with Byron about to exit the Sept's massive doors and face those that reside beyond the marble. Awakening from his madness and mission, Byron was convinced that he had been visited by The Crone and he was to become a servant of The Faith.
  18.
  19. With Byron’s newly found quest for faith, he apprised his father of his intention. Such tidings brought great relief to Byron’s father, for he was the third child of many and the fishmongers could hardly afford to feed all of his kin. Fortunately, Byron’s father happened to deliver weekly fish to House Arryn of Gulltown. Having acquaintance with the steward, as Byron’s father shared a discrete winesink with the man, he summoned a favour from the man. Byron’s services were sold to the cadet branches Master at Arms he began serving, expanding on his writing and reading as he organised and documented equipment.
  20.
  21. A year later, Byron was given a sword and began his training to be a potential knight serving House Arryn of Gulltown.
  22.
  23. After years of training, he was finally knighted at the age of 15. His combat skills were decent, but he had shone as a capable assistant to the Master-At-Arms when it came to managing military finances, resources and other strategic matters. He was literate and had sown keen intellect. However, he had yet to find his voice and remained quiet and isolated.
  24.
  25. His faith continued to guide him, visiting the Sept nearly every day, kneeling before the Seven as he hung to every word that the Septons spoke and chanted.
  26.
  27. The Master-At-Arms died, Byron having little loyalty to House Arryn of Gulltown itself left Gulltown and took the Stranger’s calling as an opportunity for him to start his quest as a Hedgeknight of the Vale. He wandered The Vale, visiting Septs along the way, The Crone guiding him as he trained with various Knights of the Vale along the way. Finding little sanctuary or purpose, he summoned the Seven to show him a path. In the coming days, he wandered upon a Brotherhouse and declared his quest to become a Septon.
  28.
  29. Byron was housed in the attached Brotherhouse with the other young boys that were destined to take their vows. His new life consisted of a regiment, daily prayer, chores and work as an acolyte.
  30.
  31. After one year, Byron had found his place amongst his peers, yet remained reserved and dedicated to his studies. He was a clever boy with a growing memory and keen thirst to learn. His devotion to The Seven had become fervent and zealous in nature, his dreams and visions continued; his sense of grandiose notions that was chosen by The Seven.
  32.
  33. Byron had genuinely been a quiet and reserved boy of 12. For he spent his early life on the docks. A life of solitude and absence from the world for he only recognised hard work and long days. It was in Byron’s second year as an acolyte when he found his voice and discovered that he was a great orator. Challenged by Septons to debate, Byron chose the ‘Seven Aspects of Grace’ and fervently spoke of the living examples of The Seven bestowed upon them, the boy had bloomed and his peers were left clutching their Seven-pointed stars while in ecstasy in their brotherhood and Byron’s passion. Byron was convinced that The Crone had been speaking through him.
  34.
  35. Byron is tasked to work in the archives and transcribe ancient texts of disintegrating tomes to newly leather-bound canvases. It was here where he learnt to read ancient languages in historical texts.
  36.
  37. As Byron continued to rise in the ranks of his peers, he was expeditious in discovering the foibles of the Septons that lead the Brotherhood. Such sinful nature was good as gold for Byron.
  38.
  39. There was Septon Cellador, responsible for placing Septons after they took their vows. Septon Cellador had a sinful taste for flesh, especially that of a young acolyte. Such nature was either ignored or hidden from his fellow Septons, but the boys knew very well of Septon Cellador ’s lingering gaze and ‘pats’ of encouragement. Byron was concerned that he would not be assigned appropriately in the ranks of The Faith and feared to be locked away in the archives. Machiavellian in nature, he believed it was Gods will be placed at the forefront of The Faith, looking to serve a prominent Septon directly, placed next to the seat of power. One evening after prayer, Byron followed Septon Cellador to his chancery under the guise of discussing The Seven-Pointed Star. Byron exposed his flesh and seduced the older Septon, giving the Septon ecstasy with his young body as he attempted to guarantee his future.
  40.
  41.
  42. The Steward discovered that an acolyte had been stealing coin from The Faith. Whispers moved throughout the Septons and acolytes, a thief was amongst them. The thief was of noble birth, which proved Byron’s suspicions that some of these entitled Lordlings never truly forgot their origins and lived in sin with their entitlement. Taking it upon himself to investigate such a crime against The Faith, Byron began to observe his peers closely. At first glance, he had missed the habits of one of his peers. It was customary for the acolytes to enjoy a nightcap after evening prayer. However, it was Byron’s gaze that noticed that for three nights a high-born acolyte of a Vale House had not joined his brothers. Most intrigued, Byron ensured that he’d follow him the following night. Before evening prayer, he hid a black cloak to disguise his robes in the bushes of the Sept. When the brothers began to file out, he tailed the noble acolyte disguised into the streets of a nearby town. The noble acolyte leads his stalked to a winesink. brandishing his stolen coin, the acolyte had two drinks amongst the merriment of the drunken peasants. After his second drink, the noble acolyte moved again and Byron followed him to a brothel “The Songbird.” Byron discovered that the noble acolyte had been being entertained by a naive young girl of 16 that had been swept up by the Madame of the brothel. Such angered the young and zealot Byron. The following morning, he waited for the young whore to leave to do her messages and errands. Cornering her in an alley, he confronted her about her acolyte visitor and threatened her with condemnation of The Seven. The young whore buckled under fear and agreed to identify the acolyte. Byron summoned her to afternoon prayer and brought her forward to Septon Cellador and explained that a man of his position should be most harsh in the terms of fornication, offering a subtle reminder that Byron knew of Septon Cellador’s ways. Out of fear, the Septon denounced the acolyte and was given a trial by the faith and the young whore was forced into a motherhouse under Byron’s suggestions.
  43.
  44. Byron's dedication to justice did not go unnoticed by the Septons in the upper-echelons of the Brotherhouse. Not to mention he was aided by Septon Cellador's fear of being exposed and lead to him gaining a position aiding the learning Septon, in charge of managing his agenda and letters.
  45.
  46. Accompanying The Leading Septon, The Faith’s entourage travelled throughout the Vale to spread the message of the Seven.
  47.
  48.
  49. Byron befriends a future Septa that shares his vision. Tasked with similar tasks for The Most Devout, the two work closely together in their youth, dreaming of taking their vows and serving The Seven. They supported each other in their claims, Myrna manipulating the Most Devout and Byron manipulating The High Septon that now had taken a special interest in the boy that served him.

  53.
  54. Lord Arryn calls for The Faith to cleanse the Vale of the vile Mountain Clans. Answering the call of his Lord, he urges the brotherhouse to answer the call and climb the mountains to purge and please. Citing that the Warrior spoke to him, Byron summons his sword and partakes in the butchering of the mountain pests.
  55.
  56. Byron rejoices when Baelor the blessed is King. Byron requests to serve the Sept of The Eyrie. He is granted his wish and follows Lord Arryn to King’s Landing.
  57.
  58. Byron had never laid his eyes upon a royal nor hardly a Lord. Byron deemed The Gods had provided him with a ripe opportunity, the young acolyte was determined to be chosen to scribe the meeting between the King Baelor and Lord Arryn. Fortunately for Byron, his peer and fellow acolyte had become ill and Byron was summoned by The Leading Septon of the Eyrie to accompany Lord Arryn and meet King Baelor. Byron was most impressed in what had transpired, Prince Baelor announced his plans for The Great Sept of Baelor. He requested that the seat of The Faith be moved to King’s Landing. The present High Septon was reluctant to accept and left the congregation and promised to send word in the coming weeks. The Septons that hovered in power debated fervently, all attempting to sway The High Septon in his decision. However, it would be brought before the Most Devout in the coming days, once the entourage returned to the Starry Sept and a power struggled engulfed in The Faith, The High Septon died and Baelor replaced him with a child. Byron transferred to the Starry Step in the reach, where he prepared to take his vows and serve the Starry Sept.
  59.
  60. Byron used his youth as a weapon, for there were much older and frustrated Septons that found their advice and wisdom falling on deaf ears and those that feared a child, all wanted to be heard and Byron was sure to make himself available to those eager tongues and mutters of frustration. Byron documented their concerns, searching for the ring-leader of the power struggle as The child High Septon took his seat. After many meetings, Byron discovered that Septon Owen of The Most Devout had been leading the struggled against The High Septon. With vengeance, Byron moved swiftly to proceed The High Septon, deeming it was the will of The Seven to guide him. Praying to The Father and The Crone for their guidance, he began to plot the death of Septon Owen. Byron discovered that an older kitchen maid was grief struck, for her son was beheaded as a deserter in The Reach, abandoning his duties as a knight. Loving her son, she wept for his soul. By what Byron claimed as a design of The Seven, he approached the kitchen-maid and consoled her over a period of weeks. Using an intermediate, he discretely promised her son’s redemption with a holy pardon of his soul, he tasked the devout kitchen maid with poisoning Septon Owen with his convincing words of the Seven-Pointed Star. It took weeks for the kitchen maid to acquire the nightshade. After it was acquired, The High Septon called a day of prayer and feast amongst the Most Devout, he had made his decision and intended to announce that he would move The Faith’s seat. Somewhere amongst the midst of celebration, prayer, and The HighSeptons announcement; Septon Owen collapsed and was found dead. Those that followed Septon Owen retreated to their holes, their leader was dead and they learnt to step in line in unison under The child High Septon.
  61.
  62. Byron takes his vows in The Starry Sept and is named Septon Aegil, Byron and his story forever forgotten. Weeks later, Myrna takes her vows and is named Septa Myrna, the two remain inseparable until she returns home to serve The Westerlands, Septon Aegil tasked to remain to serve the Starry Step.
  63.
  64. With the will of the Seven. Septon Aegil found a chance of conference with the boy that lead the Faith. Charming him with his own youth, the child entrusted Septon Aegil and tasked him to serve the chancery directly. Septon Aegil managed delicate correspondence, organising his agenda and guided the avatar of the Gods that trusted him. Elevating in his station, he now aids TheHigh Septon during liturgy and is given his first set of luxurious robes.
  65.
  66. Being the right hand of The High Septon, Septon Aegil continues to monitor and manipulate the Septons and Septas that plotted and schemed on behalf of The Faith. Keeping the Sepons and Septas in line, he plots against them and beings to quietly acquire wealth in his dealings, his oration and skills gaining prestige out of intimidation. There were many that whispered that the young Septon would go far and others that feared that he was grooming The child High Septon. For the child remained cloistered while Septon Aegil managed the affairs of the seat.
  67.
  68. For the first time, Sepon Aegil is tasked with collecting The White Book on behalf of The High Septon and orders the illustrating Septons to depict the tales in the book. His orderliness assured that The White Book was copied quickly and returned to the Kingsguard Commander.
  69.
  70. The High Septon tasked Septon Aegil to conduct his own ceremony for the first time, for the child was bored of ceremonies and sermons. It was that time of year when a heard of pages were ready to be knighted in The Reach. The young men and boys of Westeros walked barefoot to The Starry Sept and stood vigil. Kneeling before the warrior, Septon Aegil anointed the young boys and men in holy oils and blessed them in the name of The Warrior, before they were knighted before The Seven and their peers.
  71.
  72. Baelor continues to push for The Great Sept of Baelor. Leading a delegation with The child High Septon, Septon Aegil convinces the High Septon to move the seat to King’s Landing. Construction begins.
  73.
  74. Using his position, Septon Aegil agrees to fund and support “The Order of the Seven Temple.”
  75.
  76. King Baelor tightens his grip on court and limits customs and liberal nature that he deemed sinful. King Baelor sends missives to the child High Septon to intervene. Yet, the child High Septon has little interest in such matters. Sefton Aegil responds to King Baelor with the agreement and writes the child High Septon’s sermons. Meanwhile, Septon Aegil uses his affluence and access, he commands that Septon Cellador that Septas are to be sent to answer to the service of the maiden vault and the nobles that were housed. Writing to his confident and friend, Septa Myrna he explains his efforts and demands a list of trusting Septa spies. Obliging, she returns a short list of Septa by Raven and Septon Cellador is given his names. At once, the Septon reorganises placements and sends the three Septas to court. As spies, they begin to report on the matters of court and the movements within. With the reported rumours and actions of sin, Septon Aegil conspired against the Ladies and Lords in court from afar. Outing their sins discretely, unknown to all who were working against them and exploiting them.
  77.
  78. The Great Sept of Baelor is habitable and the seat of The Faith moves to King's Landing. Septon Aegil organises the entire move of the High Septon's chancery and staff. A thirst for power ignited within him, for he was of the first generation to inhabit The Great Sept of Baelor as the High Septon's hand. Septon Aegil continues to take advantage of his position in the capital. Absorbing some wealth and investing in local trade and peddlers. The child High Septon dies from illness, Septon Aegil scrambles in his fear of losing power. However, he was saved by the Seven when King Baelor chose a mason. The illiterate fool inhabits the seat of power. Septon Aegil’s charm and schemes serve him well, his position is secured to work for the illiterate fool.
  79.
  80. Baelor Targaryen dies, never living to see the completion of his Grand Sept. A statue of him is erected as part of the building. The High Septon is concerned with the potential decline of The Faith's position as their ally at court is dead. Out of desperation, he raises and ignites the already The Faith Militant and organises their movements in The Vale and elsewhere.
  81.
  82. The Great Sept of Baelor is completed and the seat of The Faith moves to King's Landing. Septon Aegil organises the entire move of the High Septon's chancery and staff. A thirst for power ignited within him, for he was of the first generation to inhabit The Great Sept of Baelor as the HighSepton's hand. Septon Aegil continues to take advantage of his position in the capital. Absorbing some wealth and investing in local trade and peddlers.
  83.
  84. A darkness stirred within him within him. Septa Myrna travels to King's Landing and joins the Most Devout. Septon Aegil and Septa return to their antics and begin to plot against the sitting High Septon.
  85.
  86. Winter grips the capital and Westeros at large. At the council of Septon Aegil, the High Septon sends orders for the Faith Militant to be restored in secret in the Mountains of the Vale after Lord Arryn’s announcement. Winter robs The Faith of multiple feeble and aged members of The Most Devout. Septon Aegil finds that The Crone had offered another ripe opportunity. With the aide of Septa Myrna, he gains a position on The Most Devout. In the depths of winter, Septon Aegil plots and begins to manipulate the few next to appointed Most Devout, assuring that they would be loyal to him in the years to come. He hand selects various Septons from his past, including one or two of that, shared taking their vows with the growing and more powerful Septon Aeiul, yet also included the now nearly decrepit and mentally incapacitated Septon Cellador, who was far too feeble to not oblige Septon Aegil completely. In fact, he did exactly what Septon Aegil advised him to do.
  87.
  88.
  89. Septon Aegil was starting to be exposed to his political prowess and misuse of Septon Cellador, especially as Septon Aegil attempted to remove Septon Cellador form his deathbed to vote for one last time. Unfortunately for Aegil, Septon Cellador died before casting his vote and the Most Devout cast a shadow against him. However, not all was lost as Septa Myrna was there to appease the Most Devout and repair the slight damage given to the great orator's reputation. Septon Aegil spent the next few years working stealthily in secret, waiting for Spring
  90.
  91. Septon Aegil fasts and divulges into severe prayer to an answer to the chaos of the realm and the disruption of order. His visions cease in his torment, becoming slightly more unhinged as the once zealous Septon begins to question his faith.
  92.
  93. The High Septon dies of natural causes and King Baelor was far too lost in prayer and weak to appoint another High Septon. Septon Aegil's nearly lost faith sparked once more. The Great Sept of Baelor moved into action, The Most Devout spent days deliberating and voting. Aegil worked The Most Devout, offering his grandiose dedications to The Seven, elaborate and eloquent speeches, promises and blackmail. Finally, he was crowned as The High Septon. The bells rang as the white smoke seeped from The Great Sept of Baelor. Now, he moves to position The Faith as the ultimate station of power, regardless of the means and the collateral damage. His thirst and hunger for power raged in the disguise of zealotry, he had become a hypocrite in his 32 name days.
  94.
  95.
  96. The final years of King Baelor’s life pass easily for The High Septon, for he whispered in the fasting King’s ear to pass more edicts, to fast and surrender to the faith. For a disabled and devout King gave the High Septon free reign over the realm. Now, with King Baelor’s death, the High Septon will need to manipulate the small council and take on the next King.
