Celeste and Sophia approach Aven
Celeste stumbles through asking Aven about his thief career - what he steals, who he steals from
Sophia eventually cuts Celeste off & asks Aven outright about a piece of jewelry he seemingly got from nowhere
Celeste' grabs at the steel band ring on her left ring finger, mumbling something about memories attached to jewelry
Aven is a bit offended that they would think so lowly of him, explaining that "if there's one thing I never steal, it's sentimentality" or... something to that effect
goes on to explain that he got the jewelry from a store, straight from the display case
...he didn't buy it, but that's beside the point
Celeste looks relieved
Sophia apologizes for suspecting him - "There are all kinds of thieves - some noble, some not - and it's hard to tell the difference until you learn what exactly they're willing to take. We're glad to know that you're amongst the noble ones."
Celeste nods
Sophia adds "Money doesn't have a whole lot of value to us, beyond food and supplies, so...", the implication being the two don't really care about him stealing gold at all, as long as it doesn't lead to someone starving to death
on that note, Aven mentions a sapphire necklace that Celeste had been looking at the previous day, but had lacked the expendable funds to get it (mainly because she usually doesn't keep money that she doesn't need)
produces said necklace from his pocket (or whatever), and hands it to her as a gift
