You can hardly tell how long it’s been since you came down here to the ruins of what was once known as Rapture, although in reality it’s only been a few hours at the most. Little is known about Rapture to the world of the surface other than it was created and built over seventy years ago by Andrew Ryan, a philosophical entrepreneur who had left the world of the surface after rejecting the ideals of those who walked upon it. Things have changed in those seventy years however, for one thing magic had been rediscovered and  brought back into the world, causing the creation of all new entities for the sake of cartoons and mascots. A council of wizards had been created to keep the darker sides of magic in check and that’s why you now find yourself here, deep beneath the waves at the entrance to Rapture.

Your name is Henry Winters, named after your great grandfather who used to tell you stories of a friend he had worked with, Joey Drew, who had left for rapture long ago. You’re an amateur wizard specializing in creating ink and animation-based constructs, literally bringing cartoon characters to life. You had been sent here in a state of the art magical divesuit in order to investigate a sudden surge of dark magic that had come far beneath the waves, where rapture once stood. They didn’t bother sending anyone more experienced both because they didn’t want to risk losing anyone important and because you personally requested to be sent on this mission so they loaded you up with survival supplies and a divesuit and sent you on your way down here, to Rapture.
