  1. This is the journal of one of my campaigns that was dropped.
  2. 00:20] Robin [GraphX]: Session 1 The walled mansion
  3. The Gnome, Tabaxi and Human woke up in a room bound arms and hands and slighly bruised, decided it was best to take action.
  4.  
  5. Ran from the flesh guardian, fought it a little bit later after finding their gear.
  6. With no supposed threats left they introduced themselve and explored the mansion.
  7.  
  8. In the art room they find a magical mirror that lets them pass through walls as if it were an open window.
  9.  
  10. They discover a hidden passage in the servants quarters that allows them access to the basement. They find 4 cultists performing an evil ritual.
  11.  
  12. Vitoli goes down in battle but his resolve is strong as he stands back up. "tis but a scratch"
  13.  
  14. With the cultists defeated they investigate the wooden construct humanoid and the prisoner.
  15.  
  16. The prisoner is prince Verniron, and he tells them hes been there for weeks.
  17. The warforged explains what happened and how they got captured.
  18.  
  19. The four found some treasure in a room as they gathered their stuff and prepared to journey back home.
  20. [00:20] Robin [GraphX]: Session 2 Journey back to Bideford
  21. With the prince in tow the party prepares for the journey back.
  22. The warforged wooden man suddenly stops and shakes himself ‘awake’ from his slumber.
  23. He explains his name is Kai and he has quite the history. An avid fighter and a helpful individual.
  24.  
  25. Vitoli asks if they should retrieve the mirror from the walled mansion.
  26. The rest thinks it might be usefull to have such an item at their disposal.
  27. After a quick run around they see no entrance but decide to try the roof.
  28. They ‘help’ eachother out and make a hole in the roof big enough for a person or the mirror to pass through. With the mirror safe on the ground they set off to Bideford.
  29.  
  30. The group can tell which way is north thanks to Vitoli’s keen mind. And they set off traveling on foot.
  31. Eventually they tire out and set up camp near the tree line, Vitoli taking leomund's hut for himself.
  32. The others taking watch, during Al’s watch he spots a small figure 100ft ahead in the forest.
  33. A small child sobbing and silent ‘attaches’ himself to Al and follows him wherever he goes.
  34.  
  35. The following morning Al catches breakfast and they set out for the second leg of their journey.
  36. At a certain point 2 horses with a cart attached slowly catch up to them. There are 3 traveling merchants that brought a couple of crates with them to sell in Bideford. They decide to travel together to Bideford.

  38. Suddenly a howl, and 2 large figures sprinting towards the cart, worg riders approach, it’s an ambush.
  39. Several goblin and bugbear come out of the woods and attack the party. The gnome is hit but hangs on by a thread. The child got hit by the large black bugbear chief, dissapating as if it was never there.
  40.  
  41. Picking themselves up and looting any valuables Vitoli casts detect magic trying to find something of value. The only things he spots are the equipment from the other adventurers and a blip of abjuration magic from one of the crates. He inquires persistently while the gnomes tells him off several times.
  42. [00:20] Robin [GraphX]: After a couple more hours of travel they reach the walls of Bideford. The prince, angry and upset scolds the guards as they look at him confused. It seems everyone here thinks the prince is in the castle safe and sound.
  43. Confused they let him pass. They cart undergoes quick inspection and is let through after a quick lookaround.
  44.  
  45. The party follows the prince to the castle, odd looks and curious people on the street looking at a beat up prince that is furiously muttering to himself. They reach the castle with the same spiel as earlier, the guards are convinced that Sylnan is still inside the castle.
  46.  
  47. Storming inside Sylnan leads the way the party following the prince. He enters the study and yells IMPOSTER! As a chaotic brawl enfolds inside the study, the ‘imposter’ fleeing from the scene through the window.
  48. However Al Jumps after him, lands in the body of water beneath, and Vitoli shoots a ray of sickness disabling the ‘imposter’. Al brings him back up to the study and the guards start investigating the situation thoroughly. Kai and Vitoli have a 'chat'.
  49. The party is offered to stay in the guest rooms and they take a long and well deserved rest.
  50. [17:08] Robin [GraphX]: Session 3 The magic book incident
  51. One of the servants of the castle woke up the party early the following morning. They were to present their case to Lady Isobel Verniron.
  52. There were several people present in the room, 1 of them being a cleric of some kind. He was introduced to be a good friend of Lady isobel and a member of Storm and Hammer.
  53.  
  54. Victor stepped forward and let the cleric cast Zone of truth on him, proving that he was speaking the truth.
  55. Lady Isobel tells the party that they have the imposter in chains but is currently unable to extract any useful information from him.
  56. The party tells her that they do not currently have means of assisting lady Isobel on that matter, Vitoli does make some argument for torture but was quickly dismissed.
  57.  
  58. Lady Isobel offers the party compensation for saving her son Sylnan. She asks for their desires.
  59. The party is hesitant but asks for a couple of things. Lady Isobel tells them their request shall be honored.
  60.  
  61. After leaving castle Verniron they make sure to set up rooms in the adventurers guild hall.
  62. The party takes a look at the quest board and are deciding their next target.
  63. Vitoli is captivated by a quest about some kind of magic book that had apperantly spawned some mystical beasts.
  64. Al let's the party know he wants to go west to find the Haggar clan for their coming of age ritual.
  65. [17:08] Robin [GraphX]: After taking up both quests they set out to shop at Gnome Depot.
  66. Vitoli meats up with Mateo and the other merchants from earlier. They have put together a small donation for their efforts to protect them on their way to Bideford.
  67. Vitoli accepts it and inquires about the magic item they were bringing in,
  68. (again) but Mateo gives and shows him the item. After which Vitoli promptly tells him he's not buying it anyway, well maybe later.
  69. Pissing of Mateo slightly in the process.
  70.  
  71. After getting some goods from Gnome Depot they set out to find the guy who requested help with the magic book.
  72. The party approaches a small house, inside an old man asks them their business.
  73. They explains they're there to help out with the book. He shows them a page with the description of wolves.
  74. And tells them that there used to be a drawing of a large wolf on one of the pages. That same page is now empty.
  75.  
  76. They inquire about what else had removed itself from the pages. The old man has some trouble recalling exactly what had left the pages, afraid to open them.
  77. He read about the Large wolves, about some Harpies and something that looked like a Lion.
  78. [17:22] Robin [GraphX]: They do some investigating around and quickly find tracks of the 3 described creatures.
  79. First they find that 2 large wolves had taken up residence inside one of the abandoned buildings close by.
  80. They then track harpy feathers using Vitoli's familiar, which promptly returns to alert them of the 2 harpies just outside the city walls.
  81. They easily take care of the creatures of fairy tales, they seem to dissappear shortly after dying.
  82.  
  83. Tracking what they think to be Lion paws they stumble upon a transition into cart tracks. They follow them to the stables.
  84. They question a local Stableboy but Al has a short fuse and storms off to find out whats in the large shed in the back himself.
  85. That triggers the stable boy to yell for the guards. Vitoli quickly turns invisible (again) and goes around back now that some commotion has presented itself.
  86. Victor looking at the whole ordeal from afar, silent and with his paw on his face.
  87.  
  88. The guards check out the situation and try to find out what the hubbub is about. Kai takes the lead and explains the situation.
  89. After a few moments they all hear a loud roar and a loud thump. Vitoli had broken in through the backdoor and had damaged whatever creature that was inside, in a cage.
  90. But it quickly broke out of said cage and bit Vitoli with one of it's heads. It's dark and it's hard to make out what kinbd of creature this is.
  91.  
  92. It's a race to unlock one of the large front doors to find out what's happening inside.
  93. Vitoli escapes by a hair as he's yelling for help outside of the large shed.
  94. A battle with a 3 headed creature unfolds, with the guards turning tail and running.
  95.  
  96. Kai, Victor and Al quickly make work of the creature, with Al landing the final blow.
  97.  
  98. After the dust settles they go looking for the owner, the stableboy running away.
  99. Vitoli grabs him to interrogate him by himself.
  100. While Al gags and ties the owner up to interrogate him later.
  101. [11:50] Robin [GraphX]: Side Session 4: Curly Cletus and his quest for the forgotten.
  102. It turns out that hogtying a man in public is questionable at best.
  103. And thus Kai and Al were taken into custody by the guards that got to the scene as soon as the roaring stopped.
  104.  
  105. Vitoli and Victor had already backed away from the situation and went back to the Adventurers guild. Kai & Al can handle themselves for the time being.
  106. They took a breather at the bar.
  107.  
  108. It was then that a clumsy looking fellow walked in and started asking around. He eventually came to their table and presented them with an offer. His name was Curly Cletus, a bard and long time adventurer.
  109. During his travels he came accross some ancient writings of some place. He was looking for some kind of key and of course more information on this place.
  110. [12:10] Robin [GraphX]: Vitoli and Victor had some time to kill and they agreed to help him look for this supposed key. They would share loot equally. They prepared for the journey the following morning.
  111.  
  112. Following Cletus' they eventually find a thick forested area with a small clearing. A broken tower like structure, just 1 story tall, a small pond.
  113.  
  114. The group inspects the ruins, Victor walks out back and checks out an odd looking cellar door.
  115. Tries to open it. The door morphs and sticks to Victor's hand.
  116. Cletus and Vitoli rushing in to aid.
  117. They make short work of the Mimic.
  118. Below they find a cellar below ground level filled with bones.
  119.  
  120. The cellar leads into another hallway,the hallways slopes down, and after checking out the surroundings they find pressure plates on the ground.
  121. Victor gracefully stepping over them.
  122. While Cletus tries to dismantle the contraption, accidentally triggering it.
  123. A large axe blade swings past his head while he's bend over next to the pressure plate.
  124. With Vitoli's aid they dismantle all the traps in the hallway.
  125.  
  126. They come to a T section.
  127. They take a right and find themselves in a dank hallway, slick walls.
  128. The hallways slopes down just enough and eventually they walk into a room filled with water. The light of Lightbringer bouncing off the wet walls and surface of the water.
  129.  
  130. Checking out the room they see a large ornate red and gold door.
  131. But also pits, underneath the surface of the water.
  132. They find a Immovable rod and a Silver longsword in them.
  133. Victor decides to push on ahead and tries putting the mirror on the walls and the door. Nothing happens so he tries to open the Large ornate door. As soon as he touches the handle he hears a shifting of heavy stones and a splash is heard as Victor falls into a hole filled with water and dead bloated bodies.
  134. [12:22] Robin [GraphX]: Cletus and Vitoli help Victor out of the water just before the stone shifts back, they touch the handle of the door with a 10 foot pole.
  135. The same trap triggers, Vitoli speaks up and says 'must be a decoy'.
  136. They check out the other room.
  137.  
  138. They find themselves in a smooth stone room, there are no exits besides the hallway they came from and a large square hole in the middle. On the all written in crimson red and glowing slightly is a text.
  139. "Spare me the effort and throw thyeselves in mine pit"
  140.  
  141. They check out the pit, which turns out to be a false endless pit.
  142. Some sort of darkness and silence effect exists in the pit and with the help of Vitoli's familiar they check out whether it's safe. Which it is.
  143.  
  144. They sheepishly go through the hole one by one.
  145. Ending up in a hallway which leads to a metal door.
  146. They open it and are greeted by a dark purple yellow light throughout a chamber.
  147. At the end of the chamber is a large statue of a gargoyle with piercing ruby eyes. They prepare an attack but with their focus on the statue ahead they get ambushed by the gargoyle statue behind them on top of the door.
  148.  
  149. Vitoli has a close encounter with the gargoyles and some stirges they flew in from a hole above the door. The party finishes them and prepares to push on.
  150. [12:37] Robin [GraphX]: Victor pushes open the large crimson double doors and the room behind them flares up with the same purple and yellow light.
  151. He can see a black and silver coffin at the end on a raised platform.
  152. Vitoli speaks up and says it might be a good idea to rest up and recover and push on early in the morning.
  153.  
  154. Victor leaves the door open and backs away, they move back into the room with the gargoyle statue and with leomunds tiny hut bed down for the night. They hear shifting though the night from the other room but pay no attention to it.
  155.  
  156. The following morning they decide that they might be dealing with a vampire and prepare wooden stakes. Vitoli checks out the bone filled cellar and recovers some bones to animate 2 skeletons.
  157. Victor is disgusted by this act and seeks solace in the the forest.
  158. He has a moment with his deity.
  159. He also finds a Dark curved sword in the pile of bones.
  160.  
  161. They prepare for battle and head back to the large ornate double doors still open. the coffin still closed, they set foot in the room and the light flares up again. They prep to make quick work of this creature and a suddenly jumped from behind.
  162.  
  163. A bat skitters behind them and suddenly morphs into a noble looking humanoid with sharp faciak features and large teeth.
  164.  
  165. Cletus steps in front and casts Charm person.
  166. The face of the humanoid creature changes from angry to relaxed.
  167.  
  168. Cletus asks if he can have the piece of jewelry on the man's hand.
  169. On his hand is a golden ring with a crimson red swirly jewel.
  170. The vampire responds "This is not for a mortal".
  171. They ask his name he says his name is Brandyr.
  172. Vitoli is intrigued by the situation and Cletuis asks how he could obtain the jewel.
  173. [12:37] Robin [GraphX]: The vampire speaks up and says, "i could turn you."
  174. Victor grabs a stake and raises it in the air while Vitoli's eyes light up with excitement.
  175. Brandyr is promptly stabbed with the stake and lays still on the ground.
  176.  
  177. Victor starts hacking into it banishing its foul essence to the nethers.
  178. He carves off his arm with his new black curves sword.
  179. The arm has the ring on it and cletus picks it up and distances himself from the others.
  180. [12:50] Robin [GraphX]: They turn the vampire to dust,
  181. As some sort of pink mist rises from the dust.
  182.  
  183. They follow the pink mist into a grate and try to open it.
  184. Vitoli tries some parts of the wall and reveals a hidden room with another coffin just like the other.
  185. The pink mist resting within it.
  186.  
  187. They find a bunch of loot which they distribute as fair as can be.
  188. They can't figure out how to get rid of the pink mist and leave it be.
  189. Leaving this ruin behind them they return to Bideford.
  190. [12:54] Robin [GraphX]: TL;DR
  191. Cletus recruits Vitoli and Victor for a quest for the forgotten lore and some sort of key.
  192. They find a ruined tower in a thick forest.
  193. They encounter a mimic and several tricks and traps.
  194. They find hints towards this being a lair of a vampire.
  195. They fight 2 gargoyle statues and several stirges.
  196. The party decides to come up with a strategy to deal with a vampire.
  197. Cletus charms the Vampire and a interesting offer is made.
  198. Victor is having none of it and stabs it with a stake making short work of the vampire.
  199. They find loot and the key that Cletus was looking for.
