1.
Are you working on your Cadence story for 917, Anon?
2.
3. >You are Princess Cadence
4. >Love given physical form.
5. >Primary Ruler of the Crystal Empire.
6. >In three words,
7. >Pretty,
8. >Pink,
9. >Perfect.
10. >Beloved by all, save one.
11. >And that drives you bonkers.
12. >
13. >You grind your teeth as you skulk about in front of his home, glaring at the offending wooden door that separates the two of you.
14. >He's in there now, preparing for his day, undoubtedly going to spend it with that brash blue pegasus who always accompanies your sister-in-law.
15. >You stomp your hoof in frustration
16. "Ooh he makes me so mad!"
17. >For good reason.
18. >Anonymous, the human, is utterly immune to your magical charm.
19. >In fact, he seems to show no interest in you at all.
20. >Something about you reminding him of a female on his world called 'Mary Sue'.
21. >Well, you'll show him Mary Sue!
22. >You can win him over without magic!
23. >It can't be that hard.
24. >Right?
25. >With a shake of your head, you steel your confidence and trot up to his door.
26. >Holding your head high, you reach your hoof up and rap thrice on the oaken slab.
27. >There's a rustling from inside, a few brief mumbles and then, the door clicks open.
28. >A single eye peers out at you from the darkness.
29. >"Oh. It's you."
30. >So informal...
31. >You force a smile and tilt your head to the side.
32. "Good morning, Anonymous. I was in the area, and I thought to myself that it might be nice for us to spend the day together."
33. >He proceeds to shut the door in your face.
34. >While you stand in place, thoroughly stunned by his lack of respect, there is a series of clicks and clacks before the door opens again.
35. >Well, you were certainly wrong about the human getting ready.
36. >He's disheveled, his clothes carrying countless creases, probably from being slept in the night before.
37. >The faint stink of alcohol tickles at your nostrils as he gives an enormous sigh.
38. "Seriously?"
39. “Of course I'm serious! You never come with Twilight to visit us in the Crystal Kingdom, so I thought I'd come to you!"
40.
41.
42.
43. >You do your best to maintain a steady smile, though you're fairly certain you've already faltered.
44. >Still, the human looks at you, his vacant bleary eyes half-lidded from the constant intrusion of sunlight.
45. >With an undignified scratch of his middle Anonymous sighs again and shrugs his shoulders.
46. >"What did you have in mind?"
47. >Now's your chance to strike!
48. >Your smile widens as you pull your satchel from your back and open it.
49. >Anonymous leans over and takes a look inside, undoubtedly impressed by the sheer amount of food you brought with you.
50. >He'll be putty in your hands.
51. >You elevate your head a little and don a self-assured smile.
52. "I thought that perhaps you might want to join me for a picnic on the hillside."
53. >"Not interested."
54. "Good, then let's make ha-"
55. >Your mouth hangs open, caught on the words as you brain processes what Anonymous just said.
56. >He makes a disgusted face, his lip curling even as he digs in his ear with one of his fingers.
57. >"I just said I wasn't interested. If there's nothing else, I'm going back to bed."
58. >Despite your attempts to make sense of what just happened, no words escape your lips.
59. >Eventually, Anonymous sighs and closes the door on you, muttering something about hangovers.
60. >It takes quite some time for you to collect yourself, but by that point you've already slunk away in shame.
61. "I just don't understand, why he wouldn't take me up on the offer?"
62. >You munch absently on an apple as you fume your way through Ponyville Plaza.
63. "Everyp0ny needs food!"
64. >With a sigh, you toss the remains of the apple in the trash, deciding what to do next.
65. "I suppose, the easiest thing to do would be to give up..."
66. >The thought very nearly breaks your heart.
67. >Simply out of the question.
68. >Which leaves...
69. >Setting your lips, you stomp your hoof and declare,
70. "Anonymous, I will make you love me!"
71. >With a satisfied humph, you make plans for tomorrow, ignoring the gaping ponies you leave in your wake.
72. >Tomorrow, you’ll get him for sure!
73.
74.
75.
How’s that Cadence story for 917 coming, Anon?
76.
77. >Day Two
78. >It’s not easy, being the Princess of Love.
79. >Everyone expects you to be perfect all the time.
80. >Which you are.
81. >But, sometimes there are individuals that make keeping up appearances difficult.
82. >Like Anonymous.
83. >The one creature in all of Equestria who isn’t in love with you.
84. >If you hadn’t seen his dismissive attitude with your own eyes, you wouldn’t have believed it.
85. >But it’s true.
86. >Simply put, the human does not like you.
87. >He has a very poor opinion of what you stand for and a pony Princess.
88. >And it’s your responsibility to change his attitude towards you.
89. >Though, that may be more difficult that it appears.
90. >After your spectacular flop of an attempt yesterday, you decided it would be best to wait until the human Anonymous was actually out of his house before approaching him.
91. >It was nearly noon by the time he made his way outside, hands in his pockets as he lopes down the streets of Ponyville.
92. >It takes a great deal of restraint not to grind your teeth at the sight of him.
93. >However, without that door in the way, you’re quite certain that you can coerce him into spending time with you.
94. >And then your sparkling character can blow him out of the water!
95. >Puffing your chest out, you slink out from the bushes and clip-clop your way down the street until you’re walking abreast of him.
96. >Though he does an excellent job of hiding it, you see him notice your presence out of the corner of his eye.
97. >Anonymous doesn’t make any move to acknowledge your being there, however, so it falls to you to clear your throat to get his ‘attention’.
98. “Good day, Anonymous.”
99. >“Huh? Oh, it’s you… again.”
100. >Grinning from ear to ear, you lift your head and give a quick laugh of approval.
101.
102.
103. “That’s right! Since we didn’t get an opportunity to spend time together yesterday, I thought it might be nice for the two of us to take a walk through the park. We could take the chance to get to know one another.”
104. >“I don’t really see why, it’s not like I live in the Crystal Empire. I mean, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve met you.”
105. >Oh, trying to weasel his way out already, huh?
106. >He won’t get away that easily!
107. >You do your best to suppress your excited smile.
108. “But you’re such good friends with my sister-in-law that I simply must take the time to get to know you!”
109. >Anonymous gives an exhausted sigh, but nods his head.
110. >Your heart flutters in anticipation.
111. >This is it!
112. >“Fine. I’ve got some things to take care of in town, but let’s meet up in the park in, say, an hour?”
113. >Though you didn’t think it possible, you smile even wider, a happy hop working its way into your gait.
114. “Wonderful! It’s a da-”
115. >Giving a quick cough, you reign yourself in and adopt a much more demure expression.
116. “A day in the park.”
117. >Anonymous groans and waves his hand a little bit before picking up his pace and hurrying into town.
118. >Unable to hide your excitement any longer, you bounce your way into the park, eager for the time to pass.
119. >Making note of the time, you settle in to a comfortable spot on a park bench to wait the human out.
120. >He’ll be here before the hour is up.
121. >You can just feel it!
122. >
123. >
124. >
125. >The shadows are beginning to become long and looming by the time the in the town square strikes five.
126. >Your flank is providing painful protest as you squirm again against the wooden structure, trying to find a comfortable position to wait.
127. “H-he’ll be here soon.”
128. >You don a weak smile, feeling your teeth clutch your lower lip.
129. “I, I just know it…”
130. >
131. >
132. >
133. >Somehow, your second attempt was an even more colossal failure than the first.
134. >Because, for the first time ever.
135. >You were stood up.
136. >But you can’t give up.
137. >You’ll make him love you tomorrow, for sure!
138. >For sure…
139.
140.
141.
Anon, pls
142. >Day Three
143. >On some level, you’re afraid you’re losing your touch.
144. >Twice you’ve approached Anonymous the Human about spending time together.
145. >Twice you’ve been denied, once to your face, and once by him blowing you off.
146. >The thought of not being able to win others over with your personal charm is rather disconcerting.
147. >Getting Anonymous to like you is quickly becoming an all-consuming part of your life.
148. >He has to like you!
149. >Doing your best to settle the butterflies in your stomach, you approach Anon as he’s eating lunch at the Ponyville Pasta Factory.
150. >As luck would have it, he doesn’t notice you until you’re right next to his table.
151. >With your shadow looming over his plate, Anonymous lifts his head.
152. >A small part of you delights in the fact that his pupils shrink to the size of pinpricks.
153. >You smile in response.
154. >Elegant and measured, it’s certain to win over the hearts of anyone who sees it.
155. >Save for the distinct note of disapproval you manage to squeeze in.
156. >The human takes notice, squirming in discomfort as he slurps stray strings of pasta through his lips.
157. >“Oh, uh, hey, Princess Cadence…”
158. “Hello again, Anonymous. Would you mind if I joined you?”
159. >You don’t wait for him to respond before channeling your magic into the chair across from him.
160. >It slides out with relative ease, allowing you to plop your royal posterior upon it.
161. >Your smile softens to something more regal and forgiving.
162. >“Um, sure have a seat.”
163. “I thought as much.”
164. >Scooting the chair closer, you lean over the table, just a little, placing your face nearer to his.
165. >A good ten inches separate the two of you, but you can begin to see beads of pore provided perspiration peek across his forehead.
166. >Giving an audible gulp, Anonymous is quick to clear his throat and attempt to recover.
167. >Watching him squirm, for some reason, brings a very real smile to your lips as a thrill runs up your spine.
168.
169.
170.
171. >“If, if this is about yesterday, I can explain-”
172. >You give a dismissive wave of your hoof and sit back in your chair.
173. “Anonymous, please, I am well aware of how distractions can appear out of thin air. I’m sure that you were simply too preoccupied to remember to meet me in the park. Right?”
174. >Another confident, but warning-filled grin has the human sweating again.
175. >Good.
176. >He should know that you’re serious about getting to know him.
177. >This is important, after all!
178. >Who does he think he is, standing up a Princess?
179. >The table gives a sudden, unexpected quiver, snapping you from your reverie.
180. >Anonymous’ hands have attached themselves to either side of the table, shuddering violently as he gnaws on his lip.
181. >Perhaps, you pushed a bit too far…
182. >Best to set things right.
183. >Giving him a pleasant smile, you lean closer again.
184. “Anonymous, what I mean is that we should spend lunch tog-”
185. >An abnormally large table tremor causes you to push yourself back in surprise.
186. >At that point, everything seems to slow down.
187. >Anonymous lets out a squeak of surprise.
188. >The table moves quite a bit closer to him.
189. >The human frantically tries to stop the oncoming woodwork with his palms.
190. >And he just so happens to succeed.
191. >But the plate of spaghetti continues to move forward.
192. >Falling straight into the still stunned sapien’s lap.
193. >Noodles and sauce ooze over and down Anonymous’ legs, landing on the ground with slick squelches and pops.
194.
195.
196.
197. >A look of disgust crosses the human’s face, even as he lifts his eyes towards you.
198. >With your face redder than his sauce stained slacks, you levitate a napkin from a neighboring table, and move to try and assist him.
199. “Oh, oh my goodness. Please, let me help you clean yo-”
200. >Grunting in frustration, Anonymous tosses his own napkin aside and pushes the table towards you with a rude growl.
201. >He storms out of the dining area and into the bathroom, leaving you alone with the entire restaurant staring at you.
202. >The best you can manage is a nervous laugh as you glance around to the other tables, wearing a strained smile.
203. “Just, just a slip…”
204. >They clearly don’t buy it.
205. >While Anonymous is still in the bathroom, you call the waiter over and sheepishly pay for the human’s meal, slipping out before he can return.
206. >Another day, another disaster.
207. >But, at least you’re making progress!
208. >…Right?
209.
210.
211.
212.
Remember 917, Anon.
213. >Day Four
214. >Laying low in the bushes in front of Anonymous’ home, you’re stuck fighting the urge to bury your head into the dirt and hide forever.
215. >Each time you approach Anonymous, something goes terribly wrong.
216. >Maybe this is all a mistake.
217. >After all, he’s not even a pony, just a resident of Equestria.
218. >Possibly not even a permanent one.
219. >Twilight said she was searching for a way to send him home.
220. >Do you really need the love of every sentient being in Equestria?
221. >Are you really that shallow?
222. >Heaving a sigh, you prepare to push yourself up from your hiding place when you hear Anonymous’ door creak open.
223. >Hunkering back down on the ground, you peer out at him through the greenery, watching as he glances about suspiciously and then shuts the door behind him.
224. >In that moment, you realize that no, you’re not that shallow.
225. >Because it’s really important that everyp0ny love you!
226. >Even if they’re not a pony!
227. >You prepare to approach Anonymous again, but notice that he seems especially wary today.
228. >Although, you can’t really blame him.
229. >The past three days, you’ve been quite an inconvenience.
230. “That’s putting it lightly…”
231. >Catching your disobedient tongue between your teeth, you mull over your options for the day.
232. >It’s pretty clear that Anonymous is very high strung from your recent attempts at gaining his love.
233. >If you were to approach today and fail to win him over yet again, you might lose him forever.
234. >What a terrible thought!
235. >Perhaps, it would be best if you simply followed him around for the day.
236. >Yes, that seems like a good idea.
237. >Stalk…
238. >Er, observe from a distance.
239. >Without revealing yourself.
240. >Yes, of course!
241. >That will give you plenty of ideas for how to endear him to you in the future!
242. >Cadenza, you’re a genius!
243.
244.
245.
246. >Suppressing a rather devious chuckle, you keep your belly low to the ground and pursue your prey.
247. >Before long, he meets up with Twilight’s pegasus friend.
248. >Rainboom Crash, or something like that.
249. >The two exchange pleasantries, bumping hooves and hands together before they make their way down to the swimming hole.
250. >As you lurk among the high grasses a short ways away, you watch as Anonymous begins to relax, the obvious tension leaving his shoulders and back.
251. >His easy laugh sends a not uncomfortable chill down the length of your body.
252. >Oh, to make him laugh like that…
253. >You resolve to study the pegasus’ antics, in order to find out how she’s won over the brooding human.
254. >
255. >
256. >
257. >Eventually, you sigh in exhaustion, rolling over onto your back.
258. >Your hooves splay in different directions as you stare up at the sky in disgust.
259. >She’s so… unladylike!
260. >Bouncing about like a hyperactive foal, obsessed with her perceived image and always demanding attention.
261. >Puffing a stray strand of your mane out of your eyes, you find yourself grumbling.
262. “What’s so great about her?”
263. >Feeling your heart sink in your chest, you close your eyes and decide that you will simply have to chalk today as a loss.
264. >As you roll back onto your belly to sneak away, a stray sound catches your ears.
265. >“So, Anon I hear that you’ve got yourself a fan.”
266. >A fan?
267. >Really?
268. >Your interest is piqued again as you squirm through the grass, squinting over at the two friends.
269. >Perhaps you can learn more by observing this ‘fan’ of Anonymous.
270. >Maybe make a short visit if it’s a mare.
271. >Just to make sure that she’s clear on who’s who in Anonymous’ life.
272. >You see the human sigh and roll his eyes.
273.
274.
275.
276. >“C’mon Dash, it’s not like that.”
277. >A slow sense of dread fills you.
278. >He said it wasn’t like that.
279. >That means it’s a very good chance that it COULD be like that and he’s just trying to hide it out of embarrassment!
280. >What a terrible revelation!
281. >Groaning, you bury your snout in the dirt and shake your head.
282. “No. No, no, no, no…”
283. >“Ha, ha, yeah right! From what I’ve heard, Princess Cadence has been visiting you at your house every day!”
284. >In an instant, your protests fall silent.
285. >You smile into the grit pressing against your muzzle as you lift your head, taking a moment to wipe your face clean with a hoof.
286. >Another sigh from the human.
287. >“I already said, it’s not like that…”
288. >His voice trails off, leaving you unable to hear what he’s saying.
289. >Just as you shift your eyes to focus on his lips, he turns his head to face the irritating flying pony, leaving you completely in the dark on what’s being said!
290. >Chewing on your lower lip, you strain your ears to try and hear the secrets being shared.
291. >“…like, I like her.”
292. >As Boyish Blue gives a steady, measured nod, you find your hooves clutched tight across the barrel of your body.
293. >Your heart is beating at an incredible pace, and you fear if you move your legs, it will simply burst out of your chest.
294. >But you can’t hide the broad smile that dances across your lips.
295. >Closing your eyes, you breathe a sigh of relief.
296. “He likes me…”
297. >You should have known it all along.
298. >You’re Princess Cadence.
299. >Love is in your job description.
300. >Even the coldest, most callous heart is not immune to your charms.
301. >Biting back a giggle, you roll from side to side on your back, kicking your hind legs in delight.
302.
303.
304.
305. >“Hey.”
306. >Eh?
307. >Your eyes open quickly as you look up into the sky.
308. >The displeased face of Anonymous greets you.
309. >His lips are set into a thin line, his brow furrowed with frustration.
310. >“What the hell do you think you’re doing here?”
311. >You open your mouth to speak.
312. >Honestly, you give it your very best shot.
313. >But your tongue is simply too tied up in knots at the sight of your target.
314. >With an uncomfortable cough, you flit your eyes to the left.
315. >He turns to look in the direction you’re staring.
316. >And then you make your escape!
317. >Your hooves clatter against the dirt pathway as you hurry away from the swimming hole.
318. >Even though you were caught, you can’t help but smile.
319. >He likes you.
320. >He really likes you!
321. >But he’s holding himself back because you’re a married mare.
322. “Such a gentlecolt.”
323. >You give a soft sigh and take to the air.
324. >The weightless feeling within your chest seems to make flight that much easier.
325. >Tomorrow, you will renew your attempts to get Anonymous to admit his feelings to you.
326. >And when he does…
327. >A great sense of delight overtakes you at the thought.
328. >Love conquers all, indeed.
329.
330.
331.
332.
333.
Don’t let me down, Anon
334. >Day Five.
335. >Five.
336. >Traditionally represented as the letter V
337. >V
338. >For VICTORY!
339. >Remembering Anonymous’ silent confession from the day before, you stroll through Ponyville with a sense of pride that you haven’t felt since the human first rejected you.
340. >But that was then and this is now.
341. >Today, you’ll break his prideful spirit and get him to admit to your face how wonderful you are!
342. >Without hesitation, you knock on the human’s door and wait.
343. >No response.
344. >Before depression can settle in, you rationalize the situation.
345. “Ah ha, it must be that Anonymous has simply had too much to drink, again. Another knock will surely rouse him from his drunken stupor.”
346. >Rat-ta-tat-tat
347. >…
348. >Nothing.
349. >A slow, uneasy grin crosses your lips as you lift your hoof again, another quick rap upon the wooden portal.
350. >Still no response.
351. >Rearing up onto your hind legs, you bring your golden-shoed hooves down upon the door again and again.
352. >The percussive beat is frantic and without form or grace, but really you don’t care.
353. >With barely contained rage, you seethe through your teeth.
354. “Why. Isn’t. He. ANSWERING?”
355. >“Excuse me?”
356. >You turn and see a small pegasus filly, orange of coat and with a purple mane, propping herself up on a scooter.
357. >She wears a sly, evil smile and raises an eyebrow at your current state.
358. >With as regal a cough as you can manage, you collect yourself and don a friendly smile.
359. “H-hello there, little filly.”
360. >“Hey.”
361. >So unrefined…
362. >Before you can come up with a suitable response, the filly fills in the silence for you.
363. >“You looking for Anon?”
364. >Color threatens to drain from your face as you back up into the door keeping you from your prey.
365. “Wh-what would give you that idea?”
366. >“Well, you’re pounding on his door pretty hard, so it’s just a guess.”
367. >A few stray strands of your mane drift in front of your face.
368. >Out of habit, you begin gnawing on the tips.
369. >The filly, she knows too much!
370. >At this rate, you’ll have to…
371. >“Anyway, he’s not home right now. He went out to work.”
372. >Anonymous?
373. >Work?
374. >Well, he must make his living somehow…
375. “Oh…”
376. >The inevitable cracking of your mind is superseded by the sudden breaking of your heart.
377. >As the tiny, useless pieces flutter down into the pit of your stomach, you turn to walk away, your body feeling heavy and bloated.
378. >“Um, y’know, you could just leave him a note?”
379. >Your ears perk up at that as you turn to face the filly.
380. >She tilts her head to the side and gives you an uncomfortable smile.
381. >“Just, slip it under his door?”
382. “Yes, a note.”
383. >It’s perfect!
384. >Rubbing your forehooves together, you fail to capture the cackle that escapes your lips.
385. >The filly shakes her head and mumbles something under her breath before buzzing her wings and sending the scooter off in a puff of smoke.
386. >Well, forget her!
387. >You have a note to write!
388. >It will be perfect in every way!
389. >Anonymous will surely fall in love with you from the moment he lays eyes on the first word!
390. >Pulling a piece of parchment and quill from your saddle bags, you begin to take a letter.
391. “Dear Anonymous…”
392. >What an amazing start!
393. >Cadenza, if this Princess of the Crystal Empire gig doesn’t work out, you should consider becoming a world renowned author!
394. >Puffing your chest out in pride, you bring the tip of the quill to your lips as you begin to form the words which will win Anonymous’ heart.
395. >A moment passes…
396. >And then another…
397. >Then several more…
398. >Fifteen minutes later, you’re sweating bullets, letting your eyes rove over everything that you have so far.
399. “Dear Anonymous, Dear Anonymous, Dear Anonymous, Dear Anonymous, Dear Anonymous…”
400. >It’s not happening!
401. >You put too much pressure on yourself at the beginning!
402. >The words, which once flowed like water over a ledge, have forsaken you!
403. >How do you follow up such an incredible start?
404. >Oh Cadenza, you fool!
405. >You enormous fool!
406. >With a screech of frustration, the quill leaps from your lips and begins to write on its own.
407. >When your wail subsides, you crack open your eyes and take a look at the paper.
408. “Dear Anonymous,
409. Do you like me?
410. Yes No
411. (Circle One)”
412. >…
413. >It’s so short.
414. >So simple.
415. >So…
416. “Perfect…”
417. >Giving a satisfied sigh, you bring the letter to your lips and give your masterpiece a kiss.
418. >A slight black stain adorns your written word in the shape of your lips.
419. >Apparently the ink from the quill stained them a little.
420. >But, it provides the parchment with a little bit of character.
421. >Humming to yourself, you fold up the paper and slide it under Anonymous’ door.
422. >He’ll be all yours soon.
423. >Puffing yourself up with pride, you strut through Ponyville, not noticing the stares you’re getting from those who observed your freakout.
424. >
425. >
426. >
427. >Halfway back to the Crystal Kingdom, a thought crosses your mind.
428. >It’s a terrible, awful thought.
429. >One that sends you spiraling out of the sky, wailing.
430. “I FORGOT TO SIGN THE LETTER!”
431.
432.
433.
This sure is a nice thread you've got here, Chrysy, mind if I cut in?
434.
435. >Day Six
436. >This is a mistake, you're sure of it.
437. >Yesterday, you left a love letter for Anonymous but forgot to sign it.
438. >Normally, this wouldn't have been an issue, the Human would have just thought he had another admirer in town.
439. >But it was nagging at you the whole way home and then late into the night.
440. >So much so that you couldn't get to sleep.
441. >In the end, you finally relented on a promise that you swore you would keep.
442. >You decided to work with a pony you detest more than anyone else
443. >Because only she could get you the note back.
444. >Surprisingly, she agreed to your terms and said to meet her at this tavern outside of Ponyville tonight.
445. >You arrived about an hour ago, and can't help but notice that it's full of shady, detestable characters.
446. >You shift in discomfort as the hired help trots into your secret meeting place.
447. >She glances around a few times before her eyebrows raise in recognition.
448. >Offering up an apologetic smile, you pull out the chair for her with your magic, allowing her to sit down across from you.
449. >Tossing her hood back, the Changeling Queen gives a bored sigh and slips the troublesome paper across the table to you.
450. >"Here."
451. >You hold back a squeal as you pull it under your cloak, glaring at Chrysalis from under the brim of the hood.
452. "Wh-what do you think you're doing, letting it out in the open like that?"
453. >The bug pony shrugs and offers a wry smile.
454. >"Please, I've been up down and all around that note trying to figure out what's so important about it. There's nothing to link you to it in the first place, so I don't know what you're so obsessed about getting it back."
455. >Glancing down at the floor you shuffle your hooves against the woodwork and struggle to come up with an answer.
456. "W-well, you see, I only wanted...."
457. >Words fail you and you're stuck just hanging your head.
458. >What were you thinking, Cadenza?
459. >What was so important about this note?
460. >Your cheeks puff out in frustration as Chrysalis begins to laugh at you, drawing a fair bit of attention in the process.
461. >"My, my, to think that you'd be tongue-tied about romance."
462. "Sh-shut up!"
463. >The marginally malevolent mare falls silent as she watches you.
464. >It's certainly uncomfortable, but you do still owe her payment.
465. >Just as you're about to ask her what she wants, the bug butts in again.
466. >"Is it because you're attracted to him?"
467. >Your head jerks up and you can feel the color pour from your face in the process.
468. >Chyrsalis wears a teasing grin that showcases her fangs, reflecting the barely there light of the candles.
469. "It's nothing like that."
470. >It, it really isn't...
471. >Unfortunately, the Changeling doesn't seem too convinced and rests her cheek on one of her hooves.
472. >"I think you are. What would your hubby say?"
473. >You glance away and scowl, but it's not like she doesn't have a point.
474. >You're a happily married mare trying to win over a single creature that doesn't even live in your kingdom.
475. >What's the point?
476. >Even as you think that, the words begin tumbling from your lips.
477. "Chrysalis, you don't understand. He, he hates me and I can't stand that!"
478. >Rolling her eyes, the Changeling shifts in her seat.
479. >"So what, I hate you too."
480. "But you appreciate my ability!"
481. >The carapace-covered mare opens her mouth to respond, but pauses and shrugs a little, relenting on that point.
482. "Anonymous, he doesn't even acknowledge me..."
483. >Falling silent again, you hang your head.
484. >Seconds crawl by before Chrysalis huffs again.
485. >"I don't see what you're so worried about. It's not like he's that great."
486. "What, what do you mean?"
487. >Waving her hoof in the air, the Changeling struggles to find the words to explain herself.
488. >"I don't know, he's oddly shaped, has a bad attitude and is constantly thinking about sex. I mean, I had to go through five different forms and then I had to agree to blow him to get in his house before we left the bar, can you believe that?"
489. >Chrysalis laughs but you feel your face go hot.
490. >She...
491. >She was intimate with him?
492. >Maybe, just maybe, you could try the same thing?
493. "Do you think that could work for me?"
494. >The Changeling Queen gives you an incredulous stare for a moment, then laughs and shakes her head.
495. >"I'm not going to recommend you try it unless you've got a lot of time on your hooves. I was working him over for six whole minutes, that's a lifetime!"
496. >So.
497. >Lewd.
498. >Talking about this without a care in the world.
499. >You stare down at the ground again, wondering if you could even figure out what to do in that sort of situation.
500. >Shining is a little, vanilla, you suppose, but that's fine!
501. >You, you like that.
502. >Right?
503. >"Anyway, he's real possessive of his body and his things, so stealing that back was a real pain. Now, about payment."
504. >As you snap back to attention, Chrysalis hums and glances around the bar, finally pointing out one of the muscular stallions near the back.
505. >"He'll do nicely."
506. >Reluctantly, you look the stallion over, but eventually nod and cast a spell on him.
507. >The pony looks confused for a moment, glancing about as if something had nipped at him, but quickly returns to his drinking.
508. >Chrysalis gives you an expectant look as you sigh.
509. "The trigger word is Bananas."
510. >The mare cheeses at you and shifts form, becoming a pretty pastel purple pegasus and hopping up from the table.
511. "R-remember, you can't hurt him!"
512. >Glancing back at you, the changeling rolls her eyes and chuckles.
513. >"Please, I just need a little bite, and this one looks like he'll do nicely."
514. >She runs her tongue over her lips and trots up to the stallion.
515. >Within two minutes they're out the door, the tail-flicking Chrysalis leading him along like a lovesick puppy.
516. >Which wasn't too far from the truth.
517. >You sigh and linger around the tavern a little longer before calling it a night.
518. >Chrysalis' words still ring in your ears, and doubt grips at your heart.
519. >What were your intentions towards Anonymous?
520. >How did you really feel about your husband?
521. >And what on earth had made you think it was a good idea to not only work with your mortal enemy, but give her some hapless stallion to sample?
522. "You're really slipping at this Princess game, Cadence."
523. >Still, something tells you that what you're doing with Anonymous is right.
524. >It's nothing serious, and if you can win him over, then you'll be validated as the Princess of Love.
525. >That's all that matters.
526. >Really...
