Scenario #1

You are Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney. You are in court, trying to prove the defendant, Larry Butz, is not guilty of the murder of the world-famous musician "Beyonce". Across the aisle is the prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth. Edgeworth says that you have a difficult job ahead of you. He brings the first witness to the stand: your childhood friend, Larry Butz.

"My name's Larry," he says nervously. "I was just playing with my friends when I heard some noise outside."

Edgeworth interrupts him. "And who were these boys?"

"They're my friends!" Larry protests. "We were just talking about how we should go out and play later on tonight! We weren't even planning on killing anyone!"

> You say "Clearly that's something someone would say if they were planning on killing somebody! Larry! Your're not doing yourself any favors with a testimony like that!"
"I know!" he says. "I'm sorry, Mr. Edgeworth!"
"Please, just Edgeworth will do. Now, where were you? You said you were playing outside? What's this area called?"
"It's just outside of town, so it's not part of the town itself. It's mostly trees and thick underbrush, but it connects to more open areas as well.

> You say "This is the so called "haunted forest" is that right? What were you doing there, of all places?"
"We were playing hide and seek! That's why it's called the haunted forest!"
"Ah, of course. So, uh... Mr. Butz, what was you were hiding from? Someone was chasing you?"
"Yeah! He - the murderer! He caught me and I thought I was done for!"
"By who?"
"I don't know, it's weird!

> You say "Can you give a description of the man?"
"It was a man, but I can't tell you anything about him! He was skinny, with long, curly black hair, and he wore a hoodie.

> You say "Anything else?"
"Yeah, he had a mustache!"
"A mustache?"
"Yeah!"
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, he was from out of town..."
"Okay, that's... really all I need."

> You say "So what did this person do to you when you met him?"
"He... he pushed me down and started to--"

> You say "To what?"
"Kiss me!"
"Okay, that's... really all I need.

> You say "Kiss you!? A complete stranger just randomly pushes you down and starts to kiss you!?!"
"Yeah..."
"That's... really all I need."
"Well, that's about it...

> You say "Remind me to never go into the haunted forest..."
"Huh?"
"Never mind... Mr. Edgeworth, I'm done."
"You sure are!"
"I need to head home now. I have a son to wake up from his nap."

> You say "Hold it! Larry you're not going anywhere! I want to know what happened when you found the body."
"I told you, he pushed me down and started to--"
"No, I want to hear it again!"
"Okay! But Mr. Edgeworth, I already told you everything important before!"

> You say "Okay I don't think Larry knows anything else about the murder."
"Alright, he didn't do it..."
"I can hardly believe it."
"Well, we'll see if anything else comes up. Edgeworth, I'll see you later.
