- I grew up with a lot of incredibly racist people who had no business being racist; I grew up in the 90s and 2000s, not during the dust bowl whatsoever. There’s something about being a white guy in Kentucky that invites racist white people to share their biased insights with you in public. People I work with are always saying some racist ass shit, and some sexist ass shit, because they have no idea that I’m a double agent. I don’t mean that I’m secretly black, because that’s not the case, despite how many candles I’ve blown out and wishbones I’ve had the larger end of; what I do is just tell on them to all of our black co-workers that they’re so friendly to in person.
- I’m so used to trying to ignore racist comments that some situations get a little confusing. I allowed a couple of my friends to exchange a large amount of marijuana in my house because neither of them were living with people who would be okay with them having a pound out on the table. Some guy had come over with one of my friends; I assume for security purposes, but this guy was distraught over his girlfriend cheating on him recently. He was telling his friend everything that was going on and said something like, “I’m sure as shit that she’s fucking that one nigger.” I was immediately annoyed and deciding whether or not it was worth it to get into it with this random guy in the middle of a “drug deal” but then remarkably the guy stopped talking and turned to me and said, “My bad man; I’m sorry for using language like that in your house; that was really impolite of me.”
- I was totally blown away by the fact that he says ignorant shit like that, but at the same time knows it’s wrong and has the social intelligence to apologize for it. I was contemplating the complexities of the racist mind when he rephrased his sentence: “I’m sure as crap she’s making love with that one nigger.”
