How Each Homestuck Character plays Pokemon
(Except the beforus trolls)

John: Somewhere between Average and Advanced. He's aware of how EV's and IV's work but he forgets the specifics and generally ignores them. His team is made up of balanced pokemon that can take and hit or two but also can dish out decent damage. Type coverage is good but has some holes. Favorite Pokemon: Whatever his starter is.

Rose: Uses unconventional type coverage (E.G. grass-type attack on a psychic type) but leans towards "overwhelming force" tactics. Likes using pokemon that force the opponent to use unusual tactics against her since they're generally not prepared. Favorite Pokemon: Elektross.

Dave: Insists that the original 150 were the best and has never played anything past R/B/Y, except the GBA remakes. Loves the Gen 1 games in all their broken glitchy glory. Has been known to use a team made up entirely of level 100 Metapods. Favorite Pokemon: Level 5 Mr. Mime, holding a great ball.

Jade: Sees her pokemon as her friends and plays with her favorites instead of just playing to win. Has shitty type coverage and dumb tactics but still has lots of fun. Favorite Pokemon: Growlithe/Arcanine.

Jane: Doesn't really get the appeal of the games but pretends to be into them and plays with her friends. Favorite Pokemon: Pikachu. It was the first one that came to mind when she was asked once.

Roxy: Loves these fucking games. They're all retro to her and she thinks the people who insist in paying Gen 1 because they're the oldest are dumb, because those games were broken and pretty shitty. Her favorite gen is the GBA games since they were the first ones where the game was actually balanced. She has good type coverage and comes up with decent strategies but kind of forgets them when she's actually in battle. Favorite Pokemon: Umbreon.

Dirk: Is secretly the creator behind Twitch Plays Pokemon.

Jake: Sees the world of Pokemon as a real humdinger of an adventure! But he wishes you could fight the monsters yourself instead of having your monsters fight them for you. Tends to use "big monstrous beast" Pokemon, doesn't really pay attention to type coverage. Favorite Pokemon: Heatran.

Karkat: Constantly complains that all these assholes are spending all their time staring at some retarded human video game screen, trading monsters back and forth like STDs. Plays in secret. He has one pokemon that he raises carefully and with love and affection, all the while calling it a piece of shit and saying he hates it. Favorite Pokemon: Dragonite. He had nicknamed it Terezi but got embarrassed and changed it back, then changed it to FUCKASS. Is very careful to not let it faint, instead resetting the game when he's about to lose.

Terezi: Two words: Dragon Tamer. Also has a level 1 Krabby as an HM slave, nicknamed K4RKL3S. She's the type to carefully breed her team to get good IV's and EV trains everything for speed and offense. Favorite Pokemon: Garchomp.

Vriska: All legendaries, hacked to have perfect IV' and illegal moves and abilities. Considers her team to be "o8jectively perfect" and "simply the 8est there is!!!!!!!!" Still loses to skilled/clever opponents because her tactics are garbage and she expects sheer power to win the game for her. Favorite Pokemon: Used to be Sableye with Wonder Guard, until Fairy types were added. Now she insist that only wigglers have a "favorite" and denies liking any of them.

Sollux: Thinks it's a stupid game for kids.

Nepeta: Has all the eeveelutions. In fact she has one of just about everything. She's a collector more than anything else. Favorite Pokemon: can never pick just one.

Eridan: Can't figure out why he can't get his stupid pokemon to evolve! He already got it up to level 100, why won't it evolve any more? Doesn't realize his starter has three stages and no pokemon has more than that. He's really attached to the thing but he keeps letting it faint so its Friendship is abysmal. Favorite Pokemon: his starter, which is always the water starter.

Feferi: Collects fish and other water-type pokemon. Not "collects" as in, one of each. "Collects" as in she has dozens of the same pokemon. She never does anything with the except occasionally look through her boxes. She's not sure what she'll do when she runs out of space. Maybe release them all? Favorite Pokemon: Omanyte.

Gamzee: Caught a glitch pokemon and scrambled his save. Doesn't realize that anything is wrong despite the garbled sprites and glitched text. Favorite Pokemon: his level 0 ------. He loves it despite having zero HP and being unplayable.

Tavros: Pokemon Master. He has caught every Pokemon in every main series game, and has 100%'d every side game, including the stupid ones. Favorite Game: Pokemon Ranger

Aradia: Hunts for rare pokemon, thoroughly checks every tile of every dungeon for hidden items. Is very interested in the deeper lore of the Pokemon world. Favorite Pokemon: Unown.

Equius: Breaks every Gameboy/DS/3DS he tries to power on. Watches Nepeta play instead, and tries to give her "sound tactical advice" despite not knowing anything about the game or RPG's in general. Has to excuse himself to get a towel every time Nepeta successfully catches something after a long, difficult battle.

Kanaya: Spends a lot of time looking for shiny pokemon.
