- VIII. Rick's dad is very stubborn, and all Rick wants to do is prove that he is man. Going out and risking his life just
- to prove that he's not a child anymore is something he faces daily. There is always a risk of being injured in
- combat. In the story he does end up getting wounded and departs from Vietnam due to the inability to engage in
- Charlie Ranger duties.
- IX. When Rick tries to save Whiley and ends up being bumrushed by gunfire of enemies. He ends up at a hospital
- which he spends several weeks recuparating. Being extremely resilient, Rick leaves the hospital and heads back
- home to the U.S.
- X. You can't count on ONLY experiences to change you, sometimes you just have to let time do it. Everyone changes
- overtime and life experiences.
- XI. You can mature quite fast when you are taking part of a war that is taking an abundent of lifes.
- XII. Yes, I believe I have benefited from reading Search and Destroy, it has let me inside of the minds of the
- Vietnam troops. Reading this book i've had a vicarious adventure of being a recent high school graduate and
- having to mature in a flash of an eye in the treturous land of Vietnam. Also, him being my age influences different
- perspectives a young adult might have.
- XIII. I would definetly recommend this book to whomever enjoys reading war novels and stories with fast paced
- events. It s a very detailed book and opens up some clarification on what occured in the Vietnam war era.
