Bulwark of the Empire

It is the year 1940 of the Imperial Calendar and the Eternal Empire of Xizagan still stands strong. Xizagan is a rich land due to the many river valleys protected by mountains, ocean, and desert. The Empire stretches from the far northern wastes home to the hardy frozen cities to the southern jungles with the many tribes and spice cities that call it home. The Empire has stood strong and prosperous for almost two thousand years, with a few periods of open rebellion, and merchants from lands near and far come to their ports for goods. However with prosperity comes decadence. You are not one so lucky to be a part of such luxury. You are a soldier. While praised when a threat is immediately apparent you are ignored all other times, and a threat has not been apparent in some years. You have been stationed at Zhǎng bǎo, the fort which blocks a pass among the western mountains. On the other side of the mountains is home to nomadic tribes and barbarous kingdoms which occasionally attack the fort. 'Lead' by General Xi Byang, who is off carousing in the nearby cities most of the time. Thankfully a tent town has basically set up behind the rear defenses or there may have been mass desertion a long time ago. However attacks have begun to pick up again, and you will be hard pressed to get aid from your higher ups. Will the barbarians step foot upon Imperial soil or will their blood paint the walls of the fort?
