- CORN CORN CORNY CORN CORN HAAAAHHHHHHH
- Life as a trainee was hard; that everyone knew. Of course the company wanted their trainees to showcase their talents just like their famous idols, right? Practice dancing, practice singing (for the most part anyway), go home, repeat. But not many people thought about the routine they made you go through to look like their idols. This was SM after all; physical appearance was the priority, and you weren't exactly a supermodel.
- In the normal world, you considered yourself pretty much average with everything and so did most of the people around you. In the entertainment world however, you still had a long way to go.
- You panted as the song ended and desperately reached for another bottle of water from your bag. You down half the bottle before heading back to choose another song to dance to. Your instructors had been on your back for quite a while about losing a few pounds, so this was the best exercise you could think of. You took a breath and went on with the choreography.
- You were aware of how much more sweat you were gonna have to put in order to meet their standards for you to become "idol-worthy". It didn't stop you, though. Nothing was stopping you now that you actually got in. Performing was your passion, and your voice was amazing; you could even admit that, but now was the time to get your ass into work.
- Another song, another bottle, a couple of minutes to catch your breath, from the top.
- "Whew," Sehun caught his breath after another one of his late night practices. The other boys had left a little over an hour ago, but he liked to stick around and get some dancing done on his own. Sometimes Kai would join him, but it wasn't too often since he would always tire himself out during the regular practice hours.
- He gathered his things and headed out, glancing at his watch as he flicked off the light switch. 10:15PM. That wasn't too long, he thought. Maybe he could make a quick bubble tea stop before heading back to the dorm. He continued to come down the hall, passing by the studio you had been using. He raises a brow, wondering who else would still be here for practice. The door was left slightly open, enough for him to see you sitting on the floor with another bottle of water in hand.
- "Ah," he forms with his mouth. Just another trainee, he shrugs and continues to walk down the hall when a faint thud caught him in his steps. It came from the room you were in. Was that from the trainee just now? He returns to the door for another peek. Yep, it was you.
- He pushes the door open and leans by the door frame, chuckling at the sight of you, lying down on the floor, "You've been here all day, haven't you?"
- He waits for a reply but nothing comes. His voice must not have been loud enough above the music you had playing, so he welcomes himself in and makes his way towards where you lay.
- "Yah," he towers next to your body, "you should go home and get some rest now. It's not healthy to work yourself this much."
- "Yah," he bent down, trying to get to you but nothing happens. The small smile on face disappears as he brushes away strands of your hair from your face, pale and drenched in sweat. His eyes grew in panic, reaching for your lifeless body. He grips hands onto your arms and brings you up from the floor, your head loosely hanging down as he tries to snap you up but it didn't help. Your body had failed to keep up with your efforts.
- A bright white light greets your eyes as you force them open, followed by the murmur of a couple of people wandering around the room. You shoot up from the bed, wide-eyed and confused about how you ended up here. Weren't you just at the--
- "Ah, you're up," an older man approaches you. The doctor?
- "What..happened?" you start.
- "You lost consciousness," he explains, "Your body was just too weak to handle all of the exercise you had been doing, especially since you had no food in your system. I hope this isn't a routine, otherwise it could cause you serious damage in the future."
- You sharply shook your head. It wasn't a routine. Not yet, anyway. You planned on skipping more meals to help shed off the weight but you guessed that after this incident, that wouldn't be working out for you.
- "Don't worry," he adds, "it shouldn't be a serious problem as long as you don't keep it up. If it's possible, try to rest tomorrow and skip any heavy exercise just so your body can rest a little. You should get something to eat now. Your friend should be back anytime."
- Friend? you pull your head back, confused, But I wasn't with anyone..
- You watch as the doctor walks away from the side of the bed, then suddenly smile, "Oh, here he is."
- Your eyes follow in the direction the doctor was facing and notice a tall, slim, brown-haired figure rushing through the room, dodging people on the way. In his hand was a white plastic bag. You're unable to identify his face until he was at the foot of your bed.
- You had never officially met the famous Oh Sehun. It was always just him passing by you in the halls of the SM building with his other group members, but boy did you admire him everytime he did. And now he was here, just a couple of feet away from you.
- He takes short breaths as he walks to your side, as if he had been running. He sets the bag down on the side table before locking his eyes on yours.
- "How are you feeling?" he pants and your heart races. A good minute passes before you could say something.
- "I-I'm a-alright," you stutter, then quickly shift your eyes away when you felt your face start to get warm. He doesn't seem to notice.
- "That's good," he reaches for the bag and reveals two bowls of convenience store instant noodles, "I wasn't sure how many to get. The doctor didn't specify, really.. And I was kind of in a rush so I hope this is alright."
- "Ah, it's fine! Really.." you thank him, "I'm sorry for causing you all the trouble."
- "It's no problem," he smiles and faces you, "I wouldn't want you to go and faint again."
- You turn red again, "T-Thank you.. for helping me."
- He opens his mouth to speak but stops himself when the doctor returns.
- "Alright, just remember to keep your body healthy so this doesn't happen again," he reminds, "But other than that, everything will be fine."
- You slip yourself out of the bed and both of you bow in thanks. You gathered your bags and headed out. You turn to Sehun to thank him once again but before you could even think of what words to say, he had gestured for you to follow him down the hallway to the right. He had already taken a few steps ahead of you before you could ask where he was going, but you didn't hesitate to follow. You found yourself in the cafeteria of the hospital. Not many people were around, but then again, it was starting to get really late.
- "What are we doing here?" you ask as he leads you to a table, helping you set your things down on the chair next to you.
- "We can't leave now, you haven't eaten yet!" he pulls out a bowl from the bag and tears open the plastic covering. He heads to a nearby water dispenser and returns with a hot bowl.
- "Gomawo.." you mumble and he slides the bowl towards you. You waited for the food to cook itself when you notice that he hasn't touched his bowl at all.
- "Why haven't you opened yours?" you look up at him.
- He shakes his head, "This bowl is yours, too. The doctor said you haven't eaten all day, right? You must be really hungry, especially after all that practice too."
- "No, no! One is enough for me," you point at the sealed bowl, "You should eat it. Weren't you practicing at the studio too?"
- "Yeah but I can manage, don't worry."
- "No," you push your bowl away and cross your arms, "I won't eat if you're not eating."
- "Yah, hurry up and eat already," he pushes it back to you, "don't be so stubborn."
- "Not until you do too."
- He sighs and rolls his eyes as he reached for the second bowl, and you smile. You waited for his to ready before digging in. Normally, you would be eating a lot faster and louder, especially with this much hunger waiting in your stomach. But this was Sehun you were eating with, and you didn't want to look like a pig.
- "What were you practicing for?" he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand after slurping on the soup, "It seemed pretty intense."
- "Oh, it wasn't for anything actually," you reply, "I just thought I'd get some more exercising done to get in shape."
- You begin to slurp on the soup, but when you saw the expression in his eyes change as you lifted the bowl to your mouth, you quickly put it down.
- "Is that why you skipped meals today?" he asks, and you respond with a slow guilty nod.
- "Yah," he stares into your eyes, "don't do that anymore, okay? Even if you think that will work, it's really bad for your body."
- Your eyes drag down and you sink into your chair, but he brings your attention back to him, "Will you be back at the studio tomorrow?"
- "The doctor told me to rest tomorrow, but maybe I will do some practice for a little bit so I don't miss anything," you answer, unsure of which he wanted to hear.
- "Let's go out for lunch tomorrow then," he grins, that adorable eye smile distracting you from your trail of thoughts. You give him an unsure expression, only making him giggle, "Think of it as my way of watching over you."
- His tone brightens up the atmosphere, and his smile brings one to your face as well.
- "Thank you," you nod again, smiling at him, then go back to the bowl of noodles waiting for you, just as he does.
- Maybe it won't be so difficult now that you had someone making sure you were doing well. As you spent the next hour with him, you made a new promise to yourself: not to make him worry. Your hard work wasn't just for yourself anymore, but you were going to do it for him too.
