  1. 1:49:44 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ...
  2. 1:53:44 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Well, it depends on the equipment." TJ doesn't want to disappoint the enigmatic Tinker, but he also doesn't know why those privileges were denied in the first place. Best to talk to the team leaders and some of the more veteran staff to see if they know why. On second thought, he could ask Gamma, but talking to them so far had been an exercise in futility.
  3. 1:53:44 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Were you not already cleared for it?" ||
  4. 1:54:29 PM <•Antioch|GM> "I wasn't sure, with the transfer. I'll email you the forms for my proposals in any case." ||
  5. 1:56:52 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "I think we should be able to get you working on something new, unless there's a reason not to." At least presenting it as likely will sound good to Gamma. Or maybe not. Who knew with them? ||
  6. 1:58:08 PM <•Antioch|GM> The suit nods, pneumatic pistons near the neck hissing slightly. ||
  7. 1:59:20 PM → Divock joined ([email protected])
  8. 1:59:33 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Do you have any more questions or topics of discussion you want to bring up?" If that was all Gamma wanted, maybe TJ could go talk to Callahan. ||
  9. 2:00:44 PM <•Antioch|GM> There's a lengthy pause, but just as Wolf thinks the conversation is over, the speaker of the voice synthesized crackles back to life.
  10. 2:01:02 PM <•Antioch|GM> "I'd like more opportunities to patrol with Eagle Eye," they say. ||
  11. 2:02:49 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "I'll bring that up with him. Are you thinking of joining his team?" Interest in something? TJ is surprised that they suggested that, after admitting they weren't really close to anyone. ||
  12. 2:04:35 PM <•Antioch|GM> "I think so, but I want to make sure." ||
  13. 2:05:45 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Great! Glad to hear it." TJ is relieved at Gamma acting more human. It was really unsettling, talking to the guy. Or girl. "So, is that all?" ||
  14. 2:07:41 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Yeah, that's it. Have a good day, Director." ||
  15. 2:09:03 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Thank you, Gamma. You have a good day too." TJ specifically uses their name, trying not to appear creeped out. He gets up, waves again, and exits, heading towards the deputy director's office. ||
  16. 2:11:39 PM <•Antioch|GM> Callahan's office is adjacent to Wolf's. She's currently working at the computer, setting aside a sheaf of paper and her mouse when he enters.
  17. 2:11:39 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Director," she says, standing. ||
  18. 2:13:15 PM → •Telloff (opped) and •JustLurking (opped) joined
  19. 2:13:38 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Oh, just TJ is fine. And you don't have to get up." TJ is impressed by her formality and presentation. "I was just coming by to check on the general situation. You're settling in well?" ||
  20. 2:13:54 PM Telloff → •Teller
  21. 2:14:08 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Well enough. There's enough on our plate that we have to hit the ground running." ||
  22. 2:17:14 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Anything I should know about right now? I'm going to get a briefing from Flaherty later, but if there's something pressing, I'd like to hear now rather than later." TJ desperately hopes that nothing is wrong, especially something that can't wait. While he talks, he looks the deputy director up and down, evaluating her posture, body language, and figure.
  23. 2:17:14 PM <•Nick|Wolf> Well, mostly her figure. ||
  24. 2:19:33 PM <•Antioch|GM> ((Investigation roll.))
  25. 2:20:17 PM <•Nick|Wolf> $roll 1d6-1
  26. 2:20:17 PM <•[ATM]> Nick|Wolf [2] -1 = 1
  27. 2:23:37 PM <•Antioch|GM> Wolf's lecherous eye pegs Callahan as 'past her prime', although the close-cropped hair and suit have their own charm. A five, maybe six out of ten. Could be more on a better day. ||
  28. 2:24:08 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((she doesn't respond to the question?))
  29. 2:24:56 PM <•Antioch|GM> ((Oh, whoops.))
  30. 2:24:58 PM <•Antioch|GM> -||
  31. 2:27:11 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Two things you'll be wanting to know. One, a Tinker dismantling computers on campus in his civilian identity. We've contacted all the witnesses thus far, it seems, offered them a small sum of money and informed them of the laws against revealing parahuman civilian identities. The damage is controlled, for the time being, and the cape is in our custody. A
  32. 2:27:11 PM <•Antioch|GM> recent trigger, I think."
  33. 2:29:36 PM <•Antioch|GM> "And a young child displaying parahuman abilities. Detaching her limbs, creating barriers of flesh. According to her caseworker, a Pearl Fleisher, twelve. The state of her guardianship is currently... in flux, so it seems. The Wards could be an option."
  34. 2:31:22 PM <•Antioch|GM> "More, of course, but Flaherty will brief you. Those are the most pressing -- and you might wish to speak the Tinker in custody, Wingnut brought him in slightly prior to the meeting." ||
  35. 2:33:30 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "I would like to speak to them. On campus you said? A college student?" ||
  36. 2:33:30 PM <•Antioch|GM> **Fleischer
  37. 2:34:24 PM <•Antioch|GM> "I believe so, yes. Randall Miller, WSU student, if I'm recalling correctly. He doesn't have a proper file yet, as this incident only just occurred." ||
  38. 2:36:32 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Sure, of course. I'll talk to him later, I suppose. What about the girl? She's not in custody? Is anyone out looking for her?" 12 years old, with powers. And /those/ powers... It couldn't be a happy story, and being alone, on the run, certainly wouldn't help. ||
  39. 2:39:03 PM → Jackknife joined ([email protected])
  40. 2:42:50 PM <•Antioch|GM> "She fled from the caseworker, apparently. For the time being, Auster and Wingnut are searching for her." ||
  41. 2:48:04 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Good. They'll be up to the task. Thanks for the info. Let me know if you want or need anything." Where was he going next? Not enough time had passed for Flaherty's summary to be ready. Maybe he'll get a tour of the facilities. From one of the local capes, if they're free. "Are any of the Protectorate members who have been here free right now? I haven't had
  42. 2:48:04 PM <•Nick|Wolf> a chance to look around yet. I'd like to be shown around all the facilities." ||
  43. 2:53:27 PM <•Antioch|GM> "None, I'm afraid. A lot on our plate from the get-go, as I said." ||
  44. 2:55:52 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Ah, alright. Can't be helped. I'll wander around by myself. Thank you, though. I appreciate it. I'll see you later." TJ leaves the office, and looks around the hall, trying to figure out what's where. ||
  45. 2:57:34 PM <•Antioch|GM> His office is near the other administrative offices – he sees where Flaherty and Shayne are situated, along with some other staff. Further down, he reaches a floor with a landing that overlooks the PRT's lobby, and the same floor holds many conference rooms. ||
  46. 3:00:06 PM <•Nick|Wolf> Conference rooms, fine. Not super interesting, but good to know how it connects from a different direction. TJ looks over the lobby, and heads down to the ground floor.
  47. 3:00:29 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((can we timeskip the exploring to get to the briefing session?))
  48. 3:01:48 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((or whatever interesting thing might interrupt it))
  49. 3:02:44 PM <•Antioch|GM> Wolf situates himself sufficiently with the building, learning the locations of the squad facilities, Protectorate and Wards facilities, gyms, cafeteria, and other minutiae. The building is big enough that a map wouldn't be amiss.
  50. 3:03:17 PM <•Antioch|GM> Eventually, he's finished, wanting to speak with Flaherty, who's waiting in his office.
  51. 3:03:46 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Director Wolf," he says, extending a handshake. "Do I have a lotta news for you." ||
  52. 3:05:39 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Oh no," TJ groans, mostly in jest. Mostly. "Thanks again for doing this. I really appreciate it." TJ 'really appreciates' a lot of people, but this time it isn't an exaggeration. "So what's going down in Wichita?" ||
  53. 3:07:26 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Tell me what you know, first, so I don't have to repeat anything you already know about," he replies, leaning back into his seat. ||
  54. 3:09:02 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Right, good idea. Callahan filled me in on the 12 year old girl and the computer killer. Seems like they're issues rather than threats. Potential assets, even. Both new triggers?" ||
  55. 3:11:51 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Probably. You *did* read up on the whole Fallen situation, right?" ||
  56. 3:13:54 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "I'm aware of their presence, and the thing with Kimaris leaving. Not sure about anything more recent than that." TJ hopes that's what he means. ||
  57. 3:16:07 PM <•Antioch|GM> "That's the crux of it, at least. We're expecting that to cause waves, and we may well already be seeing the first ripples."
  58. 3:19:10 PM <•Antioch|GM> "The Sons of Noise were attacked by an unknown cape. The highway where it occurred needs maintenance."
  59. 3:19:35 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Standard gang violence from the Wichita Brotherhood, an upsurge of activity from the Spoilers."
  60. 3:20:24 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Odyssey capes recalled back to Wichita, a bank robbery by the Marauders."
  61. 3:20:40 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Other major events that you'll need to know about." ||
  62. 3:22:34 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Wow. Callahan wasn't kidding. That is a lot of stuff. I assume we're responding to those things already?" ||
  63. 3:29:57 PM <•Antioch|GM> "For the Spoilers and Magpie, sure," he says. "The rest aren't clear-cut." ||
  64. 3:32:26 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Sure, sure. What do you know about the Fallen here? Where are they, what could we use to get them into a real fight?"
  65. 3:33:07 PM <•Nick|Wolf> TJ picks one problem as the most important, most pressing. Everyone hates the Fallen, and they deserve it. They are the worst group here, and the hardest to beat. ||
  66. 3:37:41 PM <•Antioch|GM> "I doubt you could provoke them to that degree. Any call-out will be played to their favor, they thrive off the negative press."
  67. 3:38:23 PM <•Antioch|GM> "With the change in leadership, they'll quieten down for a while, I suspect. But the other gangs may well pick up the pace, with the Fallen temporarily getting their bearings." ||
  68. 3:41:07 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "That's... infuriating. I suppose if they were easy to incite they wouldn't still be here. I suppose we should just be on the lookout, ready for any of the gangs to strike." TJ wants to make more happy, positive plans, but he supposes they'll have to wait. People won't be susceptible to that sort of thing in the current climate. If they know about it. ||
  69. 3:45:42 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Making sure the status quo doesn't break down is your first priority. Being proactive can wait until you have the resources to spare," Flaherty advises. ||
  70. 3:47:35 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "Right, makes sense. Anything else I should know, or should I get back to paperwork?" ||
  71. 3:55:11 PM <•Antioch|GM> "Shouldn't you be having a word with that fresh Tinker in your custody, or are you leaving that to someone else?" ||
  72. 3:56:42 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((Oh I thought that would be a separate session. Can I redact?))
  73. 4:02:22 PM ⇐ •JustLurking quit • Camtist|GM → Camtist
  74. 4:04:57 PM <•Antioch|GM> ((It is, but chronologically speaking it's a priority. When you go and speak to the tinker, we cut, resume when that session is scheduled.))
  75. 4:05:11 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((ah, OK))
  76. 4:05:18 PM <•Nick|Wolf> ((no redact))
  77. 4:06:54 PM <•Nick|Wolf> "I should do that, you're correct. Shouldn't leave him waiting in cuffs, or foam, or however they have him contained." TJ bids Flaherty farewell and heads to speak to the Tinker. ||
  78. 4:07:30 PM ↔ Sria popped in
  79. 4:14:44 PM <•Antioch|GM> Wolf makes his way not to one of the interrogation rooms, but the conference rooms. The Tinker, Randall Miller is there, two PRT agents accompanying him for the time being. He prepares himself, considering points to raise and questions to ask during the upcoming discussion. ||
  80. 4:16:15 PM <•Antioch|GM> ** waiting there.
  81. 4:16:25 PM <•Antioch|GM> ** prepares himself before he enters,
  82. 4:18:45 PM <•Nick|Wolf> Best case scenario, he joins the Protectorate. How could TJ convince him? Well, he was brought in for demolishing a computer. Maybe the resources and parts available to the Protectorate would be the key. Also, a university student probably needs money to pay their tuition. A Protectorate paycheck could be very attractive. TJ also wanted to know why he hadn't
  83. 4:18:45 PM <•Nick|Wolf> come to the PRT in the first place. It could give them ideas for improvement. ||
  84. 4:18:50 PM ⇐ Lexicon quit ([email protected]) Quit: Connection closed for inactivity
  85. 4:22:11 PM <•Antioch|GM> With these notes in mind, he steps into the conference room.
