- I was in my room, bored because with the quarantine I couldn’t go work, and videogames cannot keep me entertained forever. In front of my notebook PC I tried to find something to do. Then I hear a high pitched voice coming from the table to my right.
- “Um, s-sir…?”
- Surprised, I looked at the source and found a tiny guy, about 10 cm tall, standing on the table. He was naked, covering his groin with his hands. “This has to be a dream” I thought. I had dreams in which I had realized I was in a dream. I thought of waking myself up. Sometimes I would wake up in reality, sometimes I would “wake up” into another dream. Anyway, this seemed interesting, so I decided to not try to wake up.
- “S-sir, may I have some water?” the tiny guy spoke again.
- “Sure” It didn’t matter if this was a dream, playing along is more fun. I went to the kitchen and filled a glass with water. Then I realized it would be too big for him. I looked for something that he could drink from. I settled on a plastic bottle cap, it would be about the size of a bucket for him.
- “There you go.” I said, placing the cap on the table.
- He knelt in front of it and began drinking. He grabbed a droplet that looked like a balloon in his cupped hands and sucked it.
- “Thank you” he said after drinking a second droplet.
- “So… who are you?” I asked, taking a closer look. He looked like a young adult man, just tiny. He had ear length blond hair, a bit messy. His eyes seemed to be green, but it was hard to tell because they were so small.
- “I-I don’t really know.” he said, still covering his groin and ass with his hands.
- “What’s your name? Where did you come from?”
- “I don’t know?”
- “Hmmm, what were you doing before you came here?”
- “I, err, woke up here, I cannot remember anything before that.”
- “So, you woke up and asked me for water?”
- “Umm, no. Actually I woke up yesterday. I was scared of you, so I hid behind that thing” he pointed at the vice grips on the table.
- “You were hiding here all this time?”
- He looked down and didn’t answer.
- “It’s ok, you were sacred.” Still, I was quite freaked out at the idea of having someone in my room watching me for a day.
- “So, you got so thirsty you decided to take the risk of talking to me.”
- “S-sorry.”
- “Nevermind, I won’t hurt you. But I don’t know what to do with you.”
- He looked around, unease showing on his face. “I’ll leave if you take me outside.”
- “And then what? What will you eat? What will you drink? Where will you sleep?” I looked again at the vice grips.
- “You must have been cold, sleeping naked next to that.”
- “Yes…”
- “I could make you a little home. By the way, my name is Dave”
- I took an empty shoe box I had in my closet. “This should do.”
- I placed the box on the table and measured the guy with a ruler. “Please stand straight.” He did, noticeably embarrassed at his state of undress. He measured 8.4 cm tall. That means he is about 1/20th the height of a normal human. His volume would be 1/8000, so if an average human weighs around 70 kg, he probably weighs around 9 grams. If an average human needs 2 liters of water a day, he should need about ¼ of a milliliter. The water I gave him should last him for days.
- “You must also be hungry.”
- “Yes…”
- “Be right back.”
- Back in the kitchen I thought of what I could feed him. Of course it would be human food, but in very small proportions. Also it would need to be able to be eaten without any utensil. I placed small portions of bread and cream cheese on a teaspoon. I also took some tissues.
- “Here.” I placed the spoon that served as a plate in the far corner of the table, next to it I left the water cap and a tissue I cut into several pieces.
- While he went to eat I worked on the box. I cut a door on the side. A rectangle of 10 x 4 cm. I cut three of the sides, leaving the last one as a hinge. I bent it several times to make sure it moved correctly. I didn’t have a knob, but it wouldn’t matter much.
- I also added a window. I cut a sideways H of 6 x 8 cm that left me two flaps that I could hinge like the door.
- Inside I placed some of cotton as a bed and covered it with cloth scraps I had in a drawer. I used to make costumes for cosplay for myself, so I know how to sew and I have supplies. I thought of making clothing for this guy, but he is just so small. Dolls for children have clothes, but even those are larger than him. I doubt I can actually sew anything that would fit him.
- Next I placed some toilet paper in a corner of the box. But I changed my mind. He needs to relieve himself, but if he does it in there it will stink up the place.
- Before the invention of modern toilets people went to outhouses, that’s what I needed.
- I took a lightbulb box, cut a door on its side and glued it to the side of the shoe box. I placed the toilet paper in there and with that the little home was pretty much complete. It would satisfy his needs for now.
- He was done eating and was watching me from the corner of the table.
- “Come here, I want you to try the bed.”
- He came running and slipped under the bed sheets.
- “Thank you.”
- “Oh, it was nothing.”
- I gently moved the box-home to a smaller table in the corner of the room. There, in a more out of the way place I had my work table free to work on other things.
- This shoe box will do for now, but I want to build a better house for him. Because I can do it, and with the quarantine I have nothing better to do.
- “You ok in there?”
- “Yes” his muffled voice came out. “Thank you again.”
- “Tell me if you need something else.”
- “Well, could you... make me some clothes?”
- “Hmm, it would be hard with your size, and most fabrics would be too thick, so it would be hard for you to move in.”
- “Oh, nevermind then.”
- “Don’t worry, I’ll think of something.”
- I put some more food on the spoon and left it inside the box, along with more water and tissue paper. I also left a second cap with soapy water.
- “This one is for washing, make sure not to drink it.”
- “Ok, the red one is for washing.”
- He could wash his hands there, but he would need something larger for bathing. Later.
- By that time I was hungry myself, so I dined in the kitchen. I didn’t bring him, because I didn’t want to move his box, it was his house after all.
- Finally I went to bed.
- “Good night little guy.”
- “Good night.”
- “I’ll think of a name for you tomorrow.”
- “If you still exist” I thought, not knowing yet if this was a dream or not.
