- >Day Baking in Equestria.
- >Grabbing hold of the door knob with your magic, you turn it and push as you approach the front door.
- >Hope is not far behind you, carrying a couple of the bags filled with the groceries you two just bought.
- >”Mom, where should I put these?”
- >She steps past you as you make a brief stop in the living room to hide Anon's present, in case he comes home early.
- “Just put them in the kitchen honey, I'm going to use them right away.”
- >The little girl is already in the kitchen, but responds to you anyway.
- >”Okay!”
- >Letting off a light chuckle, you run a quick checklist in your mind to make sure you have everything you need for tonight.
- >Ingredients for cheesecake?
- >Check.
- >Ingredients for brownies?
- >Check
- >Ingredients for the stuffed mushrooms?
- >Cheeeeck.
- >Ingredients for the spaghetti?
- >Che-
- >...
- “Hope? Did we buy any angel hair pasta?”
- >”Uh huh, it's right here.”
- >Hope pokes her head through the doorway, waving the package of noodles at you.
- >Phew, check.
- >With everything ready, you head into the kitchen with the intent to make your husband's birthday spectacular.
- >Setting down your own bags of groceries, you root around them for the dessert ingredients.
- >”Mom?”
- >Taking your eyes off the bag, you continue to root through with your magic, having a good -feel- of what to pull out.
- “Yes sweetie?”
- >Hope looks over your shoulder, kicking at the ground a bit.
- “Can I help cook this time?”
- >This is odd, normally she just gives you a hug and heads upstairs to work on one of her puzzle books or fill her personal album.
- “Of course Hope, but why the sudden interest?”
- >Hope's face scrunches a bit.
- >”Manny said that there was this girl who hangs out with him and she made him a lunchbox. Afterwards, he said that he thought it was funny I couldn't cook at all!”
- >Giggling, you can't help but think how cute it is that these two can still maintain their friendship thousands of miles apart.
- “So you want to prove him wrong?”
- >”Uh huh! I can TOO cook! I just don't know how yet, but I can learn! Right?”
- >You nod, flashing the adorable little girl a smile.
- “Yes, and you can start by pulling out the pots and pans we'll need.”
- >Hope nods, heading over to the shelves and cupboards you keep the kitchenware in.
- >”Which ones do I need to grab?”
- >Turning your attention back to the bags, you take note you were able to get most of the ingredients out, but mistook several of them by their shape.
- >Poking your head into the bags, you look around to find the ingredients you mistook.
- “Well, we'll need the two big pots, two big bowls, the glass pan, the colander, and a metal tray.”
- >”Okay! ... Mom?”
- >Letting off a hum, you start to separate all the ingredients into what goes with what.
- >”What's a colander?”
- “It's like a pot, but with holes at the bottom.”
- >”Oh, okay.”
- >With everything separated, you attempt to remember all of the steps Bon bon showed you.
- >First y-
- >*CLANG*
- >You yelp as you take a small leap into the air.
- >Turning, you see Hope with ALL of the things you asked her to grab on the floor.
- >”Oops.”
- >Bringing a hoof to your face, you chuckle and levitate the metal accessories to the sink.
- “Why did you try to grab them all at once?”
- >”Because you asked me too.”
- >True.
- >You didn't tell her to grab them one at a time and this is her first time in the kitchen.
- “You're right. Well, I'm telling you now. Only grab as much as you can handle at once. Okay?”
- >”Okay mom.”
- >She steps next to you, smiling as you give each dish a quick rinse and wipe.
- >Placing them down on either a burner or the counter, you start to lift the several measuring cups, spatulas, and knives you will need.
- >”Ooooh, that looks soooo goooood!”
- >Hope's eyes are focused on the bowls you are whipping into fine smooth brownie and cheesecake mixes.
- >She is about to drool onto her shirt when you motion a paper towel to her lips.
- “They will be, WHEN they're finished.”
- >She lets out a little whimper as her lips clench.
- >If only she knew what you were planning to do.
- “Hope, can you check on the noodles and stir the sauce?”
- >She lets out an -uh huh-, but doesn't move.
- “... Now?”
- >She snaps out of her trance and runs to the pots.
- >Stirring the sauce, she then grabs the spoon and switches it to the noodles.
- >If it were anything else, you might have yelped and accidentally yelled at her to stop.
- >But the noodles will be drained soon anyway.
- >”Mom? How do you know when the noodles are done?”
- “Pull a couple of strands close to the pot and see how easy they cut. If they cut like when you eat them, they are done.”
- >You hear the tell tell sound of water hitting the burner as your baby girl utters a small -oops-.
- >After a couple more hisses, you can't help but remember the first time you tried cooking.
- >Ooh, you had never been so ashamed of yourself.
- >Burnt the metal on three NEW pans and set off the fire alarm the entire time.
- >You were lucky Bon bon offered to help you learn after that or... well...
- >No, Anon still would have loved you even if you couldn't cook.
- >You learned for him after all.
- >The guilt of always having him cook for you when you started dating...
- >Sighing wistfully , you don't notice Hope calling for you.
- >It takes her poke to pull you from your day dream.
- “H-Huh?”
- >”I said the noodles are done. I turned off the stove! That's all there is, right?”
- >Shaking your head, you walk over to the pot and levitate it to the sink.
- “No, now we empty the noodles into the colander and give them a quick rinse to cool down.”
- >Hope lets off an -oh- as she watches you force the floating metal case over, pouring the pasta down into the colander.
- >After a quick rinse, you turn your attention back to the stuffed mushrooms.
- >”What now mom?”
- “Is the pasta boiling?”
- >Hope looks over, nodding.
- >”Uh huh. What about the cheesecake?”
- >Smirking, you close your eyes and finish with the mushrooms.
- “Oh, it's almost done. Just need to pour it into the pan and clean the bowls.”
- >Her tone turns to one of disappointment.
- >”Clean them?”
- >You nod and place a single pan in front of the two mixed batters.
- “Clean them. Oh, turn off the sauce?”
- >Hope drags her feet to the stove, turning off the sauce before returning to your side.
- >”Can't we eat the leftovers?”
- >Not answering, you pour the brownie mix first, then the cheesecake.
- >Leaving the two spatulas in the bowls, you place the pan in the already heated oven and walk to the dining table.
- “Well, we have to clean them, don't we?”
- >Levitating the two bowls in front of you, you grab one of the spatulas and lick the end.
- “Mmmm, aren't you going to help?”
- >Hope squeals and runs to the free bowl, grabbing the spatula.
- >”I thought you said clean?”
- >She takes a big helping of leftover batter and licks it, leaving a small spot on her nose.
- “This is how I clean the leftover batter.”
- >And now that the secret's out, you'll have to share the batter whenever Hope is home.
- >Oh well, you don't mind.
- >As your daughter continues to munch on the raw baked good, she abruptly stops.
- >”Mom?”
- >Humming, you bring another spatula full of brownie to your lips.
- >”Where'd you learn to bake?”
- >swallowing the chocolatey batter, you look to Hope and smile.
- ”From your aunt Bon bon.”
- >”Why?”
- “So I could bake sweets for your dad.”
- >She furrows her brow, looking confused.
- >”So you learned because of dad?”
- >You nod and lick the tip of the spatula.
- >If Bon bon were here... hee hee, she never did think raw batter was good.
- >”Mom... why do girls do things for boys?”
- >This was a strange question.
- “Most of the time because they like them.”
- >She lets of a confused hum.
- >”So the girl who made Manny a lunchbox could like him?”
- “Mhmm.”
- >”Huh. You liked dad before you two got married, right?”
- >You give her another nod.
- >She sure is curious today.
- >”... Mom?”
- “Yes dear?”
- >”How was I born?”
- >... Uh oh.
- >You and Anon had decided not to tell her about the birds and the bees until you BOTH agreed she was ready.
- >This might get tricky.
- “What do you mean?”
- >”I mean how was I born? ... Where do babies come from? Dad always said he'll tell me when I'm older, but I'm older now, right?”
- >S-She makes a good point.
- >She is getting closer and closer to that age...
- >Your husband and you can't keep hiding the truth forever.
- >... But today you can.
- “You are older Hope, so I will tell you a LITTLE about it, okay?”
- >She nods, a glimmer in her eye as she keeps eating her little snack.
- “Well... when two po- beings... care for each other, they get together and show that care. If they show it right, then the girl gets pregnant. When she is pregnant, a baby is growing in her belly.”
- >Hope's brows furrow again, for a whole different kind of confusion.
- >”... How does the baby get out?”
- “Well... they go to a hospital and they take the baby out.”
- >”So babies come from a pregnant woman going to the hospital?”
- “Yes! He-hehe, yes.”
- >She smiles, a look of accomplishment on her face.
- >”Okay. So you and dad showed your care and then you got pregnant. Thanks mom!”
- >Her smile looks so sincere...
- “J-Just don't tell anyone about this. We don't want kids getting pregnant too, okay?”
- >”Why?”
- “Well, you have to go to school first, right?”
- >She nods.
- “And you can't go to school if you have a baby. You have to look after the baby, it's why mommy doesn't work anymore.”
- >Her eyes go wide and she mouths out another -ohh-
- >”Okay, I won't tell any of my friends! Mom?”
- >Letting off a sigh, you look to your daughter and smile.
- “Yes Hope?”
- >”I promise not to get pregnant while in school!”
- >You nearly choke on the brownie mix as you try to rationalize what she just said.
- >Oh sweet honey iced tea!
- >She's just a girl, just a little girl who doesn't know where babies really come from.
- “T-Thank you Hope.”
- >Before she can speak, a *ding* goes off.
- “Cake's done!”
- >You stand and go to retrieve the finished baked good, going to replace it's spot with the raw mushrooms.
- >”O-Okay.”
- >Hope follows you, head filled with half truths that will hopefully satisfy her curiosity for now.
- >”Pffft, s-she really said that?”
- >Nodding into your husband's full belly, you sigh.
- “You have no idea how hard it was trying to get her off that subject.”
- >He strokes down your mane, sighing as he shakes his head.
- >”Well, you didn't lie to her. I'm sure she'll understand why we tell her what we tell her when she's older.”
- >Sighing, you curl up against him.
- >He grabs his gift with his free hand and lets out a blissful sigh.
- >”Such a beautiful little thing... You said Hope chose it?”
- >You nod again, lifting your head against his chest.
- “She thought you might like it.”
- >”I love it.”
- >Setting the silver frame adorned with small flower shaped gems, the picture of you and your family inside it shimmers from the light refracting off it juuust right.
- >It really is a beautiful thing.
- >All chosen by a girl with innocent thoughts in her head.
- >Heh, showing your care to make a baby.
- >The two of you know how much you showed your care that night.
- >A little roleplaying; you still managing to fit in your old senior Caval Rhy uniform...
- >Showing it doggy style, cowgirl...
- >H-His hands beating your ass as he nipped your neck lovingly.
- >Making you feel like you were just a filly again.
- >Oh Celestia, the way he had you balance yourself as he-
- >”Lyra?!”
- >Dragged once again from your daydreams, you look to your husband.
- “Y-Yes?”
- >”I-Is it that time of the month again? Your juices are spilling onto the bedsheets."
- >Looking down, you notice your marehood is leaking love juice.
- >Blushing, you look away a bit miffed.
- ”N-No, it's not- I'm not entering estrus! Can't a mare get exciting for her husband without going into heat?”
- >He holds his hands around you, hugging you as he kisses your head.
- >”I'm sorry. It's just, it's nearly that time of the month, isn't it?”
- >Recalling what day it is, you notice he is right.
- >Turning to face Anon, you smile a bit.
- “Y-You remembered?”
- >He smiles back, nodding.
- >”Yeah, the way Celestia balanced pony hormones, it works a lot like a cycle human women go through. Men kinda benefited from knowing their cycle and it kind of... passed on here, I guess.”
- >Snuggling up to your husband, you coo and let him stroke your mane lovingly.
- “Well, I may not be in heat, but we can still act a bit... naughty~. If you want, I mean, it is your birthday after all~”
- >He chuckles, spanking your bottom.
- >”What if Hope's up?”
- >Humming to yourself, you kiss him on the lips and whisper into his ear.
- “Then we'll just have to play the quiet game, won't we?”
- >He hums a bit, his arousal clear as day.
- >As he reaches into the cupboard for a rubber, you go to fetch a little something from the closet.
- >Locking the door, you plan on giving your husband a very special birthday gift.
