Are You Kidding?

Riding home on my train from work, I overheard one of the stupidest things come out of someone's mouth:

"But no matter how much surgery [transgender individuals] go through it'll never change how they were born. It's like someone born Catholic trying to be Jewish."

I can't even confront that level of stupidity. Juxtaposing genetics and gender identity with the social construct of religion.

I was stunned speechless. I don't even want to waste my breath on that woman.
