- Lone Alfyn Route Notes
- Last Updated: Sep. 27, 2022
- Contact: AnimeGamer#1297 on Discord if you'd like to reach me
- Status: Complete with sample video.
- Sample Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubXEloV2VqE&feature=youtu.be (4th Miguel script is used in this one)
- This is a solo speedrun route for Alfyn aiming to complete his C1-C4 stories as fast as reasonably possible. It tries to defeat Miguel at level 20 typically and Ogre Eagle at level 21, which usually both take a few attempts. The biggest timesink is needing to gather Concoct ingredients by himself.
- I cannot guarantee that the locations and methods I routed in for the Concoct ingredients are optimal either - there's simply too many possible monster sources (and even in the same map, monsters get stronger with each completed chapter), so it's unreasonable to measure and compare the time for them all. But the locations and methods I have listed below have all been rigorously tested and should be reasonably fast and consistent at least. (This was by far the hardest solo for me to route due to Concoct and Miguel.)
- Note1: Setup Buffer glitch beforehand if you need! (If you can't buffer glitch, you'll be short about 30k and can make it up by visiting other locations like Wipsermill's Cat's Eye and Archmagus Shrine's 20k, and you'll need to use Imperial Lance over Master Spear, which may mean taking slightly more resets versus Miguel.)
- Note2: The route assumes a Cait by the time you reach the Scholar shrine. I counted about 12 encounters in an average trek there, so it should be 1 - (0.97^12) = 31% chance to get a Cait approximately. The Ruinous Seed + Noxroot has a decent chance of defeating it too. There is a non-Cait section at the end of this guide denoting changes, but I haven't tested it myself (should work fine though).
- Notation:
- TP = Teleport
- C = Chapter
- x2,x3,x4 = boost with 1 BP, 2 BP, or the max 3 BP respectively. x1 is not used but would be 0 BP and a normal move.
- S+Q = Save and Quit and reenter the game to reset/reload the encounter rate
- Reload/Reset = usually exit and reenter a screen to reset the encounter rate
- Buffer Glitch = use the Buffer Glitch to gain access to an item or area - see https://youtu.be/0XlAM3mTu0Q [NS/PC only, not XB]
- Settings/Technical Things (recommended, but you can play how you want):
- - Japanese Audio
- - Message Speed Quick
- - Revert to Original (Battle Cursor Position)
- - Preload Before a Run (Start a new game with any character and exit to the menu, since the first load is slowest)
- - Note that loading games directly from console is usually faster than loading from an SD/memory card
- - Always Hold B to Skip Cutscenes, unless the textbox/scene is so short that it's faster to mash (Ex: usually 1-2 textbox scenes)
- ########################
- ########################
- (Note: Non-Cait differences are at the very bottom of the route, but below is the Cait route.)
- Do Alfyn 1 (Inquire Lily, skip all cutscenes)
- Buy: (the ingredients are 11x of the last 3 in the shop btw)
- - Arcane Hatchet (and equip)
- - 11 Injurious Seed
- - 11 Noxroot
- - 11 Essence of Grape
- In C1 dungeon, get Ruinous Seed to left in cave
- Blotted Viper: (This fight is from Enk's "Alfyn Single Story 3 Character Route" route - credit to them.)
- Break 1 (The fight is made of 3 break sets, adjust as needed if you desire.)
- T1: Axe
- T2: Soothing Seed + Noxroot
- T3: BPx3 Icicle
- T4: Axe
- T5: Axe / Defend (if going first)
- T6: BPx4 Icicle / Axe
- (BPx4 Icicle)
- T7: Break 2
- T8: Axe
- T9: Soothing Seed + Noxroot / Axe
- T10: Axe / Soothing Seed + Noxroot
- T11: Axe
- T12: Axe / Defend (if going first)
- T13: BPx4 Icicle / Axe
- (BPx4 Icicle)
- T14: Break 3
- T15: Axe
- T16: Axe
- T17: BPx2 Axe
- T18: BPx4 Icicle
- Finish C1
- Inquire Elderly Lady in top left of Graveyard,
- Get Essence of Plum that spawned in top right
- Inquire Zeph to the left in front of his house,
- Get Sleepweed that spawned to left
- Inquire Angler a bit below that,
- Get Essence of Pom that spawned in top right next to item shop
- NONCAIT VERSION DIFFERENCES HERE (further writeup at very bottom of the notes as well as a newer method that uses Path of Beasts): Go to Quarrycrest's Derelict Mines, get Wind L, go to Wellspring and throw Wind L at encounter and Save outside Wellspring, then tag Wellspring and get Fire L in the south, then TP Clearbrook, tag Bolderfall, go to Scholar Shrine, and throw Fire L at the Scholar Shrine encounter, which guarantees enough JP for EM. Later on, when you go to Grandport coast, get Wind L and go back and go forward, then later loot Loch, get Pom L, exit and reenter, and get Wind L + 30k. You may need to grind extra in Tomb of Kings as well a bit too (Last Stand for damage/HHM to break Sentinels/spare Stones/etc).
- Exit Clearbrook and go toward Bolderfall
- (If you want, you can opt to stop in Quarrycrest for Wind M instead of using Concocts to beat a Cait and can TP there later.)
- KO Cait on way to Bolderfall/Scholar Shrine
- T1: Ruinous Seed + Noxroot
- T2: Injurious Seed + Noxroot (if needed, reset if it flees)
- [If you didn't want to do Concoct strats vs Cait, you can opt to get Wind M/L by tagging Quarrycrest/getting it in Derelict and walking in and out of it to continue toward Bolderfall.]
- Tag Bolderfall
- Walk into Scholar shrine (flee if you get encounter, small chance of avoiding it if you walk)
- Learn any 2 skills (fastest are Lightning Bolt + Analyze)
- Put on Evasive Manuevers
- Tag Noblecourt
- Get Light M
- Go to Forest of Purgation
- Get Tempest Amulet + Light L
- Exit and reenter to get 20k chest
- TP Clearbrook
- Go to Derelict and get Wind L
- (If you get encounter, use Light L and watch for 35% Sleepweed drop from the 2421 HP Armor Eater, though avoiding it is ideal.)
- Get Thief shrine, exit
- Go toward Orewell (save on way there, Flee encounter if you get it)
- Tag Orewell, exit
- Go to Dragonsong Fane (save on way there, small encounter chance again)
- Get Crystal Helm + Pom L
- Exit and get Pom L in top right past NPC
- TP Noblecourt
- Go toward Rippletide area
- Once you get past Atlasdam and are about to enter North Rippletide Coast:
- Equip + Optimize
- Job Apothecary + Last Stand
- Job Thief
- Evasive Maneuvers OFF
- Heal SP if needed.
- Note: The next two Rippletide maps have the same rate of Sea Birdian II and Hermit Conch, totaling 45%, and both have Sleepweed steals/drops we want to farm (30% droprate). Force an extra encounter just before exiting the first Rippletide map and then in the second map, do not enter North Cobbleston Gap until you are at 5 Sleepweeds total (you have 1 from Zeph inquire already).
- Sea Birdian II
- T1: Fire x2
- T2: Steal (86%)
- T3: Axe to KO if Steal worked, otherwise repeat Steals/Boosted Steals before defeating
- (if he poisons, you can Concoct Seed + Nox to heal if needed)
- Hermit Conch
- T1: Icicle x2
- T2: Steal (70%)
- T3: Icicle x2 to KO if Steal worked, otherwise repeat Steals/Boosted Steals before defeating
- (may be range if it does Hide in Shell, but you can Axe to KO afterward)
- Cait - Light M if you have it, then Light L, and then last Wind L/Concoct last with ruinous seed + noxroot or injurious seed + noxroot
- Others - Flee
- North Rippletide Coast:
- - Get first red chest (Fortifying Nut)
- - Farm an extra encounter before entering East Rippletide Coast
- - You should get 3 encounters from this map at least before leaving.
- East Rippletide Coast
- - Get Inspiriting Plum if you're running low for some reason (right side of beach)
- - Farm until 5 total Sleepweed
- - EVASIVE MANUEVERS BACK ON and go toward Stonegard area if done
- Get 1200
- Get Light M in Stonegard area before resetting encounters downward and coming back up
- Tag Stonegard
- Go to West Everhold Pass
- Go straight down and smidge left to get Silver-Filled Pouch, save just past the bridge, taking minimal steps
- Enter Everhold Tunnels
- Get Pom L
- Boss reset + get 35k + Boss reset + get Death Cleaver
- TP Stonegard
- Tag Wellspring
- Go to Marsalim area
- Get Thunder L
- Enter Marsalim Catacombs
- Get Rev Jam
- Buffer to get Master's Spear
- Exit
- Tag Marsalim
- Buy to have total of
- - 11 Plum (2,640 spent)
- - 12 Purifying Seeds (~30k spent)
- Get 3 palace chests (High House Armor, 25k, Enchanted Circlet)
- Equip + Optimize + Tempest
- TP Bolderfall, exit and go north
- Evasive Maneuvers OFF before entering West S'waarkii Trail
- Note: West S'warkii Trail has 55% chance of Marmot/Mossy Meep, who both have Steals/Drops of Essence of Pomegranate. We want to farm 12 total at least before exiting, though extra is nice. Stay near the exit going into East Victors Hollow so you're ready to leave anytime.
- Heal SP as needed.
- Mossy Meep:
- T1: Axe (Death Cleaver may KO if high range but uncommon. Poison also may proc but should be okay since it heals itself too.)
- T2: Steal x3
- T3: Axe
- (If you got an extra Cait, you will be level 17 and should instead Dagger, Fire x3, Steal repeatedly until you get it, Axe as normal Axe can KO, while extra Sword damage pushes it to heal more often it seems)
- Marmot: (repeat twice if its a double enemy encounter)
- T1: Axe
- T2: Steal x3
- T3: Axe
- Cait - M Stone/L Stone/Axe x2/Concoct with Ruinous/Injurious + Noxroot just as before, conserving Wind L if possible (but if you have nothing else, throw it here, as its more valuable to guarantee a Cait than the other random encounters we get in this route). Axe x2 needs just one to hit and KO Cait but misses a lot too.
- Others (just Ratkins) - Axe x2 (Flee is better for less animation but level 14 fails a lot of Flees from my tests)
- Grind near the entrance to East Victors Hollow Trail until you have 12 Essence of Pom before exiting to there
- Evasive Maneuvers ON
- Go right to Western Stillsnow Wilds (avoid encounter but Thunder L KOs all if you do get it, other L KOs all except bear, but conserve Wind L if possible though)
- Enter Maw of the Ice Dragon
- Buffer Glitch to get Forbidden Dagger past the boss reset point + Boss Reset to reset encounters
- Get Shadow L + 30k
- TP Stonegard
- HEAL HP + SP
- Go to Tomb of Kings (remove Evasive Maneuvers just before entering)
- Grind 3 encounters while grabbing Fire L and exiting (just up the stairs to left of broken staircase)
- If you are doing Non-Cait, you will likely need to grind extra, and I recommend Safety Saving.
- Sentinels: Last Stand -> Last Stand x3
- Sentinels/Remnant + Guardians/: Thunder L if it's Wind enemies, Shadow L if it's Light enemies
- Thief II (4 shield Thiefs): Light M
- Thief I (3 shield Thiefs): Any L (Use Light L, Fire L, Shadow L, Thunder L, Wind L in that order) or Light M -> Last Stand x3
- Light M -> Last Stand x3 works for almost all the encounters if you run out of stones somehow (Need to do extra for Remnants)
- Caits: Any L (same Thief I stone order, M works too to KO Caits ta least)
- Heal HP after every battle with First Aid.
- Evasive Maneuvers ON before exiting (You should have reached level 15-16 from this as we have a level 15 inquire coming up.)
- Go to Everhold area
- Get Light L
- Enter Runeblade shrine
- S+Q on right side of Save Point
- Get 50k + Rev Jam
- TP Stonegard
- Head to Moonstruck Coast (If Shaggy Aurochs bull and Dread Falcon encounter, Axe x2 on Auroch to break then stone M to KO with DC axe)
- (If you do, watch for Essence of Pom drop)
- Get Merchant shrine (Optional: Save on the way inside)
- If pirate encounter, Light/Fire/Shad/Thund L in that order OR Light M -> Last Stand x3 (latter is risk of wipe though)
- Tag Goldshore, start C2, and exit the town
- Inquire Knowledgeable Traveler for "A Safe Route"
- Enter West Grandport Coast
- (If you have 0 Wind L's, get Wind L and exit and reenter)
- Get 20k and S+Q/Flee
- (Optionally get Thunder L if you are completely out of Stone L, may help vs Miguel/Ogre though we are likely to have spares)
- Tag Grandport
- Go to Loch
- Get Pom L in top left then go rightward + get 30k (OR get Pom L, exit, reenter and get Wind L + 30k)
- TP Goldshore, enter house next to item shop, skip 2 cutscenes
- Head to back of Goldshore, skip 2 cutscenes, go down to beach
- Go back up to Manor District, go to top right, skip 4 cutscenes
- Go back up to Manor District again
- Go to bottom left Weapon shop and buy
- - Protective Ring for 3k (+20 Def, +20 EDef)
- Complete "A Safe Route" quest (11k + Slippery Nut + Light Nut)
- Get 4.5k just to the left of that.
- Go up and inquire Aristocrat
- TP Orewell
- Tag Riverford
- Buy (while in shop, check Alfyn's SP value, need 66 SP for upcoming section)
- - 10 Ruinous Seeds
- - Optional Safety Strat (makes Miguel safer): Purchase and Equip Platinum Armor - if you do this, sell High House Armor later, and you'll have one less Vets on Ogre Eagle usually, so you need to rely a bit more on Defense Down procs, which is likely to happen (the battle has excess money routed in already).
- Exit town when done
- Get Wind L
- Enter Refuge Ruins
- Job Apothecary + Empoison
- Job Merchant + Sidestep + Hired Help
- Endless Items On
- Heal SP if needed (66 minimum), HP doesn't matter
- "I am ready" to boss prompt
- Gigantes
- The fight is free, but you want to be sure to Collect him. This is an example script, but depending on turn order, you may be behind on one poison tick of damage or not, usually finishing on T8. Adjust as needed and make sure to do a boosted Collect before he's defeated. Reload autosave if you mess up the Collect as this boss is worth 50k+ in total.
- T1: Sidestep
- T2: Sidestep
- T3: Sidestep x4
- T4: Empoison
- T5: Empoison
- T6: Empoison
- T7: Collect x4
- T8: Sidestep
- T9: Empoison
- (You should usually finish on T8 and should usually hit level 18 from this battle, if not high level 17 at least.)
- Get Enchanted Rod + Force Shield
- TP Wellspring
- Equip + Optimize, exit and go to Dancer shrine
- Force encounter before Dancer shrine: Wind L (even caught by surprise going last should be safe)
- First Aid to full HP
- Get Dancer shrine, exit
- In the same map, go toward Quicksand Caves (right, up, right, down)
- Get Pom M + Imperial Lance
- Force encounter again: Wind L
- (Watch experience - we want at least level 18 with 370 experience before fighting Vanessa)
- Enter Quicksand Caves
- Get Protective Bracelet (straight rightward past 3 torches, go up toward 4th torch and up-left, then top left of map)
- TP Goldshore, inquire Coachman just left of tavern
- (If you aren't at level 18 with 370 exp at least and are low on M/L stones, Grab Thunder M behind him to help KO enemies in C2 area or near Saintsbridge later.)
- Head straight eastward to Caves of Azure
- (Force encounters to get level 18 with 370 exp/270 JP (770 JP if no Hale and Hearty yet) JP if needed; L stone -> Last Stand KOs anything, can swap and use M instead for most too.)
- Equip + Optimize + Protective Bracelet + Protective Ring + Crystal Helm over Enchanted Circlet
- Learn Rehabilitate (you should have Rehabilitate, Empoison, and Last Stand now)
- Hale and Hearty on (Evasive Maneuvers, Endless Items, Hale and Hearty should be on)
- Use ALL nuts.
- Heal HP.
- Vanessa (and 2 Adds) (This KOs by over 500 with extremely low end estimates, so this should be totally safe, even if you're poisoned.)
- T1: Pom M
- T2: Vets x4
- T3: Ruinous Seed + Noxroot
- T4: Injurious Seed + Noxroot
- T5: Vets x4
- (Watch JP at end of battle - we want 630 JP.)
- Head to Helen's abode to finish cutscenes for C2
- Inquire entrance guy + get Thunder L (skip if EI proc'd for it earlier and you still have it.)
- TP Stonegard, go to right map
- Buy and Equip Soldier's Longbow
- TP Noblecourt
- Inquire + get Curious Antique from the Merchant in the square
- Exit and go straight left ish.
- (If you're short JP to get 630 before C3, force either or both the encounters on way to Hollow Throne and Saintsbridge coming up.)
- Enter Hollow Throne and get Pom L + Rev Jam on left side
- TP Clearbrook
- (Optional: Force encounter(s) if needed for 630, and watch for Concoct drops if so)
- Tag Saintsbridge and do Alfyn 3
- Go to Tavern in north map
- After tavern cutscene, TP Grandport + get Silver-filled pouch, 25k, Dazzling Artwork in the back areas
- TP Saintsbridge and inquire Old Lady in front ish house
- Go to north map and Inquire other Old Lady south of tavern.
- Go back a map to check on Miguel in shack.
- Do cutscenes and go west to fight Miguel. Stop at Save Point.
- Job Dancer + 3 skills to learn Eye for an Eye
- Job Merchant
- Put Eye for an Eye on
- (should have Evasive Manuevers, Endless Items, Hale and Hearty, and Eye for an Eye)
- Equips:
- - Optimize
- - Crystal Helm on
- - Protective Bracelet + Ring, if you haven't already
- Heal HP
- Save before Miguel
- (You should have L20+ for this fight.)
- Miguel (56,808 HP)
- Shields shift and change Weakness Sets (WS) after break:
- WS1: Sword, Bow, Wind, Light
- WS2: Spear, Dagger, Fire, Light
- WS3: Axe, Staff, Ice, Thunder
- WS4: Sword, Axe, Fire, Thunder
- This is a complicated fight with multiple scripts that branch and can be ranges depending on poison or Eye for an Eye, and it will likely require multiple tries before getting through one of the scripts. It can use as little as just 60k or 90k and may or may not use the Thunder L you got in Goldshore too. Script 1 is the standard one for double defense down procs while Script 2 is the standard one for single defense down. Scripts 3+4 are if you get above average procs of Eye for an Eye, where Miguel breaks himself more often. You should adjust your turns/attacks based on EfaE procs to maximize damage while trying to stay reasonably safe.
- First off, we want at least one proc of Defense down from T1-2. If you don't get any, it's possible to do Miguel without any procs but will usually be much riskier and not worth trying with its extremely low win rate, so just let him KO you and retry quickly.
- If you get BOTH defense down procs (25% chance), you can usually save 1 Vets worth by using the Thunder L on the last turn, though it requires ~1039 in extra damage from poison (569 per tick) or Eye for an Eye damage (Spear does about 300 while Axe does about 400 on the lower ranges). This is extremely likely and to fight him optimally, you should keep track of the damage. Saving 30k means extra damage to speed up Ogre Eagle. (There's even a chance of saving the Thunder L Stone too depending on just how many procs of Poison/Eye for an Eye you get.)
- Note1: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape's "4T Defense Down" proc is 50%. Most/all the other Concocts should be the same % chance too, including poison from the Noxroot Concocts we use.
- Note2: Surviving to T3 is not guaranteed as its a range to KO you. I've even had a fight where I survived with 3 HP.
- Note3: Double Defense Down script has a much higher chance of victory, as the Single Defense Down script depends on turn order for T9. If Miguel goes too many times before you or has not proc'd blind/misses, it may be unwinnable if turn order is bad. Just retry if so.
- Script 1 - This is a rare script to get and assumes double defense down proc'ing on T1-2 (25% of both - you'll see 7T of Defense down icon at the end of your T2):
- T1: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T2: (If you go last on this turn after both Miguel's actions, tab to Bow) Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T3: (Tab to Spear) Vets x4
- T4: Rev Jam
- T5: HH Dancers x4
- T6: Ruinous Seed + Noxroot (or Fire L/Light L/Spear if he's at 1 shield)
- T7: (Tab to Axe + hope he broke himself with 2 efae procs) Vets x4
- T8: Vets x 1 / Thunder L Stone if you got 1039 in poison or eye for an eye damage up to this point (extremely likely)
- (Note on T6: If he only has 1 shield though and is poisoned already for > 3T, Spear x1 does more damage and is better than Ruinous Seed + Noxroot)
- (Note on T6 again: If he did his last action of the turn before you and did not Hurl Spear just before your T6 action [it usually happens but sometimes does not], you can Sidestep or adjust depending on your turn order before breaking if needed and delay the T7 Vets x4 a turn. This can be done to increase survival chance.)
- If he broke himself before your T6, then you don't need to do Ruinous Seed + Noxroot and can spent the turn using Thunder L instead and then T7 Vets x4 to finish, which is the fastest possible turn order and safest as he doesn't retaliate from returning from break.
- Notes on damage values:
- Vets x4 on 1 sword shield left does about 4200 + 6700 x 3 (if you tabbed to Bow and he broke himself before this, the L Stone on T8 is guaranteed to KO him).
- Dancers x4 does about 290 x 4
- Vets x4 does about 6700 x 4
- That's
- (4200 + 6700 x 3) + (290 x 4) + (6700 x 4) = 52,260 damage done
- His HP is 56,808 so
- 56,808 - 52,260 = 4548 damage before final turn
- 4548 - 3509 thrown on last turn = 1039 damage needed
- This is why switching the Vets x 1 on the last turn to a weakness L Stone works if you did ~1039 extra damage in passing. Bear in mind this is an approximation based on Vets range but is estimated generously and assumes Vets does the lower range of damage.
- Script 2 - This assumes a single defense down proc'ing on either T1-2 (either one lasts long enough for the first Vets at least):
- T1: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T2: (If you go last on this turn after both Miguel's actions, tab to Bow) Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T3: (Tab to Spear) Vets x4
- T4: Rev Jam
- T5: HH Dancers x4
- T6: Ruinous Seed + Noxroot (or Fire L/Light L/Spear if he's at 1 shield)
- T7: (Tab to Axe) if he's broken, Vets x4 (if he's not broken, you can try Ruinous Seed Nox again to break then Vets)
- T8: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Plum/Sleepweed (use Plum first, then Sleepweed if you run out)
- T9: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Plum/Sleepweed (use Plum first, then Sleepweed if you run out)
- (T9's Concoct should have broken if you got at least 1 proc of Eye for an Eye, which is highly likely.)
- T10: Vets x3
- Script 3 - Single Defense Down Procs script (Another script if you went first on T3 before taking too much damage [have >950 HP]):
- This is an alternate script that Rev Jams after the break and hopes for more Eye for an Eye procs, using the extra HP from going first on T3 (which means you took much less damage) to tank and delay Rev Jam while doing extra Vets damage. It also assumes at least 3 Eye for an Eye procs before T7.
- T1: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T2: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T3: (Tab to Spear) Vets x4 (This is assuming you went first on T3 and before Miguel did any damage on T3)
- T4: Vets x 1
- T5: (hopefully you survived) Rev Jam
- T6: HH Dancers x 4
- EDIT: This may be a typo and you may need to do Ruinous Seed + Noxroot hoping to break and delay T7 but unable to test and edit at the moment.
- T7: (Tab to Axe) Vets x3
- T8: Thunder L
- 4300 + 6600 x 3 + 9999 + 4 x 290 + 5200 x 3 = 50859
- With 3509 weakness stone and procs of poison/eye for an eye, it can cover the range.
- Script 4 - This is the same as Script 2 assuming a single defense down proc'ing on either T1-2 (either one lasts long enough for the first Vets at least) but also assumes Miguel breaks himself twice. These breaks are enough opportunity to usually KO him with the spare damage and not need to break him a third time, instead opting to do a final burst of damage to defeat him:
- T1: Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- T2: (If you go last on this turn after both Miguel's turns, tab to Bow) Ruinous Seed + Essence of Grape
- If Miguel breaks himself and you can do Vets x4 at full power, then continue
- T3: (Tab to Spear) Vets x4
- T4: Rev Jam
- T5: Hired Help Dancers x4
- T6: (This script assumes Miguel broke himself prior to your turn) L Stone for 5400
- T7: (Tab to Axe) Vets x4
- T8: Defend
- T9: Vets x2
- This usually works because 6600 x 4 + 4400 x 4 + 3000 x 2 = 50,000
- With extra L Stone and Eye for an Eye/Poison, this gaps the range to his 56,808 HP.
- Once you beat Miguel,
- Equipment:
- - Remove all weapons EXCEPT Soldier's Longbow (Master Spear and Death Cleaver are not needed anymore)
- - Put on Enchanted Circlet over Crystal Helm
- - Put on Tempest Amulet over Protective Ring
- WE DO NOT SELL OUR ARMOR (unless we desperately need money) BECAUSE WE MAY NEED TO TANK SOME HITS FROM OGRE.
- Sell all items > 1k that are not Pom L's, Rev Jams, or L Stones.
- You should have about 220k or 250k depending on how many Vets you used on Miguel
- We will get 20k in C4 but if you used a spare Vets, you should get the extra 30k in C4 as well.
- If you're short and closer to 210k, you can either
- - Sell Protective Bracelet, then Force Shield, then High House Armor if needed but makes it more likely OE's hits'll KO if he gets hits in, which will usually happen at least once or twice (selling just one or two pieces of armor is generally fine and doable though).
- - Skip the 20k chest, only get the 30k chest, then stall + Collect Ogre Eagle.
- (You can also just beat OE with 210k-240k but it'll depend more on eye for an eye luck)
- After selling, finish C3 by running toward the right exit.
- If Endless Items did not proc on Rev Jam in the Miguel fight:
- TP Riverford, exit
- Enter Shrine of Warbringer and get Rev Jam (on cliff overlooking the shrine itself)
- TP Orewell and do C4.
- Skip 3 cutscenes, head left to tavern
- Skip 3 cutscenes, mash the 4th cutscene.
- Go down left
- Skip 1 cutscene, mash the 2nd cutscene
- Go up right across the bridge and up into house. Inquire left middle person lying on mat.
- Go down to the inn.
- Skip 4 cutscenes
- Go right to the inn.
- Skip 5 cutscenes.
- (Child Alfyn) Go right and inquire the old man
- Skip 2 cutscenes.
- If you are not getting 20k chest, then Save and Quit at first Save Point when leaving Orewell.
- As mentioned earlier, get either 20k and/or 30k chests depending on your leftover money when you exit to the northwest to get 270k:
- - 20k chest is in the map just northwest of Orewell, up left past the save point, then first down left. TP Orewell and return.
- - 30k chest is: S+Q at same Save Point, go into Forest of Rubeh, follow torches but go straight left and up left path, go midway up then rightward through hidden path and then down, and exit back down.
- Follow torches through the middle section to get to Ogre Eagle's Save Point.
- Inspiration over Evasive Maneuvers.
- Heal HP + SP if needed.
- Save.
- Ogre Eagle (110,175 HP, starts with 4 shields, then 6, then 8 and stays at 8 for each break after)
- Weaknesses: Sword, Bow, Ice, Thunder, Shadow
- Starts with only Ice, then after unbreak gets Sword Ice Thunder, and lastly has all 5 revealed after next break
- It's not really feasible to make a full script for this since a lot of the battle relies on EfaE Eye for an Eye procs and turn order (you will likely have to reset a few times due to status or him breaking through your Sidesteps and KOing you; be patient and just retry if necessary). The gist is to use lots of Pom L/Purifying Seed + Essence of Pomegranate to set up lots of Sidesteps x4 and x3, use Eye for an Eye on Bow to passively break, and then use extra Veterans x4 or x3 when possible or using Vets to hit him on break and/or break him while he's got Sword weakness up, thus buying turns against him while doing damage.
- At the start of the battle and before first break, OE is only weak to Ice, then Sword/Ice/Lightning until second break, and after the second break, it unlocks all its weaknesses Sword/Bow/Ice/Lightning/Dark.
- To get through the first break use:
- T1: (tab to Bow) Injurious Seed + Sleepweed
- T2: Injurious Seed + Sleepweed
- T3: Sidestep x 4 (or use double Ruinous if turn order is good)
- After this, it depends on turn order. The goal is to break again asap, If you go back to back, then
- T4: Ruinous Seed + Sleepweed
- T5: Ruinous Seed + Sleepweed
- otherwise
- T4: Pom L
- T5: Sidestep x4
- T6: Sidestep x3/Ruinous Seed + Sleepweed
- (and when you get a chance, use ruinous or Vets to break him)
- and continue from there, using an extra Ruinous Seed + Sleepweed to break when you get an opportunity. You can also opt to break with Vets x4, which loses a bit of Vets damage, but this is accounted for.
- When it's broken, use the turn to set up more Sidesteps. From there, keep using BP items/Concocts, then use Sidestep x4 x3 to set up a lot of Sidesteps. If you go first in a turn order and see it about to take 4 back to back turns, use Vets x4 if necessary to break, then Sidestep x3.
- Eventually, you want to continue with intense Sidestep focuses with this loop:
- - Pom L/Purifying Seed + Essence of Pomegranate/Rev Jam
- - Sidestep x4
- - Sidestep x3
- - repeat (but occasionally switch to a 3x hit concoct on it if it has 3 shields or Vets x4 or x3 for 3-4 shields to break as necessary or if you have enough Sidesteps)
- It is technically inefficient to boost x4 then x3 rather than x4 x1 x4, but it is often needed for safety, and this is the reason we got so many Pom items, so prioritize x4 x3 cycles.
- However, try to have 5+ Sidesteps leaving each break, as it often does a 2 hit attack leaving break and can follow up with more (it is not impossible to get double hits almost six times in a row followed by a 1 hit to take off 7 Sidesteps while you're trying to recharge BP).
- Keep setting up Sidesteps, break passively or use Concoct to break (Ruinous/Injurious for 3 or 2 hits respectively, and Sleepweed hits Ice, Essence of Plum hits Lightning, and Essence of Pom hits Dark, though you should conserve Pom for BP if possible) or even Vets x4 or x3 to break to buy yourself breathing space. It is better to break after Wind attacks as it tends to Double Rend/regular attack after them.
- Use Rev Jam when SP gets low - Inspiration lets you stall this out a bit and delay the Rev Jams. You can also use it if HP is low from him hitting through Sidesteps.
- When it's broken, use Vets when possible, preferably x4 and/or x3, though using them to break it is fine too, as the money route is fairly generous. (Toward the end, you can even try to Collect its 30k if you somehow run out of money, though this shouldn't happen.)
- At 50% health, it starts using Toxic Rainbow (does normal 1x attack beforehand IIRC), which reduces your Max HP. Maintain Sidesteps at all costs, as you'll be unable to tank any hits if it gets through Sidesteps. Fortunately, it will give you breathing space by occasionally using Wind attacks, which will do almost nothing to you.
- Watch his Collect value so you know when to burst its HP down. Remember he's defeated at 105% Collect, though it stops displaying at 100%.
- Vets damage numbers are apprxoimated below for reference:
- Vets x4 unbroken is 4 shields of 2500 each for 10k or 9.1% Collect
- Vets x3 unbroken is 3 shields of 2950 each for 8.8k or 8% Collect
- Vets x2 unbroken is 2 shields of 3500 each for 7k ish or 6.3% Collect
- Vets x1 unbroken is 1 shield of 5750 once for 5.7k ish or 5.1% Collect
- Vets x4 broken is 3850 x 4 each for 15.4k or 14% Collect
- Vets x3 broken is 4500 x 3 each for 13.5k or 12.2% Collect
- Vets x2 broken is 5450 x 2 each for 10.9k or 9.9% Collect
- Vets x1 broken is 8650 x 1 once for 8.6k or 7.8% Collect
- He has ~110k HP and falls at 105% Collect.
- Time is when the last Skip Cutscene bar fills up and goes to credits. GG.

- Non-Cait Variant (untested but should work):
- This is based on Doid#5819's ideas for Non-Cait Therion (credit to them). Do Alfyn 1, get Wind L from Derelict, TP Clearbrook/tag Sunshade, go to Wellspring by walking that Wellspring map and use Wind L to defeat encounter and Save, tag Wellspring, get Fire L in the south of it by walking, TP Sunshade, run to Scholar shrine and use Fire L to defeat the Scholar shrine encounter. All of that together will put you over 130 JP. Then when you do Tomb of Kings later, grind an extra 1-3 or more battles with Merchant/Scholar/Last Stand or so depending on your experience. We usually leave ToK at high level 15 or low level 16 (optionally grind more for extra security vs Miguel if you'd like).
- (You can also optionally switch to doing this method by assuming you will get a normal Cait and run toward Scholar shrine after the Ch1/Derelict Wind L, then tag Flamesgrace if you don't get a Cait by then, and then TP and go to Sunshade->Wellspring->Fire L as a way to transition from Cait-> Noncait without losing too much time.)
- You will also be lower level for your Steals, so you may need to adjust damage/Steals boost points and such. Adjust the route as needed to accommodate your lower exp/jp/level.
- Re-route Testing to do:
- - test Soldier's Longbow vs Miguel and Ogre Eagle. The latter is especially long and likelier to proc and save some of the 270k worth of Vets to reduce time a bit.

- Non-Cait Variant (untested but should work) with Path of Beasts:
- 1) New Method: do Alfyn 1 (get Ruinous Seed + do Inquire for Essence of Pom from Angler before leaving), get Quarry Wind M + Derelict Wind L, then go to Path of Beasts and toss Wind L (~35% chance of good enc). KO encounters on the way to Scholar Shrine to get 94 JP if needed (~65% you'll need about 20 JP more), then Ruinous + Essence Pom to break ram and M Stone to KO Scholar before the Shrine (gives 36 JP).
- This should be faster than the older Wellspring method on average but uses up the Essence of Pom, so you'll need to grind an extra Steal later. It also runs into the same issue of using up the Wind L, so you'll need to get the extra Wind L around Grandport/Loch areas as well.
