  1. Good-Neutral intentions and evil methods...Id say that a Shadow Druid puts preservation of the wilderness above everything else, whereas regular druids have a similar goal, but try to keep the balance between all things intact.
  2.
  3. For example, lets imagine a typical fantasy village on the frontier to the wilderness, inhabited mostly by humans (or other mostly good/neutral inhabitants).
  4. Now, the villagers have discovered that they can forage a truly delicious kind of mushroom in the nearby forest. Over a short period of time, as more and more villagers enter the woods to look for the tasty food (either to eat or export it), the number of available shrooms quickly depletes. People have to venture deeper and deeper into the woods.
  5. Now this poses a problem not only because the number of humans in the woods disturb the local wildlive and some humans fall prey to predators (probalby resulting in hunting parties out there to avenge their kin), but, unknown to the humans, the mushrooms are also a important food source for the local unicorn population. Sice their food is becoming sparse, the unicorns start to leave the forest.
  6. Now, with those good-aligned protectors gone, orcs, ogres and other evil-aligned creatures start to invade the area.
  7. Of course, sooner or later, this will become a problem for the village...etcetc, I think you get the picture.
  8.
  9.
  10. Now lets see what our druids would do in this scenario:
  11.
  12. The regular druid, observing the scenario, would probably try to educate the villagers about the consequences that arise from their behaviour and make suggestions to solve their problems. These could range from cultivating the mushrooms outside of the forest or maybe creating a group of villagers that oversees the foraging and look out for poachers etc.
  13.
  14. The shadowdruid, on the other hand, would probably send a little bird to the local major, delivering a note that reads: "From the next full moon on, humans must keep out of the forest. Violations will be punished."
  15. Should this not have the intended consquences, he would burn down the village. After all, that would keep the humans out of the forest for good, right?
  16.
  17.
  18. Id imagine that the shadow and regular druids wouldnt get along that well. At best, theyd probably acknowledge the others' goals, but would see them as mis-guided and their own way as the correct one.
  19. Or shadow druids perceive druids as weak, whereas druids see their shadowed brethren as having lost the balance.
