  1. 1Jn 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
  2.
  3. In the first verse of this letter which was wrote by John who was a disciple of Christ according to most scholars, you see what is written that invovles That which was from the beginning, Which we (they have heard), which we (they have) have seen with our eyes, which we (they have) have looked upon, and our (their) hands have handled of the Word of life.
  4.
  5. We are going to address that which was from the beginning.
  6. What was that which was from the beginning?
  7. Let's look at some the biblical internal evidence that concerns and touches on these simple truths.
  8. One place we learn about that which was from the beginning was from the Gospel of John:
  9.
  10. Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  11. Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.
  12. Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  13. Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
  14.
  15. Just would like to take a moment to touch on some of the scriptures you have just heard.
  16.
  17. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOd, and the Word was God. This is talking about before the world was created, that the Word of God was God, and the Word was with God, and in the beginning was the Word.
  18.
  19. This scripture to me personally is emphazing how the Word of God was God in the expression of God (Yahwehs) Character, when Yawah spoke the Word which was apart of Him - created.
  20.
  21. Gen 1:3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
  22. Gen 1:4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
  23.
  24. God spoke by saying - Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, and it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
  25.
  26. Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  27. Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
  28.
  29. Looking at John 1:3-4 you see where John notes: All things were made by him? Who is this him ; it was the Word of God that was with God in the beginning with Yaweh through His spoken word - Helped give the power to create. And without the Word of God was not anyhting made that was made. In verse 4: In the Word of God was life, and the life was the light of men.
  30.
  31. The Word of God has life with-in itself, and the life was the light of men. God said - Let there be light. and there was light. And God saw the light, and it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.
  32.
  33. Joh 1:5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
  34. Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
  35. Joh 1:7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
  36.
  37. In verses 5-7 here, we see the the light shines in the darkness; and that the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
  38.
  39. This is talking about John the Baptist who came preaching in the wilderness to prepare a way for the Lord. John was preaching the baptism of repetance for the remission of sins, who came to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him (John the Baptist) might believe.
  40.
  41. Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
  42.
  43. John the baptist was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of the Light.
  44.
  45. Joh 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
  46.
  47. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
  48.
  49. Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
  50.
  51. The Word of God was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the World knew him not.
  52.
  53. Joh 1:11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
  54.
  55. The Word of God came unto his own people, and his own people received him not.
  56.
  57. Joh 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
  58. Joh 1:13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  59.
  60. In verse 12, and 13: But as many as recieved the Word of God -, to them gave he power to become the sons or daughters of God, even to them that believe on his name (That name is Jesus - Yeshua).
  61.
  62. Joh 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
  63.
  64. In verse 14:
  65. And the Word was made flesh: and dwelt among us (and they beheld his glory, the glory as of the onky begotten of the Father,) Full of grace and truth. ~ the Word of God had become flesh - living among the land coming from the line of David - being born a Jewish man from Nazareth. Who was the glory of the only begotten of the Father, who was full of grace and truth.
  66.
  67.
  68. Joh 1:15  John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
  69.
  70. John the Baptist bare witness of him, and cried, saying. This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for He (Jesus before becoming flesh) was before me, in the beginning being with God, as the Word of God, being the fully expressed character of God.
  71. Wrapping back up around 1 John 1:
  72.
  73. 1Jn 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
  74.
  75. Now that we have explained that which was from the beginning. Lets look at some that which they have seen with their eyes, okay?
  76. Here will pull up Lukes Gospel Account and see in the very first four verses what is being talked about.
  77. Luk 1:1  Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
  78. Luk 1:2  Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
  79. Luk 1:3  It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
  80. Luk 1:4  That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.
  81. Luke is setting up a complied account of the things which they declared of the things which are most surly believed among the apostles since the resurrection of Christ (in which to me all the Gospel letters were complied sometimes after the resurrection of Christ.) Luke is sharing these things which they were eyewitnesses of with Theo-phi-lus. Who this Gospel looks to be written to in the first four verses. Which was the account of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of man, the Messiah, the Word of God, life.
  82. You will also be shown the ending of Luke 24, in which is a reiteration of the beginning of the message of Luke which pertains to everything they were an eyewitness to after the resurrection of Christ Jesus.
  83.
  84. Luk 24:45  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
  85. Luk 24:46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
  86. Luk 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
  87. Luk 24:48  And ye are witnesses of these things.
  88. Luk 24:49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
  89.
  90. You can see here again. Jesus opened the disicples understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. What scriptures were these at the time they had to view? The Old Testament Scriptures was what they had to view back in that day, to look which would prove that the Lord Jesus Christ was indeed the Son of God, that God had sent to be able to reconcile the world back unto himself to restore what was lost in the Garden of Eden.
  91.
  92. You can also see here that Jesus is making it very clear: when He states " Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead, on the third day: That repetance and remissions of sins should be preached in (Jesus's Name) among that word in the king james says nations: the better word for it would be tribes, (that are around the areas of Israel which Paul ends up reaching out to Rome, and Timothy to Crete and all of these other surrounding places of the World that they knew and understood). Jesus told them to start at Jerusalem. That they were a witness to all of these things. Jesus also told them that the promise of the Fater was going to be sent by Jesus - but they were to stay in the city of Jerusalem until they recieved the power from on High.
  93. What have we been able to gather from all this information so far? That the Word of God became flesh, named Jesus. That Jesus was the Word of God from the beginning, that when Yahweh spoke the Word of God that is His expressed Character - Created. That when the Word became flesh, being born a Jewish person of the tribe of Israel - from the line of David being the Son of Man, He came to his own people and they recieved him not. There were many people who looked down upon him.
  94.
  95. We see that in Lukes account, in Chapter 1, He is compiling a scroll for Theophilus which contained the contents of the Son of Gods life, in which Luke and the other apostles had been eyewitness of his resurrection, and you see that Jesus had specific instructions for them to go out and preach to the tribes around the surrounding area of Israel, also to wait for the Holy spirit to be sent to them for them to start their journey. Jesus also opened their mind to be able to understand scripture, and the only scriptures around at that time were the Old Testament, and there was some letters that were sent out which you find in the New Testament now today. However back then they did not have a New Testament until it was complied after Jesus had done resurrected. ( Revelation 1:8; Revelation 1:11; Revelation 1:17-18; Revelation 2:8; Isa 41:4; Pro 8:22-31 )
  96.
  97. Pro 8:22  The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
  98. Pro 8:23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
  99. Pro 8:24  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
  100. Pro 8:25  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
  101. Pro 8:26  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
  102. Pro 8:27  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
  103. Pro 8:28  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
  104. Pro 8:29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
  105. Pro 8:30  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
  106.
  107. Rev 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
  108. Rev 1:11  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
  109. Rev 1:17  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
  110. Rev 1:18  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
  111. Rev 2:8  And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
  112.
  113.
  114. Going back to our very first verse again and for the last time.
  115. 1Jn 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
  116. Luk 24:39  Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
  117. Joh 20:27  Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
  118.
  119. These passage emphaize even more that they had handled, of the Word of life; Jesus of Nazareth the Son of God whom God had risen again from the dead.
  120.
  121. Just a few more verses would like to add here for the sake of clarity of what the bible proclaims about Jesus.
  122. Act 1:20  For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
  123. Act 1:21  Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
  124. Act 1:22  Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
  125.
  126. This was said when Peter decided to cast lots for a replacement for Judas, in which they were going to pick someone who was with them since the day of the baptism of John, and the same day that He was taken up from us, that choice ended up being Mattias, and we never hear about him ever again.
  127.
  128. Act 5:30  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
  129. Act 5:31  Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
  130. Act 5:32  And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
  131.
  132. This was said by Peter and other apostles towards the people whom had them arrested for simply preaching the name of Jesus; and high priest is telling them that they are trying to bring the blood of Jesus unto them as though they had nothing to do with the cruxfiction of Christ. They were a witness to these things, even that the Prince and Saviour was sacrficied even so that repetance for Israel would be given, also the forgiveness of Sins. They also say that the Holy ghost, is also a witness to what happened at the day of the judgement of Christ; amongst the crowd who desired a murder to be released and have an innocent man killed.
  133. Act 10:36  The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
  134. Act 10:37  That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
  135. Act 10:38  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
  136. Act 10:39  And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
  137. Act 10:40  Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
  138. Act 10:41  Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
  139.
  140. Do you see how from the first verse of 1 John 1: How so many verses are all interlinked with each other to make the point, the word which God had sent unto the Children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ ~ That word; which was published al throughout judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached. How God anonited Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were opressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree? Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly. Not to all the people, but unto the witnesses chosen before of God, even to them, who did eat and drink with Jesus after he rose from the dead.
  141.
  142.
  143. Amazing is it not. These are all the realities and truths about whom Jesus Christ is. From being the Word of God which had life in the Logos of God, to be coming down being born of flesh, to living a life on earth, rejected by many people of his own country the nation of Israel. That God had shown Jesus openly to the disciples after being resurrected again, and they even ate and drank with him...
