  1. Before getting into acting, Winnipeg-born Mike Butters had a career as a professional hockey player, spending the early-90s as a defenceman in the minor leagues. He's even listed in the ECHL's record books, having the 4th-most penalty minutes in a playoff game, with 46 during a game in 1992. The whole reason he got into acting is because his career happened to fizzle out while he was playing for a team in Bakersfield, just outside of Los Angeles. After doing the acting thing for a bit, appearing in Pepsiman and a couple of Saw movies among other roles, he got back into hockey in the 00s, taking a job with the Tampa Bay Lightning; first as the general manager of their minor league affiliate in Norfolk in 2008, and then as a scout for the Lightning themselves from 2009-2012. In fact his HockeyDB page has more of a bio for him than his IMDB page does!
