  3. ------------
  4. Just had a cute thought. When Muffet bought the house that she'd turn in to her coffee shop there was an upright piano left behind. She couldn't find a buyer so it just stayed there in the corner.
  5. It was when the human guy in town, a regular along with his friends, was pressured by them to go up and play it that she had to learn his name, playing wonderfully along with the Jazz on the radio.
  6. Sometimes, during quiet moments, or if the atmosphere needed some buzz, he'll go and play it. She'll just sit behind the counter, head resting in one of her hands, watching him with that smug look on her face.

  8. Somewhat inspired by this. Though I also wanted to draw a Muffet where she looks relaxed and not stressed out, haha.
  9.
  10. More Susie soon. As much as I love the spider, I can't leave our girl hanging for long.
  11. -
  12. That's super adorable. Just how I imagined her looking at her guy.
  13. But mentioning Susie, I did think of something nice.
  14.
  15. >It was a quiet day at Miss Muffet's Tea Room
  16. >The rain keeping most customers away
  17. >From outside the gentle drumming on the awning could be heard
  18. >But like always for a Friday, Susie had come in.
  19. >Drenched to the bone, her hair covering her face
  20. >"Just like old times," Kris quipped.
  21. >The two laughed.
  22. >Muffet laughed along politely, though it was clear that there was more than the hair being talked about here
  23. >Sometimes she forgets the history those two have together
  24. >She doesn't feel left out though
  25. >After all, it's not like Susie feels jealous of Noelle for having known Kris since he was five.
  26. >"At least you're clean for once," Muffet said, grimacing slightly as Susie shook herself off like a dog.
  27. >After a short back and forth, Kris went back to what he was doing, namely tinkling on the piano, along with the jazz on the radio.
  28. >Her mind swam backwards through time, back to when he was just "another regular" to her
  29. >Who had become nearly as important to her as this small hole in the wall cafe
  30. >He was with his friends when after calls and demands, it descended in to the three---Susie, Noelle, and Berdly--- hitting the table and chanting "Kris! Kris! Kris!" over and over until he eventually got up.
  31. >A lot of the other patrons knew the young man, and what happened next wasn't a surprise.
  32. >After a short warm up, his fingers moved across the old keys, the whites turning yellow with age.
  33. >Fingers moving with the dexterity and lightness of a spider moving over a web, as if every strand was a harpstring
  34. >After he'd played a while, and after some polite applause he went back, after a somewhat-shy bow.
  35.

  38. >When he came back to order one last round of drinks, the pair got to talking.
  39. >"I didn't know that people here would know spider jazz," Muffet said, smugly associating herself with the subgenre.
  40. >"It was mostly my brother, or really, his CDs," Kris said. "I think he had some Louis Eightarmstrong in there, and then I looked in to it from there, he---"
  41. >"Who else do you like," Muffet asked eagerly.
  42. >"I..." Kris felt off balance, being forced to talk about himself to what is really a stranger, someone he needed to introduce himself to. "I like..."
  43. >And it all flowed on from there.
  44. >Talking about all sorts until long after the place has closed down.
  45. >"I just realised," Kris said. "we never properly introduced ourselves. I'm Kris, you probably guessed that from the table pounding."
  46. >"I'm Muffet," she said grinning, "you probably guess that from the sign outside..."
  47. >"You're doing the look again," the spider suddenly heard.
  48. >She looked up, the large snout the lizard cracked in to a grin, her large eyebrows arced
  49. >"Can't help myself," Muffet replied, her grin turning smug.
  50. >Susie laughed in her hoarse way
  51. >"I'm Kris found someone that suits him so well," Susie said, her voice, usually rambunctious turning gentle.
  52. >Muffet looked at Susie with her five eyes, a question on her face.
  53. >But Susie isn't the kind to keep things feelsie for too long.
  54. >So holding her hand out flat, palm down, lowered it to Muffet's height.
  55. >Muffet being a few inches shorter than Kris, who was already shorter than most monsters in Hometown.

  59. Very cute and comfy, anon.
  60. -
  61. Thanks. It's nice to think of Kris being forced in to a position where he has to talk about himself without anyone (not even (You)) backing him up. With his friends it was either something already put in place or had (You) involved, this isn't the case here. It shows how far he's come. Plus Muffet, unlike a load of other people in Hometown, neither knows nor cares about Asriel or his musical taste.
  62.
  63. The thing is, I don't want to imply that "lol Kris is fixed now and now he's a real go-getter." He isn't, and he never will be. He's, much like Muffet in this setting, still an introvert at heart. That was the double meaning of Susie's line at the end. That they're both happy with their small circle of friends and tiny part of the world.
  64.
  65. Though I might delve in to whether or not Muffet might have needed time to realise that it's okay not to have a massive business empire, but that she can be happy with her small hole in the wall, and that she should be proud of what a success it has been.
