  1. 1. Continuity.
  2.
  3. A Continuity is a world or universe or dimension. Every Roleplaying game has its own Continuity, and what happens in one is not valid in another. Every Continuity is independent of all the rest. Several Rooms can share one Continuity, if its owners agree.
  4.
  5. 2. Acceptable Character Types Are Limited
  6.
  7. You agree to not make up your own character classes, races, or major traditions. The Rule of Cool isn't free-form RP, but rather, playing in a shared world, with its own history already. Surprises are great, and creativity is wonderful, but too much can seriously hurt Roleplay.
  8.
  9. Currently acceptable in Nowhere:
  10. - Humans
  11. - Werewolves
  12. - Vampires
  13. - Fae
  14. - Elves
  15. - Augmented humanoids
  16. - Monsters
  17. - Sentient ferals (Ferians)
  18.
  19. NO:
  20. - God characters
  21.
  22. 3. The geography is mostly established.
  23.
  24. Under the Rule of Cool, you agree not to invent IC locations outside of that Continuity. EX: In the Dragonlands, this means the Olde World, Kasuria, and the Dragonlands. It's okay to make up the name of a village but you couldn't just invent the name of a capital city, because larger places already have names, for example, the capital of Kasuria is Malgrave. The purpose of this is to remove ownership of these places from the control of any one player; established locations are shared parts of the Continuity.
  25.
  26. The town Nowhere is literally just that- Nowhere. The lack of a sign and nearby landmarks means the town completely lacks a name. But street names are up to the player- as there are far too many streets to currently map out or list. (Also due to Nowhere's unique properties, street names don't really exist.)
  27.
  28. In Nowhere, there's a very thin border between dream and reality. As such, your dreams and mind influence reality to a degree.
  29.
  30. 4. The Guiding Theory of Roleplaying: ICA=ICC
  31.
  32. The guiding theory of Roleplay is this:
  33. In-Character Actions lead to In-Character Consequences. This is abbreviated as ICA=ICC. It's considered very uncool to start a conflict without facing up to its natural results, for example.
  34.
  35. Suppose that Liago the Lion throws his beer in the face of Grendilla, a powerful warrior. Under the Consent Rule (Persona Play), Liago can merrily run away or ignore it when Grendilla posts trying to punch him or attacking Liago with his sword.
  36.
  37. Under the Rule of Cool, Liago is expected to respond to what Grendilla has posted. Liago may not just walk out casually. If Liago logs off (either by accident OR on purpose) Liago is expected to re-schedule a time when all the characters involved can meet and finish the brawl.
  38.
  39. 5. Show your respect for other players, OOCly if not ICly.
  40.
  41. To show respect for the Continuity is to show respect for others. Your OOC reputation as roleplayer is quite important, and if you don't follow ICA=ICC, other players will very quickly spread that info about you. On the other hand, things that encourage others to RP with you are:
  42.
  43. Speaking in character
  44. Not using abbreviations like u instead of you
  45. Being careful to capitalize and punctuate, etc.
  46. Showing through your interactions that you're aware of what the other characters are like
  47. When you multiworld, your ability to visualize the other character's appearance in your head is EXTREMELY poor, and to all but the most novice players, it shows. One of the easiest ways to show disrespect is to lag between posts while you play another character in another scene. It might be just fine in Persona Play; in RolePlaying it's disastrous.
  48.
  49. 6. Combat
  50.
  51. We will be following the three dodge rule. You may request staff supervision but it isn't a must.
  52.
  53. Countering an attack (while still taking some form of damage) will not count as a full dodge.
  54.
  55. Don't get involved in a fight if you aren't going to accept the possibility of losing.
  56.
  57. Consent is implied once combat starts, at that point your character may die, or attempt to flee the battle. Do note 'friends' cannot be magically summoned. (Unless all parties involved agree.)
  58.
  59. Implied consent does not mean you may thrillkill another PC, please have a reason for attacking and attempting to kill a character.
  60.
  61. In the care of multiple players in one fight, all involved must agree to this before it starts. If you're present and don't want to be involved, post your getaway/exit.
  62.
  63. Keep logs. If you need to pause because of life (we get it) then feel free to post what has transpired thus far on google docs or pastebin.
  64.
  65. 7. Magic and Technology
  66.
  67. PCs with magic and advanced technology may find said magic almost rendered completely moot or technology missing. The corporation is a strange one, and the veil cast over this town is unusually effective. Supernatural abilities do not function.
  68. Magical disguises and shape shifting require far more effort and most shapeshifters are forced back to their true forms upon entering Nowhere.
