  1. [23:41] The man, with all the irony embedded upon his smirk, moved to face Malentine for a second. "I heard a mass today about... Huangzhou, the angels, and some other things. But you know."
  2.
  3. "I thought... They aim to be holier than others, yes? They... Wield the sacred art of Azrael on their own right. But I imagined... Alright, it's a bit weird." He says, smirk vanishing for a second-- But his expression closes down, entirely serious this time. He knew that Malentine was an impersonator, but what he was going to ask was...
  4.
  5. Perhaps still a bit exquisite. "I want to look like them. I want to use their own arts. I want to KNOW how they act... And I want to turn their very weapons upon them."
  6.
  7. "I want them to look at me, and see their heroes. And I want to see the look of shock on their faces when they notice it is an oscuri instead. You get what I mean, yes?"
  8. (Alastor G. Vishkar)
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.
  11. [23:52] Malentine put his arms behind his back and listened to the oscuri's plan. It seemed like an interesting concept and one that the vampire found rather hilarious. Of course this didn't cause him to break out into raucous laughter but it did earn Alastor a shinier grin than normal from the vampire.
  12.
  13. "If there is one thing I can appreciate about you Azraelites it's that you certainly have a knack for speaking my language. I won't go into my... philosophical differences but if it's a spit in the face of the greater Creator and Fate itself then by all means, I hope you succeed."
  14.
  15. He brought his hand together in front of him and looked to Dalia. "And what about you, Dalia Karadin. Have you considered something more tangible than simple power that you're after? Something specific that can be pointed at or alluded to?"
  16. (Malentine Invidia)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [00:01] "Why would anybody wanna dress up as those people in Huangzhou? I think that's stupid," she so 'politely' said to her friend.
  20.
  21. When Malentine asked of her, she went without answer for a couple of moments. Sure, attaining power was a good goal, but it was indeed sort of intangible; in the end, she just wanted to make the Karadin name big, as her father would want that. "Uh." There's an uncharacteristically slight amount of uncertainty in the young woman's voice.
  22.
  23. "I... don't know, I just don't want to end up nowhere like Eric; I know meeting with Illaron will help me get up there in terms of strength, but I don't really know what or how to go about getting... 'power' or influence or anything like that, honestly."
  24. (Dalia Karadin)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [00:07] "I don't want to dress up as them, Dalia. I want to look like one of them. I want to mock them-- I want to use the same magic that their heroes do." He explained, a scowl briefly positioning itself upon his face.
  28.
  29. However, he continued on, trampling onto the field of power that Dalia herself spoke about. "You could probably get a go once you're powerful enough. After that... It's just bad. But still. I need help knowing how they act-- How they fight, and all that." He spoke, looking towards Malentine.
  30. (Alastor G. Vishkar)
  31. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  32.
  33. [00:16] "Ah yes, Illaron, one of the archon lords who let his empire crumble and is nearly as dormant as the Lady Tragedy. What a brilliant teacher..." Malentine mocked the demons with impunity and floated about his half of the lab, giving a wave of his hand as he spoke as if to dismiss the very names of creatures who deemed themselves masters of this continent.
  34.
  35. "You could follow the path your father went down, but where will that end? Pacted, sure, but all your father is really known for is his name upon some of the streets here in Baukdengrad. He's known as a king who left due to apathy." Malentine's monotone voice expressed these things as facts, not as if he was trying to insult Dalia, though they could very well be taken that way. "You're going to have to dream a bit bigger, Miss Karadin, if you wish to mark your name down in the history books, I'm afraid."
  36.
  37. He looked to Alastor. "They fight with holy magic, and some innate sense of self-worth that is admirable to some and stupid to others. I find it irritating that they often believe themselves more than they are, though their potential certainly does rise when they set their minds to things.
  38.
  39. Then again, so do animals."
  40. (Malentine Invidia)
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. [00:28] "I don't care for any of his teachings, I just want the ring 'n I can go and do whatever the fuck I want-" It was obvious the young Karadin was reacting quite negatively to Malentine's comments, even if they could not be taken as insults. "...and I'd prefer if you didn't talk about my father like that, thank you very much. I wanna carry on my dad's name, but that isn't all I have planned.
  44.
  45. ...I just don't know how to go about it, or what even to do, okay?" Her eyes drift back to Alastor.
  46.
  47. "I still think your thing is dumb."
  48. (Dalia Karadin)
  49. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  50.
  51. [00:41] The reaction that Dalia has is met with a quirked eyebrow by Alastor. One hand rises, slowly being put over her shoulder. Perhaps a reminder for her to simply calm herself down-- After all, they were in the realm of the vampire lord.
  52.
  53. But still, that wicked smirk continues present upon his face. Her attempt at changing focus for his own thing instead of her own bad behavior is received by a slight furrow of his eyebrows, purple irises staring directly onto her.
  54.
  55. "I know that, Lord Malentine." He replies, looking back onto the vampire-- The hint of aggressiveness that was within his image vanished slightly, but it was still present. "But I intend to copy their way in battle. Specially... Their way of conducting close quarters combat, that is. If they have any special techniques-- Any special quirks-- Any special kinds of magic... I want to use it."
  56.
  57. "And I want to see terrorupon their face as I unleash hell upon them, using their own weapons." By Azrael, he almost seems too excited by it. The smirk is, this time, converted entirely into a full-fledged grin, slowly growing at each word that he spoke.
  58. (Alastor G. Vishkar)
  59. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  60.
  61. [00:49] "Well..."
  62.
  63. The vampire was patient and heard them both out. He brought his hands that were clasped together up near his shoulder and tilted his head, as if somehow attempting to look innocent. "I cannot teach you much about the fighting styles of Huangzhou. Holy magic and I well... we don't really mix you see?
  64.
  65. No I am much more a creature of..."
  66.
  67. Suddenly a vial of some strange liquid behind Malentine on a shelf burst. Whatever it had within it splattered across the wall and dribbled down onto the floor. There was a moment of silence where about a dozen other vials all do the same, going one by one in a pace that was picking up speed. The air around the vampire rippled and his eyes gave off a sickly green, horrid glow that if the duo looked into would cause them to feel a deep and morbid sense of longing. Whatever it is they didn't have, they were sure to be reminded of it, and whatever it was someone else had, they would see it. Jealousy, as it seemed, was rather contagious near the Inquisitor.
  68.
  69. "Corruption. Chaos. I wage war upon this Lifestream and this reality, it is my goal, you see? My greatest enemy is not some exorcist in the Jiang offland second rate colony, no.
  70.
  71. My greatest enemy is the Fate that killed my family and made me what I am." His words were sent out with a wave of something that again washed over the two in front of him, a pure sensation of instability and overwhelming hatred and selfishness.
  72.
  73. "One thing you must both understand is that I am not here to baby you. I won't simply give you something. You're here to take it, just as you will someday take that which you desire most. "
  74. (Malentine Invidia)
  75. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. [00:51] Dalia really wanted a cheeseburger.
  78. (Dalia Karadin)
  79. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  82. [01:08] The bursting of vials in the background caused her to swiftly go on attention before she could comment or react to Alastor's gesture.
  83.
  84. Not only that, but she was met with that sickeningly sweet sense of corruption that the smaller, dormant part of her being just loved to indulge in, despite what most of her felt; it was pure corruption and she absolutely knew it, yet something was different about this. Whether it was due to her unstable emotions or a bit of shoving from whatever energies Malentine generated, her mind immediately went back to the moment her father departed.
  85.
  86. People knew him but not her; she was simply living in the man's shadow, when it came down to it. Why should she even continue his name when she could make a name for herself, anyway? Something to get into the history books, as the vampire mentioned.
  87.
  88. But with that she'd need connections, like her father.
  89. Status, like her father.
  90. Influence, like her father.
  91. Power, like her father.
  92.
  93. Just like her father.
  94.
  95. But the only thing she had of her father's was his last name.
  96.
  97. Her eyes narrow until they're practically slits.
  98.
  99. In a low, hostile tone she would speak while trying not to let her emotions boil over into a fit.
  100.
  101. "...are all vampires as vile as you? There's something about you, Malentine."
  102. (Dalia Karadin)
  103. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  104.
  105. [01:20] Alastor simply accompanied the bursting vials with attention. Purple irises followed them, one by one. The sensation settled within him, but it seemed to not take much... Effect by itself. He knew, for a fact, he didn't have what he wanted.
  106.
  107. Because what he wanted was the arts of the holy magi of Huangzhou. All the things that were typically classified as something used by these "goody two-shoes" personas, he wanted to have. He knew it, he wanted it, and he would get it.
  108.
  109. There was no doubt in his mind-- He didn't allow it to settle in. As soon as Dalia starts speaking again, the hand on her shoulder squeezes her some. He whispers, in a low tone, approaching her ears as she continues to talk.
  110.
  111. And then, he pats her shoulder slightly. "I know you are not here to baby us, Lord Malentine. I merely expected you'd have understood how they fought with your experience and... Talents."
  112. (Alastor G. Vishkar)
  113. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  114.
  115. The vampire floated closer to the duo, his expression and smile fading into something of a dull and joyless look. His eyes continued to shine as Dalia was put on edge and spat her question, while Alastor spoke of his own plans and aims. More things moved, at random it seemed, but nothing else broke. A book fell off a shelf or a paper upon the desk was caught up in some invisible tornado but the focal point was very obviously Malentine himself.
  116.
  117. "There is no vampire currently as vile as I, Miss Karadin. Because no other vampire has felt the things I felt. Voss... is certainly the strongest of us, and even the most driven, with his Sin of Wrath, but he is content to be the monster he is, and nothing more.
  118.
  119. Lady Donovan is close. She herself has been blessed with the Sin of Gluttony. Though she is far from delving deep into it... if she were a human, perhaps someone would have even saved her by now."
  120.
  121. The other lightsources within the lab began to go out, flickering flames extinguished as if fingers had pinched over them, and in the darkness Malentine's horrid green luminescence persisted. Its power was far more potent, filling the space with the great and insidious Sin of Envy.
  122.
  123. And yet.
  124.
  125. There was something else. An entropic force that seemed to constantly be about Malentine's form, as if the world was trying to push him out of existence in miniature fight.
  126.
  127. "Sins and vampirism can only take someone so far... I have always been about... progression. I have consistently never taken my eyes off of tomorrow. It is what is most important and it is why I am the person I am today.
  128.
  129. There is a manipulation to this world that the demons, archons, and some in Dawn have mastered. A power meant to influence the structure of your surroundings very, very directly. I have only recently attained this talent through indulging my own blessing...
  130.
  131. And I am the only vampire who is currently capable of wielding it."
  132. (Malentine Invidia)
  133. The young Karadin was still quite on edge, but she managed to calm down enough to where she didn't look like she would jump at someone.
  134.
  135. "Sin," she repeated; just a few days ago, a certain individual had told her of such a level of corruption, where negative emotions and actions became tangible as magic. The thought bewildered her, but here was living (or unloving) proof of the concept right before her eyes.
  136.
  137. It was disgusting.
  138. But alluring.
  139.
  140. There was no way she could fall like that.
  141. But was it really falling?
  142.
  143. There were other ways she could get strong.
  144. But god, she hated how strong the people here were.
  145.
  146. ...
  147.
  148. She was jealous.
  149.
  150. ...
  151.
  152. Thoughts aside, the young focused onto Malentine again, doing her best to not think of the many, many things she didn't have.
  153.
  154. "I dunno what to say about you, Malentine, I-"
  155.
  156. Speechless.
  157. (Dalia Karadin)
