  1. Black Company Entries and Factions:
  2. Trooper Twitch
  3. The youngest ever recruit of the Company and the one who still holds the record for most years served. They joined at 8 summers and stayed a Trooper until the day of their death 70 winters later. The tales of his exploits and misadventures are popular among the ranks. One of the most popular entries on Trooper Twitch concerns the time he was demoted and promoted twice in a single day. The latter for malingering and the former for outstanding bravery in the face of the enemy, and no that is not a mistake. He found himself demoted again within the week for insubordination.
  4.
  5. The Bastard
  6. The first of the Company to hear the call of the Dark Father, he founded the Blackguard Caste. His story is one rife with bloodshed, dark deeds and the hint of a greater role for the Company in the grand scheme of creation. During the Council of Far Sut Rus he received a vision from the Dark Father and over the course of a single night his actions plunged the Eastern Kingdoms into a war of previously unheard of proportions. During this time the Black Company won some of its greatest victories and solidified its place in history beyond just another mercenary band.

  8. Ancient History
  9. In the beginning, during the Cataclysm, the Company found itself cut off from its other brothers. The Annals lost, or at least not with this section of the Company, and no knowledge of this strange new land before them. They accepted a contract with a local petty King, as much for pay as it was for information. Skarling Kingbreaker’s unification war hit them hard, when all other forces fled the Company remained and honoured their contract. Skarling and his elite carved their way through their ranks and killing both the Captain and Lieutenant in ‘single’ combat before reaching their employer lordling, bringing the battle to an end. Impressed with their stubborn resistance and professionalism, Skarling Kingbreaker offered them a new contract. One they were in no position to refuse.

  11. Recent Losses
  12. The Company has had better days. Nearly a third of their number perished at Sarsburg, and it would have been more if not for your own efforts. That many again fell at Oxenfurt Bridge, or on the hard march back here. Faces you knew, friends, debtors, comrades and drinking partners from all the other platoons. So many are missing now… These new recruits are the first bit of fresh blood the Company has had in a long while. Hopefully, they are not the last.
  13.
  14. Prince Entry
  15. Like most of the men and women of the company, Prince was not inclined to share the details of his times of yore. I know he is a native Neumunster-born, but beyond that I do not know and even less desire to ask.
  16. After the harsh Northern Coast campaign he served without much distinction in the 2nd Infantry for several years, largely part of the then-Corporal Kiranova’s squad. ‘Blind’ Griff, Damien ‘Trots’, ‘Bad Hand’ Hadrien, ‘Crink’, ‘Merch’ and ‘Holy’ Halloway were an inseperable band. I remember them quite clearly, a rambunctious bunch that pulled together and performed some of the finest soldiering I’ve ever seen in a pinch. Over the years their positions changed, some following paths in the Rangers or Kreigstrom, others moving up the ranks, and more still joining the honoured dead.
  17. Even I can’t remember what they called Prince before the Ajiyimad Campaign. I nearly shat myself laughing in the Emir’s hall when they crowned him as a decoy for assassins. He found it less entertaining, especially after a close encounter with the White Hand later on. After that, no other nickname would do.
  18. Prince first made his mark on Company history during the Siege of Sarsburg, the capital of the Neumunster Empire. While I myself was not present in that Great City when all the terrors of Below were set upon it, every man and woman who I have talked to that was there swears that it was Prince that braved the hellish city alone to bring the surviving brothers and sisters to the secret passage into the Imperial Palace, where the wards would hold the daemons at bay.
  19. While feathery career-men and bluebloods would envy his sudden catapult of promotion from Corporal to Lieutenant, I remember Prince being very uncomfortable with it, preferring the familiarity of the NCO ranks to the loftier LT position. Nevertheless, he has so far excelled in every aspect of it. I worry for him though, he seems angrier and colder every time I see him these days…
  20. [Here follows a list of commendations, notable kills and certain disparaging remarks]
  21.
  22. Factions:
  23. Free Alliance [Crumbling]
  24. The Kalgarri Dominion [Expanding]
  25. The Wild [Expanding]
  26. The Necromancer [Ascendant]
  27. Other Factions: The Skalds to the north send their men to the fight, but far too little and too late to make a difference to the Necromancer. The Ajiyimad Caliphate minds its own business, like the even more distant Rakasha Raj they are more concerned with internal unrest than threats from abroad. The Isabella Clans are also largely removed from the conflict, but by unfathomable magic rather than sheer distance.
