  1. Hello,
  2.
  3. Someone writes... (A BSDNow joke)
  4.
  5. I am finding that my road warrior users want to expose their FreeNAS systems to their laptops and phones but naturally that sounds like a risky proposition. FreeNAS includes OpenVPN and their are various tutorials about setting it up in a FreeNAS jail but a dedicated piece of hardware would presumably have advantages such as Mac, Windows, iOS and Android compatibility without tinkering, plus the warm fuzzies that some with a "real VPN".
  6.
  7. Under $300 US would be idea and a quick Amazon search, sorted by reviews yields:
  8.
  9. TP-LINK TL-R600VPN $69
  10. CISCO RV042G $176
  11. Cisco RVS4000 $95
  12. Cisco Meraki MX60 $385
  13. Netgear Security appliance 8 ports EN Fast EN $215
  14. NETGEAR ProSAFE FVS318G $111
  15.
  16. BUT, some of these have a single five star review which is a bit suspicious.
  17.
  18. Have you used any of these units and can you recommend them?
  19.
  20. Assuming a SoHo cable Internet connection with a wifi router, where would this unit reside on the LAN and in relationship to the FreeNAS system?
  21.
  22. Keep up the good work,
  23.
  24. Someone
