  1. EARLY RELEASE FOR PATRONS! THANKS SO MUCH!
  2.
  3. A/N; So! This fic was originally a roleplay I did (with myself, ahaha) so I wrote both Blake's and Yang's parts! I just wanted to try it out, but it was essentially just writing a long fic in parts. It was fun! But I was sure to edit it to make the flow easier to comprehend so it's not switching back and forth between both girls' POVs.

  5. Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY.

  7. ----------------------------------
  8.
  9. Locked In
  10.
  11. Blake couldn't believe this.
  12.
  13. Sure, she'd been immersed in books before, but usually about science fiction - daring sword fights, mysterious apparitions, gruesome assassinations - you name it.
  14.
  15. But it was actually rather rare for her to get hooked on the romance. It only happened when she stumbled upon a particularly good series. Usually, she could read those novels with a straight face, with an uncaring expression that suggested she was only mildly immersed in the story, and the people around her would be none the wiser. Meanwhile - on the inside - she'd be craving more.
  16.
  17. Now was one of the few times she just couldn't wait until tomorrow to go to the library and rent out the next volume.
  18.
  19. She'd finished the previous book that had left her on a devastating cliffhanger and she just needed to know what happened next.
  20.
  21. So she scrambled out of bed where she'd been reading that evening, still in her school uniform, having been too focused on her book earlier to bother changing clothes. Ruby and Weiss had gone to bed, and only Yang was aware of her partner slipping toward the door almost sheepishly.
  22.
  23. The blonde was brushing her hair from her bed at the time, getting ready to sleep when Blake stood and went to the door. The brawler paused what she was doing and watched her girlfriend curiously.
  24.
  25. "What'cha doing?" she wondered.
  26.
  27. Blake froze at the door, her finished book under her arm as she cast a quick glance over her shoulder at her partner.
  28.
  29. "I'm going to the library. I'll be back soon." Her hand went to the door knob and turned it, feet eager to get into the hallway and head for her destination.
  30.
  31. "Wait, what?" Yang called softly, putting her brush aside to drop down to the floor. She scrutinized Blake before lifting an eyebrow. "Oooh, I get it. Your sultry romance story was so good that ya can't wait for more, hmm~?" She hummed knowingly; the guilty flick of Blake's ears was all Yang needed to see to know she was right on the money with her guess.
  32.
  33. She chuckled. "Well then, hold up a sec, okay? I'll come with you. Got nothing else better to do anyway. Plus, you shouldn't be walking around school at night by yourself."
  34.
  35. Blake groaned to herself, bringing a hand to her forehead. She figured something like this might happen. She told herself she should've just slipped out the door without saying a word, but it was too late now. And what's worse was the fact that Yang called her out on being so hooked on her story that she was impatient for more.
  36.
  37. "You don't have to come," Blake mumbled. "And I think I can handle myself. Superior night vision, remember?" But she should've known Yang would come anyway, and Blake couldn't blame her. After all, she wouldn't like the thought of Yang going off somewhere at night alone either.
  38.
  39. Yang grabbed her uniform from where she had tossed it at the foot of her own bed. Shamelessly, she stripped from her pajama shorts and tank top. Blake blushed instantly and looked away as she did so, refusing to glance back until the blonde had slipped into the skirt and blazer.
  40.
  41. At least Yang had the decency to put on her uniform so the librarian wouldn't see her in disheveled pajamas, as that might've raised a bit of suspicion.
  42.
  43. When Yang was finished, she grinned and gave Blake a thumbs-up.
  44.
  45. "Okay! All set!"
  46.
  47. Blake sighed again. "Alright. Then let's get this over with and we'll be back before we know it."
  48.
  49. "Right!" Yang slipped her scroll into her blazer's front pocket and stepped into her shoes before sauntering over to her girlfriend. She noticed the pink tint on the girl's cheeks and poked her side teasingly. "Aw, still not used to seeing me take my clothes off, huh? I can help ya get used to it if you want! Of course, you could always help m- ow!"
  50.
  51. A flustered yet weighted stomp to her foot left Yang clinging to the door frame for support.
  52.
  53. True to her word, Blake headed off down the hallway in a huff, the black triangles of her bow twitching as her ears flattened in embarrassment.
  54.
  55. Yang cast a quick glance back over her shoulder to her sleeping sister and the heiress before she closed the door and followed her girlfriend. Blake had already put a considerable distance between them, and Yang needed to jog to catch up to her.
  56.
  57. The lights of the hallway were bright in comparison to the dim lighting of their room, so she squinted a bit until her eyes adjusted.
  58.
  59. Once she was step for step with Blake, she casually slipped a hand down between their bodies, successfully managing to take hold of Blake's fingers.
  60.
  61. "So what was the story you were reading about that's so good you can't wait till tomorrow? Were things just getting steamy? Blake, you're so naughty~"
  62.
  63. A small growl and an intense glare silenced her.
  64.
  65. Thankfully, the warning glare shut Yang up rather quickly, though not without one last chuckle from her. Blake's ears twitched and she looked away quickly, mortified that her partner's guess had been correct, but refusing to give Yang the satisfaction of knowing it.
  66.
  67. She merely snorted again and continued walking, but kept her hand in Yang's nonetheless.
  68.
  69. There was something different about the school at night, the hallways that were normally so compact with students and staff now vacant. Instead of the din of voices, they could clearly hear each click of their shoes against the tiled floor. Everything seemed bigger and it was strange to be able to move so easily.
  70.
  71. A security guard on night watch spotted them, asking where they were going.
  72.
  73. "To the library," Blake told him. "There's a book I need for tomorrow." She wasn't lying. She just prayed Yang wouldn't blab about it being a romance book.
  74.
  75. Luckily she didn't, and the guard nodded once.
  76.
  77. "Alright then," he said. "But you'd better hurry. The library closes in fifteen minutes. And after another half hour it's curfew for students."
  78.
  79. "Of course," Blake smiled politely. "Thank you."
  80.
  81. "Have a good night."
  82.
  83. The two girls quickened their pace the rest of the way, and the increase in motion served to warm them up a bit on the chilly autumn evening.
  84.
  85. Despite the slight sense of urgency in the air, Yang did her best to savor the relative silence of the school buildings. If she'd been alone, it might've been a bit haunting, but with Blake it was just… kinda fun.
  86.
  87. Aside from a few other security guards on campus, there didn't seem to be anyone else around at this hour - understandably so, considering it was a school night. It felt almost rebellious, and Yang felt a smirk curl her lips; she loved the little thrill that thought sent coursing through her.
  88.
  89. They continued through the hallways until the library was in sight, and Blake visibly relaxed a bit at the fact that the lights inside were still on. The pair ended up almost running the rest of the way until they'd slipped in through the doors.
  90.
  91. "Safe!" Yang declared loudly; had it been during daytime hours, she would've been harshly shushed by a handful of other people present, Blake included.
  92.
  93. Relief washed over the Faunus girl as soon as she stepped foot inside, and she let out a sigh.
  94.
  95. "Come on," she grunted, looping her arm through the blonde's and pulling her over to the front desk.
  96.
  97. The woman behind it looked tired, as though she were about to start cleaning her desk and locking up for the night. When she saw the two girls approaching, she pushed her glasses up onto her nose.
  98.
  99. "Ladies," she greeted. "It's awfully late."
  100.
  101. "We know. We're sorry," Blake said. "I just need to get one book and we'll be out."
  102.
  103. "Very well. Just make sure you're out in fewer than five minutes."
  104.
  105. "We will," Blake nodded politely.
  106.
  107. As Blake was exchanging words with the librarian, Yang was letting her eyes wander around the vacant library. It was weird seeing it so empty, and it was ten times quieter than usual, too. For whatever reason, she thought it was a lot more alluring now than it was during the daytime.
  108.
  109. When Blake finished her conversation, she took off toward the rows and rows of bookshelves at a brisk pace, and Yang followed quickly. But she stopped partway, wanting to see what it was like to walk among the bookshelves knowing there were no other students at the end of the aisle.
  110.
  111. So she veered off away from Blake and slipped down a nearby aisle, hands behind her back as she looked up. The mountainous shelves made her feel kind of humble in a way, especially when the lighting was dimmer now that it was dark outside.
  112.
  113. The blonde walked aimlessly for a few minutes until a glance back over her shoulder at the large clock on the far wall told her they needed to be out soon. She started walking a little faster, hurrying along and peering down the aisles like a child who'd lost her mother in a grocery store.
  114.
  115. "Blake?" she called softly. "Crap…"
  116.
  117. Blake never checked to see if Yang was following her or not. She passed by the educational tomes and text books and headed for the recreational reading section. She knew this place better than the back of her hand and maneuvered through the aisles with ease and familiarity.
  118.
  119. When at last she reached the section she sought, she rushed to it, eyes scanning the numbers until-
  120.
  121. "It's here." Her voice was probably more excited than she should've let it be, but she didn't care. She carefully pulled out the book she needed and sent a silent prayer of thanks to the fates for letting her find it.
  122.
  123. She would've started to read it right then and there, but she knew better.
  124.
  125. She turned around with the book to her chest, wearing an accomplished smile.
  126.
  127. "Alright Yang, let's-"
  128.
  129. And that smile quickly fell into a frown.
  130.
  131. Yang was nowhere to be seen.
  132.
  133. "Yang?" she hissed. "Great. Just great. Normally I can't get her off of me and now when I need her to be here, she's nowhere to be found..." Keeping her book in one hand, Blake groaned and started walking off through the library calling her partner's name.
  134.
  135. With each moment, she grew progressively more apprehensive, and she quickened her pace until she was basically running.
  136.
  137. /How far could she've possibly gone?/ she wondered.
  138.
  139. Meanwhile, the blonde ran a little faster through the rows of bookshelves, wondering if she should just head for the exit now or the front desk to ask the woman there to hold off on closing.
  140.
  141. Between going in circles and just missing one another by seconds every time, somewhere along the lines, they got lucky.
  142.
  143. Yang caught sight of a figure far down one of the aisles.
  144.
  145. "Blake!" She sighed in relief when her partner turned back to her and they hurried to meet halfway.
  146.
  147. "There you are…" Blake was slightly out of breath as she ran to Yang. "Where did you run off to? We don't have much time left, so let's go now." She brushed past her girlfriend and started back down the aisle.
  148.
  149. "Alright, alright!" Yang waved her free hand dismissively. "Take a chill pill, Blake. I just went off to look around for a minute. This place is a lot cooler at night when there's no one else here, y'know?"
  150.
  151. Nonetheless, she followed her partner back through the shelves, giving a squeeze to her hand.
  152.
  153. But Blake was a bit flustered after the little mishap just now, and she was so distracted that she got them a bit lost on their way back through the aisles. The Faunus girl shook her head to clear it and muttered an apology.
  154.
  155. When at last the librarian's desk at the front of the room was visible, Yang tilted her head curiously. It was darker now, as the main lights over the area had been shut off, leaving only a few small lights lining the sides of the walls to allow them to see by.
  156.
  157. And the main desk seemed… empty.
  158.
  159. "Hey, I don't see her," Yang commented. "Where'd she-?"
  160.
  161. But she was cut off by a foreboding sound, and the two of them came to a dead stop. It was the sound they'd heard in a thousand horror movies before, only now it was all too real.
  162.
  163. The locking of a door.
  164.
  165. Yang let out a long breath.
  166.
  167. "Oh, shit…"
  168.
  169. 'Oh, shit' was right. Blake was convinced that if she held onto that heavy sense of dreadful denial, this would all melt away quickly and the librarian would pop up from behind her desk and shout "surprise, just kidding!"
  170.
  171. The dark-haired girl stood rooted to the ground, waiting for something like that to happen. But it never did.
  172.
  173. "Oh no…" she whispered thinly. "No way is this happening."
  174.
  175. Without wasting another second, she dragged Yang forward to the doors and rattled the knobs. Beacon's guards closed and locked the doors from the outsides at night, and only the confidential codes on their scrolls could unlock them again.
  176.
  177. And those doors sure as hell weren't budging now.
  178.
  179. "No…" Blake's ears went flat beneath her bow. "This isn't happening. Yang, tell me this isn't happening..."
  180.
  181. "Easy there, partner," Yang said, swinging her girlfriend's hand back and forth gently. "I guess the librarian thought we'd left or something, and so she decided to just lock up for the night. At least some of the lights are still on so I can see, and you've got your Faunus vision!"
  182.
  183. She was listing all of these things off as if they were great items and abilities to start a journey in a video game, as if she were going to gladly accept the situation they'd found themselves in.
  184.
  185. The blonde continued in a carefree voice that almost had Blake cringing.
  186.
  187. "You're sounding more like Weiss would in this situation," Yang drawled. "I think it's awesome! I mean, getting locked in the library at night alone together without our scrolls to call for help, teammates asleep and unable to look for us? And on a school night, when we'll have to avoid being found out by the staff in the morning and somehow get back to the room and get ready for class? Why didn't we think of trying this sooner?"
  188.
  189. Blake groaned aloud and smacked the book in her hand to her face.
  190.
  191. That's right. Her partner was a thrill-seeker, so this situation must've been a welcomed high for Yang, one she was accepting with open arms.
  192.
  193. All Blake had wanted to do tonight was grab the book, get back to the room, read just the first few pages or so, and then when she was satisfied, go to bed.
  194.
  195. And now, here she was, locked in the library with her partner, and they were already out of options of how to get out. The windows were sealed, and forcing any of them or the door would set alarms off instantly.
  196.
  197. There was an emergency call button, but Blake tossed the thought of using that away almost instantly; if the teachers found out they were here together at night, they'd only think of mischief, not an unfortunate accident. No one would ever believe them, and they'd get punished for certain.
  198.
  199. The tiniest act of mercy was probably that the library had yet to have its new security cameras installed, so there would be no way for them to get apprehended with proof of their accidental crime, so long as they were very, very mindful.
  200.
  201. But for now, there weren't many other options than to do what Yang said; stay the night and try to evade the staff in the morning.
  202.
  203. The bottom line was to not get caught no matter what.
  204.
  205. With her own semblance and Yang's uncanny ability to charm her way out of most situations, Blake was beginning to think it just might be possible.
  206.
  207. But for now she sighed, feeling like she'd done a lot of that within the past hour alone.
  208.
  209. "Great. Just… great…"
  210.
  211. "Yup!" Yang agreed cheerily. "I think it's pretty great! A bit of a mix-up for things, something branching off from the norm. And hey, it's pretty cool, too! I mean we've got the whole place to ourselves!" She released Blake's hand and spun around, presenting the large, open room to her girlfriend like a game show hostess.
  212.
  213. "We even got the nice warm, cozy couches where people usually lounge, so we can sleep on those! This won't be so bad! Hardest part will be waking up before the staff comes in and avoiding being seen. Maybe we could take turns keeping watch?" She thought aloud for a few minutes before shaking her head. "Ah, whatever. We can think about that later. But for now we should explore!" she declared.
  214.
  215. "Explore?" Blake parroted her in disbelief. "Yang, this isn't some kind of children's educational television program. And besides - it's the library. Even you've been here at least five times. What's there to explore?"
  216.
  217. It was meant to be a rhetorical question, but she could see Yang was about to answer anyway, so Blake quickly continued speaking.
  218.
  219. "Yang, we should just get some rest until morning so this whole thing can blow over. There's not going to be anything new in the library just because it's dark, you know. Let's just go to the couches and sleep, okay?" She hoped such a simple plea would be enough to convince her girlfriend.
  220.
  221. Blake tried to direct the blonde toward the couches and pulled on her wrist, but Yang kept herself rooted to the carpet.
  222.
  223. "Alright then," Yang shrugged. "You go rest and stuff. I'll explore by myself."
  224.
  225. She knew it was a bit of a mean card to play, but she only played it because she knew it would work.
  226.
  227. Blake's ears went flat beneath her bow, and she stopped trying to lead her partner away for a moment. She turned back to Yang, narrowing her eyes in the dim lighting.
  228.
  229. "No way am I letting you-" And it was then she realized she'd fallen perfectly into Yang's little trap. Blake rolled her head back and groaned. "Fine. I'll come with you. But we've got ten minutes tops before we circle back to the lounge area and get to bed. It's already past midnight and we are going to classes tomorrow."
  230.
  231. She relinquished her hold on Yang's wrist, and walked back to her slowly.
  232.
  233. The second Blake caved, Yang had to stop herself from letting out a small cheer; she knew if she was that conceited about it, then her cranky girlfriend would stomp off toward the couches and tell her to go to hell.
  234.
  235. If they were going to spend the night locked in the library together, they at least needed to be… not too high up on each other's nerves.
  236.
  237. "Great! I knew I could count on my trusty partner! Buuut~" Yang reached forward to snatch Blake's book from her hand. "Wouldn't wanna lose this along the way, right? Not after all we've gone through to get it."
  238.
  239. Blake was about to protest, but held back, realizing Yang was right; they'd already gone through far too much trouble for that book.
  240.
  241. She watched Yang saunter over to one of the small coffee tables beside the couches and place the book down before she headed back to Blake.
  242.
  243. Yang found the girl's now-freed hand and scooped it up into hers, grinning all the while.
  244.
  245. "Allllrighty, then! Let's go explore this place!"
  246.
  247. Yang started leading them through the library, taking them down every aisle Blake already knew by heart. She assumed the blonde just wanted to walk the perimeter of the library, or perhaps down a few rows.
  248.
  249. But no.
  250.
  251. Yang Xiao Long felt the need to walk them up and down-
  252.
  253. Every.
  254.
  255. Single.
  256.
  257. Aisle.
  258.
  259. Blake's feet were dragging by the time they were only halfway through, and she spoke up to try and put a stop to it all.
  260.
  261. "Yang, is it really necessary to walk every row? Each one isn't very different from the last. Are you expecting something to happen and you think only one of these four dozen aisles is the magic one, or…?"
  262.
  263. Yang pondered the question for a moment.
  264.
  265. "Hmm… not really. But then again, maybe? Who knows!"
  266.
  267. A groan from her girlfriend told her that Blake wasn't satisfied with the ambiguous answer.
  268.
  269. But Yang continued on in her carefree manner, strutting down the aisles, occasionally fixing a fallen book or tilting her head back to look at the ceiling. Whenever they passed one of the windows, they stepped into a pool of moonlight that dyed the carpets and shelves silver.
  270.
  271. "I just think it's cool, y'know?" Yang babbled. "We've got this place to ourselves, so we might as well enjoy it, yeah? And there's just enough light to see by so it's not that bad. Not to mention my nocturnal partner's rad supervision." She grinned and nudged Blake playfully. "But if you're gettin' tired, I guess we can call it a night and head back to the couches."
  272.
  273. The compliment about her vision was a strange one, but Blake accepted it with a smile in spite of the rest of the situation.
  274.
  275. They stepped into a swath of light given off by the moon, and as Blake looked up to her girlfriend, she noticed Yang's deep golden hair had taken on a paler glow. It was more subdued, and it made her appear almost ghostlike, angelic. There was something about the shadows around Yang that gave her an otherworldly look. Blake almost feared she'd blink and Yang would be gone in a wisp of air.
  276.
  277. "Yeah…" she mumbled absently, not aware that she was staring. "Okay, maybe we should-"
  278.
  279. But she cut off abruptly at the foreboding sound of movement, though Yang and herself had come to a stop.
  280.
  281. Blake quickly reached up to remove her bow, stuffing the ribbon into her blazer's pocket. Her ears flicked and swiveled toward the source of the sound - the entrance of the room. The two of them were a good distance away from the main doors, but with the library so quiet now, any sounds could easily have echoed.
  282.
  283. Her golden eyes flashed nervously to Yang, ears going flat as she bit her lip.
  284.
  285. Yang had been getting lost in Blake's misting gaze when the hand in hers tightened suddenly. Her partner's golden pools went wide like full moons, and her ears stood tall instantly. Whatever mood had been building between them was swiftly broken within the course of two seconds.
  286.
  287. It was clear there'd been a noise, and Yang just acted on instinct. She tugged Blake's hand and pulled her to the side, out of the shaft of moonlight and into the shadows. She squished Blake into the corner made by the end of a shelf and the wall, covering her with her own body.
  288.
  289. Blake felt the wall against her back, but managed to hold back the sound of surprise that was prickling in her throat. Her ears went up again as she tried to pinpoint the source of the sound, hoping it'd vanished.
  290.
  291. But with her luck, the other person seemed to be staying. She could hear footsteps patrolling near the lounge area, where she and Yang had intended to sleep that night.
  292.
  293. Maybe it was a good thing they'd taken a walk around the place after all.
  294.
  295. Yang kept her voice low as she ducked her face into Blake's neck, stifling the sounds of her words.
  296.
  297. "What's going on?" she breathed.
  298.
  299. Blake kept her reply thin and low, something her voice had taken a natural turn toward after years of hiding in the shadows. The only somewhat more pleasant difference now was the fact that she had a girlfriend to hide with her, and she was thankful Yang was feeling nervous about all of this; if not, the other girl would have purposefully given them away already like a crook surrendering to the police.
  300.
  301. "It's a guard," Blake muttered. Even from here she could see the bright beam of a flashlight circling around. "I mean, we could just go to him now and explain the whole situation o-or…"
  302.
  303. Flustered, she trailed off, her mind swirling with too many different things.
  304.
  305. /A guard. Well shit.../ Yang thought. She groaned softly. "Why the hell is there a guard here? Ugh, damn it…"
  306.
  307. She assumed he would only be in the library for a short while before heading off to his next destination. Either way, if they somehow managed to get out of this unnoticed, they'd need to be a lot more careful in the future hours of the night.
  308.
  309. She knew what Blake was thinking, contemplating whether or not they should reveal themselves and risk the week of detention now, or wait and see if they got caught and receive the two week's punishment afterward.
  310.
  311. But Yang knew her answer.
  312.
  313. Sneaking around on forbidden territory in the middle of the night, avoiding guards and trying to make this questionable endeavor work in their favor against all odds?
  314.
  315. This was a thrill she couldn't pass up.
  316.
  317. She didn't move, just kept Blake against the wall, her face buried in her partner's shoulder to stifle her voice and breath. She could feel Blake tensing, and even with her human hearing, Yang could make out the sounds of approaching footsteps.
  318.
  319. "Just don't move…" she muttered, trying to ignore the part of herself that longed to do just that.
  320.
  321. /'Just don't move', she says.../ Blake thought.
  322.
  323. Yeah. Easier said than done when your girlfriend had you pinned against the wall so hard she was crushing the breath from your lungs.
  324.
  325. But the shaft of moonlight was only inches away from them, and she knew Yang was trying to avoid it entirely, thus the forced proximity.
  326.
  327. Blake sucked in a weak breath as she closed her eyes, focusing primarily on her hearing. The footsteps padded casually around the large library, and she tracked the motions, making a mental map and trying to discern exactly where the guard was in regards to hers and Yang's location.
  328.
  329. It was several painstaking minutes of having her back shoved against a cold, hard wall before Blake realized the guard was starting to move away.
  330.
  331. She meant to let out a sigh, but with Yang pressing her like she was, it came out as more of a gasp - something louder than it was supposed to be.
  332.
  333. Her heart started to pound when she heard the footsteps take a sharp turn, moving a little quicker now toward them. Blake recoiled as much as she could and clung tighter to Yang, breathing unsteadily against her neck.
  334.
  335. Yang heard the shift in footsteps just as clearly as her partner did, and the blonde sucked in a low breath.
  336.
  337. /Shit./
  338.
  339. Despite her declarations to love the thrills in life, Yang was suddenly having second thoughts. If they were discovered like this… yeah, surely that'd give off the wrong impression, and that could be bad.
  340.
  341. She felt Blake's heart thumping harder, and the brawler tried to take some of the pressure off of her girlfriend. But Blake's breath was getting desperate now, and Yang knew it wouldn't be long before it started getting too loud.
  342.
  343. At this point, she was literally crushing her partner against the wall, and the pressure only increased when the guard's footsteps drew nearer. Blake thought she might pass out.
  344.
  345. The clicking footsteps getting louder left Yang with only one option.
  346.
  347. She slid one hand up Blake's body and to the side of her neck, nudging the Faunus girl's face with her nose and turning into her. Yang silenced her girlfriend's nervous little sounds with her lips, holding it…
  348.
  349. The rough kiss pulled Blake immediately back to the moment. Yang shoved their lips together, swallowing her voice and breath to keep her quiet. The only mercy of it all was that the blonde had gone so far as to squeeze a palm between Blake's head and the wall, giving her a very slight cushioning to spare her a headache or possibly a concussion.
  350.
  351. It wasn't long before her lungs were on fire - begging for air. They both knew that Yang could hold out much longer than she could, and Blake really did fear she'd lose consciousness this time.
  352.
  353. But her ears flicked against the wall as she realized the footsteps had started to pad away again, albeit with agonizing slowness.
  354.
  355. /Could you walk a little faster, please?!/
  356.
  357. Yang heard it too, the footsteps starting to walk away again, and once she was sure they were out of immediate danger, she focused on Blake again.
  358.
  359. The poor girl was shaking in her arms in an effort to hold her breath longer, but Yang couldn't afford to break the kiss just yet, and something told her Blake realized this as well.
  360.
  361. So they waited - agonizing, silent, breathless moments.
  362.
  363. And yet, Yang had to admit it was the tiniest bit a turn-on; the risk, the kiss, Blake - everything.
  364.
  365. It seemed like a year had gone by before Blake heard the sound of the door opening and closing again, and complete silence ensued once the footsteps vanished.
  366.
  367. Yang eased herself back, releasing Blake from the kiss as the Faunus girl slumped - gasping- into her arms.
  368.
  369. "Sorry 'bout that," the blonde murmured, nuzzling Blake's hair. "All things considered, you did good, Blakey!"
  370.
  371. There wasn't much else Blake could do other than collapse into her partner's chest and gulp to get back all the air Yang had stolen from her. With the pressure of the wall gone, the throbbing ache in her back finally started to slow and fade away.
  372.
  373. Her ears kept flicking to try and pick up whether or not the footsteps were really gone for good - with all the noise she was making now, she wouldn't be surprised if the guard came back.
  374.
  375. But they were really alone again, and Blake would've loved to scold Yang, but she was still a bit too breathless for that at the moment.
  376.
  377. She settled for digging her nails into Yang's back disapprovingly, a silent chastise as she closed her eyes and concentrated on breathing.
  378.
  379. Yang felt Blake panting against her, and she knew she was at fault for her girlfriend's current discomfort. The nails digging through her blazer said enough, and Yang winced.
  380.
  381. "Ahhh, I get it. I'm sorry, okay? Easy now…" She smoothed Blake's hair out, rubbing her back gently and dusting off her uniform, serving to remind Yang that they'd be sleeping in these clothes tonight and keeping them on until tomorrow. She groaned a bit to herself in just thinking about how badly tomorrow was going to suck.
  382.
  383. Despite everything, as Blake regained her breathe, she couldn't stop the next exhale from being a bit of a chuckle.
  384.
  385. "Haa…"
  386.
  387. When Yang heard Blake's little wheeze of a laugh, she patted the girl's back and cleared her throat.
  388.
  389. "What's so funny?"
  390.
  391. Blake finally lifted her head and pulled back a step, golden eyes gleaming amusedly in the moonlight as she found Yang's lavender pools. She released her grip on her girlfriend and finally managed to stand on her own.
  392.
  393. "Nothing much," she commented. "It's just… kind of strange because…" She paused again, but Yang's curious eyes encouraged her to go on. "It's strange because… that's almost exactly what happened in the book I was reading. The two of them were locked in a room trying to avoid being caught and well they-"
  394.
  395. She trailed off, letting the experience finish the story.
  396.
  397. It clicked for Yang instantly, and a wide smirk grew across her lips.
  398.
  399. "Oh-hoo~ I see." She pulled Blake into a soft hug and chuckled, rubbing her ruffled ears a bit to smooth out the fur. She heard Blake grunt and knew her girlfriend was blushing where Yang had her against her chest. Yang smooched her between the ears before letting her go again.
  400.
  401. She glanced across the room, squinting at the clock to find it was now long after midnight. And yet she wasn't even tired at this point, and something told her Blake would be willing to stay awake a bit longer as well. So long as Yang made it worth her while.
  402.
  403. She'd do her best.
  404.
  405. "So then…" she hummed. "I'm guessing that's what happened in the last book you read, huh? Then I gotta wonder…" Her lavender eyes sparked suggestively as she met gold. "What happens in that next book you picked out? Should we… read and find out, or just give it our own personal interpretation?"
  406.
  407. Cuddle up on one of the couches and read in the dark with Blake, or act things out with her for real; she was up for either option.
  408.
  409. Blake's eyes flicked back toward the lounge area, where they'd left the next book in the series on the little table beside the couches. She was silent for a moment as she considered Yang's question, but after all they'd just been through-
  410.
  411. Hell, she was too awake to sit down now.
  412.
  413. Therefore, Blake found the girl's lavender eyes once more and rolled her own before giving a smirk, silent indications that she'd chosen the latter option.
  414.
  415. The eager sparkle in Yang's gaze made her chuckle.
  416.
  417. "Let's start here," Blake whispered.
  418.
  419. She took a step forward, and Yang took one back, and the process continued until the blonde's back bumped a bookshelf and she could go no further. Blake blinked slowly, irises nothing but slits in the moonlight as she pressed herself against her partner.
  420.
  421. "Consider this our reward for getting out of that ridiculous, dramatic movie-like scene just now."
  422.
  423. The second she saw that mischief in Blake's eyes, Yang felt her stomach bubble with excitement. But nothing could compete with the feeling of Blake guiding her until she was pinned against the bookshelf, bodies pressing close and lips even closer.
  424.
  425. Blake slid her hands up Yang's arms until she encircled the girl's neck and shoulders. She tilted her chin upward just a bit and took one last breath before stealing Yang's.
  426.
  427. Yang slipped her arms around the small of the Faunus girl's back, fingers curling idly against her blazer. She hummed in delight, parting her lips a little to let Blake in.
  428.
  429. They were both tired so it was fairly sloppy, but the initially-hectic night was now presenting them with an offer that was nearly impossible to refuse.
  430.
  431. Locked in a library alone at night: it'd be wrong not to have a little fun.
  432.
  433. One of Yang's hands made its way up into Blake's hair, and her fingers combed through the thick waves all down her partner's back.
  434.
  435. The longer the kiss was held, the more breathless they become, and the more difficult it was to pull away. It was so satisfying, this heat, and neither wanted to withdraw from it, even when they started to feel slightly dizzy.
  436.
  437. In the end, it was Yang who needed to give a light push to Blake's shoulder to break it. Gulping in air was necessary, and it felt good, but not as good as Blake's lips had felt.
  438.
  439. Yang needed to rest her forehead against the other girl's as she regained some air.
  440.
  441. "Wow…" she panted. "I like this interpretation. Hope the book turns out to be half as good."
  442.
  443. "I don't think… that's possible…" Blake murmured. She might've gone a little overboard with the kiss, as she needed to cling to Yang's neck and shoulders to keep herself on her feet as she regained her breath. A small rush of lightheadedness overcame her, and she closed her eyes, resting her head against the blonde's shoulder.
  444.
  445. Yang was breathless as well, and Blake smirked a little at that. She felt her girlfriend's hands stroking through her hair, and Blake could feel the beginnings of a purr rising up in her throat. She couldn't fight it off, especially not when one of those hands went to her ears to scratch.
  446.
  447. "Yang…" she sighed.
  448.
  449. Now she was getting conflicted, leaning toward the need to sleep one second and the need for more of what they'd just done the next.
  450.
  451. But it wasn't her turn to decide.
  452.
  453. Yang hummed, rubbing her hands up and down Blake's back and over her ears. She could feel the Faunus girl's chest prickling with a purr, and for a moment, Yang was about to consider indulging them both with a bit of rest after all.
  454.
  455. But they had all night for that.
  456.
  457. "Ah-ah-ah~" Yang tutted into her ear. "Not yet, kitten. Don't fall asleep on me yet, Blakey. I've gotta at least counterattack, right? That's only fair."
  458.
  459. She kept hold of her partner as she guided them both back a few steps, then turned to lead Blake out of the aisles of bookshelves. What she had in mind next required a change of scenery.
  460.
  461. She brought them to a spacious area where study tables were lined next to one another. There was confusion in Blake's eyes, but Yang pressed a finger to the girl's lips to silence her before she could ask questions.
  462.
  463. "Just trust me~" she winked.
  464.
  465. In one swift motion, she pulled Blake back toward her, swallowing her lips in a fiery kiss. The Faunus girl's purr was replaced by a growl, but it wasn't one that suggested anything of negative connotations. Yang could feel the smirk of her girlfriend's lips just as clearly as she could feel her own.
  466.
  467. Blake was puzzled, but not nearly enough to be breaking such an intense kiss to ask questions. She gladly complied to Yang's antics, sliding her palms over the blonde's sides to then spread out on her shoulder blades.
  468.
  469. Yang cupped her cheeks, pulling her in closer, and Blake responded in her own way, digging her nails into her girlfriend's back, both for support and for some other reasons. Her jaw moved in time with Yang's, breathless gulps for air sneaking between the kisses on occasion.
  470.
  471. Yang had one hand tangled in her hair, and the other at her back, letting Blake get as close or pull back as much as she needed to.
  472.
  473. They didn't break the kiss entirely, even when Blake felt her partner stepping slowly forward. She followed the cues and took a few steps back, until she felt her lower back bump lightly against the edge of one of the tables.
  474.
  475. Yang broke the kiss briefly then, allowing them both some much-needed air, but only for the moment. Her arms had Blake trapped against the table, so the Faunus girl wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's shoulders and pet through her hair softly, letting out another short purr. She couldn't deny she was eager to continue.
  476.
  477. "This is certainly something new," she mumbled. "But that doesn't mean I'm not willing to try it out."
  478.
  479. Yang smirked as she finally got her breath back, her eyes half-lidded and voice husky as she whispered into Blake's ear, "Good to know, cause I've always wanted to try it out on ya~"
  480.
  481. And yet, despite Blake's slitted eyes and willing smirk, Yang couldn't keep up the seductive persona for an entire minute without breaking. She blinked her eyes open all the way and her voice returned to normal.
  482.
  483. "But just make sure ya let me know if it hurts or somethin', 'kay?"
  484.
  485. Blake didn't know if she should laugh or groan at how quickly Yang had broken character. But ultimately, she settled for neither, just a small roll of the eyes as she snaked her arms around the nape of the blonde's neck, kneading fingers through her thick hair.
  486.
  487. Truth be told, she was very touched by Yang's concern for her, for her girlfriend's main priority to be Blake's comfort in all of this. They were trapped in the school library on a school night, for crying out loud. Comfort wasn't exactly at the top of Blake's list.
  488.
  489. But that just went to show just how considerate Yang was.
  490.
  491. "I'll be fine, Yang," she chuckled softly.
  492.
  493. She pulled the blonde girl closer, allowing herself to lean back slightly, the small of her back pressing a bit more against the table as her long, onyx hair spilled out behind her, the ends brushing the surface of the wood.
  494.
  495. Yang caught on quickly, realizing Blake wanted to continue with things; they'd already gotten this far, after all.
  496.
  497. Her hands held onto the Faunus girl's back, cradling her carefully as she slowly laid Blake down onto the table, leaving her legs dangling over the edge, her feet slightly off the floor.
  498.
  499. Yang slid a knee between the girl's legs just so she could get as close to her as possible, hovering over her partner with one hand on either side of her body. Her blonde hair provided a curtain of sorts on both sides of her face, creating a direct line of sight that led to a flawless destination.
  500.
  501. She took a moment to simply admire Blake in the moonlight, golden eyes gleaming and patient, dark hair fanning out around her like a pool of shadows.
  502.
  503. Yang eased herself down on top of the girl, keeping her weight braced on her elbows and on the floor, and she brushed her nose against Blake's softly with a chuckle. Their stomachs pressed together, the closeness of their chests making it a bit of a workout to breathe, but they both welcomed it.
  504.
  505. "You're so goddamn gorgeous," the blonde mumbled, ducking her head into the side of Blake's neck. She nosed the collar of her uniform away and kissed her there, her hands rubbing slowly up and down her girlfriend's sides and upper arms, one slipping behind Blake's head to cushion it against the table.
  506.
  507. The Faunus girl's hands were roaming all down her back and through her hair, and Yang could feel the girl's heart pounding just inches away from her own.
  508.
  509. It was a nice feeling. Everything in this moment was.
  510.
  511. Blake sighed happily as Yang closed the distance between them. The heating system in the room wasn't exactly in use at this hour of night - or possibly morning - but with Yang there, that wasn't much of an issue. She loved the pressure of Yang's body against her own, just enough to be a pleasant weight but not nearly enough to cause discomfort.
  512.
  513. The table beneath her kept her stable, giving her the support she needed to hold onto Yang, though she was grateful for the hand behind her head. Her ears flicked as she exhaled another sigh, closing her eyes and enjoying the kisses trailing up the side of her neck.
  514.
  515. Her hands reached up to find the red ribbon of Yang's uniform at her neck and untie it. She then undid the top two buttons of Yang's blazer, just to make it easier for the blonde to breathe.
  516.
  517. Her girlfriend returned the favor and freed Blake's top button, letting cool air meet her collar. Yang shifted a bit and placed a kiss there, leaving a lingering warmth behind.
  518.
  519. Blake gave a gravelly purr and reached for blonde locks, tucking them behind her partner's ears. She felt Yang's kisses traveling northbound to the side of her jaw, and Blake took a breath, knowing she'd need all the air she could get.
  520.
  521. Yang enjoyed the feelings of Blake playing with her hair for a moment; if the Faunus girl's guilty pleasure was that she loved getting her ears touched, then Yang's secret was that she was a sucker for hair petting.
  522.
  523. To show her gratitude, she traced a path of soft kisses to the underside of Blake's chin and then moved up to her cheeks. She pulled back briefly to catch her breath, feeling that Blake needed to do the same. Yang took the moment to glide the backs of her free hand's fingers through her girlfriend's bangs, clearing away a small veil of sweat as she did so.
  524.
  525. She pressed a quick kiss to Blake's forehead and saw the anticipation in those golden eyes; who was Yang to keep a lady waiting?
  526.
  527. Blake closed her eyes expectantly, and Yang leaned downward, pressing their lips together once more. Her free hand ghosted over Blake's side, down her arm to find her hand, flipping it over and bringing it up beside her partner's head. Yang pressed their palms together, entwining their fingers and squeezing at Blake's knuckles gently as she moved her mouth against hers.
  528.
  529. She always lost track of time when she was kissing Blake, because quite frankly, nothing else in the universe mattered. Only that warmth, that flutter of their shared heartbeats, those profound emotions swirling within their chests.
  530.
  531. It must've been a few moments before she felt Blake squeezing her hand, the indication that they needed to pause for now. The blonde willingly pulled away, though letting her lips linger for a second, gasping a bit as she finally got some air.
  532.
  533. Blake was flushed and panting too, and Yang did her best to hug her girlfriend from this position. She rested her head sideways over Blake's heaving chest, easily able to hear the rapid thumping of her pulse.
  534.
  535. "You okay, Blakey?" she checked. "Your heart's goin' crazy."
  536.
  537. 'Okay' was an understatement at best. She did blame Yang for her rapid heartbeat, but Blake had better things to focus on.
  538.
  539. Much better things.
  540.
  541. They'd been dating for months now, and never before had Blake experienced such a rush of passion and love.
  542.
  543. Perhaps it was because there was no risk of being seen by teammates or other students here. Or maybe it was because it was late a night, and there was something about the darkness that opened her mind and soul.
  544.
  545. It was probably a combination of both, compounded with the fact that she didn't have to think about anything else other than Yang.
  546.
  547. Blake took a moment to catch her breath, hugging her partner tightly.
  548.
  549. "I'm fine…" she panted. "More than fine. God, I love you." She kissed the top of the blonde's head, and Yang chuckled, nuzzling closer.
  550.
  551. Yang listened to that steady rhythm beneath her ear, rubbing Blake's side gently until her partner's heartbeat started to slow.
  552.
  553. For a moment, Blake was still, relishing Yang's closeness, enjoying the press of their bodies together. The Faunus girl's blood was pounding in her veins, ignited by a fire her girlfriend had lit.
  554.
  555. Blake sighed and closed her eyes as she regained her breath.
  556.
  557. It was a few more minutes before she recovered, intent to make Yang feel what she'd just experienced.
  558.
  559. Bracing her elbows against the table, Blake pushed herself up, keeping her grip on Yang as she slowly flipped them over, reversing their positions as she laid Yang down on the table now, slipping a leg against her skirt.
  560.
  561. As Yang felt what was happening, her lips curved upward into a bit of an eager smirk.
  562.
  563. Blake moved slowly, slipping a hand down to cradle the back of Yang's head against the wood. When she was certain Yang was lying fully against the table, she pulled back, straightening her arms as she hovered over the blonde. Blake smirked.
  564.
  565. "Your turn."
  566.
  567. Yang stared excitedly up at the Faunus girl.
  568.
  569. "Gosh, Blakey…" she mumbled.
  570.
  571. She was absolutely captivated by her girlfriend.
  572.
  573. Blake was above her now, gazing lovingly down into her eyes as Yang lost herself in shimmering gold. The darkness shrouding the library only made the girl's eyes seem even brighter, the faint beams of moonlight highlighting her onyx hair with outlines of silver.
  574.
  575. Yang felt her heart jump, swelling with affection for this girl. She was unable to resist the urge to reach up and wrap Blake in a hug, coaxing her down so she could feel her close again.
  576.
  577. Blake went willingly, resting on top of Yang's chest. She nuzzled into her neck for a moment, kissing Yang's chest where the opened buttons so kindly exposed her skin. She felt the little vibrations in Yang's throat as her girlfriend hummed, and Blake returned it with a purr.
  578.
  579. Just as her partner had done for her, Blake kissed up the side of Yang's neck, slipping a hand beneath her neck, curling her fingers into golden locks. She teased, kissing Yang's cheeks and her temples, along her hairline and the bridge of her nose, everywhere on her face but her lips.
  580.
  581. It was when she nipped the girl's earlobe softly when Yang squirmed beneath her and Blake chuckled, taking pity on her. She returned to Yang's lips and slipped her tongue along them, her free hand cupping her girlfriend's cheek.
  582.
  583. She held the contact for a moment, continuing to purr, wanting leave Yang just as wonderfully breathless as she'd left Blake.
  584.
  585. When she finally pulled away, she knew she'd accomplished that feat, unable to keep the smirk off her face as she listened to Yang's hyperactive pulse.
  586.
  587. Yang gasped as soon as she was able to.
  588.
  589. "Woo-wee!" she panted. "Hot damn, Blakey. You're too good…"
  590.
  591. Blake knew she was a thrill-seeker, and being held to a table and kissed until she was giddy had certainly given her a rush.
  592.
  593. Yang thanked her partner by reaching up to scratch her ears and rub her back, loving how close and full Blake's purr was against her chest. It tickled a bit, and Yang chuckled, slipping a hand in between their bodies to rub at Blake's chest where the purr was strongest. Her girlfriend sighed, and Yang knew they were both spent now.
  594.
  595. Slowly, she pushed herself up, sitting on the edge of the table with Blake on her knee, hugging her close. Yang nuzzled affectionately into her neck.
  596.
  597. "Maybe we should get locked in here more often," she sighed blissfully.
  598.
  599. "A tempting idea, but no thanks," Blake mumbled.
  600.
  601. Balanced on Yang's lap, she hugged her girlfriend's waist and squeezed a bit, tucking her head beneath the other girl's chin.
  602.
  603. They were still for a moment, and Blake reflected on the events of the long night leading up to this. Getting trapped in here, exploring the aisles of bookshelves, nearly getting discovered…
  604.
  605. All she'd wanted to do was get the next volume of her book and go back to bed.
  606.
  607. She cast a glance back to the couches in the lounge area, gaze settling on the coffee table where she'd left her book. Blake chuckled to herself again, kissing Yang's neck once more.
  608.
  609. "Well, I really like our interpretation of the ending," she commented.
  610.
  611. "Heh. I like it, too," Yang agreed. "I mean I really like it." She kissed Blake's forehead and then between her ears.
  612.
  613. The moon had shifted into a totally different position in the sky by now, the beams it cast shifting to other parts of the library. Yang failed to fend off a yawn, and her jaws parted wide before clamping closed again.
  614.
  615. "I think it's time we head to bed," she decided.
  616.
  617. Keeping one arm around Blake's shoulders, she hooked the other beneath her girlfriend's knees and lifted her into her arms. Blake made a small sound of surprise, her hands instinctively curling onto her chest. Yang leaned down and touched their foreheads together.
  618.
  619. "I got'cha! Don't worry."
  620.
  621. She brought them over to the couch that faced away from the doors, so that the back would block them from view should anyone pass by the halls before they awoke. Yang kicked her slippers off and sat down on the cushions, cradling Blake in her lap before lying down slowly, keeping her partner on top of her.
  622.
  623. "Guuuh, now I'm feelin' tired," she moaned, hands running up and down Blake's back, through her wavy hair, her eyes closing as she let out another sigh.
  624.
  625. Blake enjoyed the short ride to the couch and then stretched out over her partner's stomach once they'd settled.
  626.
  627. "Yeah…" she mumbled, voice drawling. "We should sleep now…"
  628.
  629. After everything they'd been through, it was certainly an enticing prospect.
  630.
  631. She slid up just as Yang's eyelids closed, and Blake pressed one last kiss to her lips before laying her head over the girl's chest. The hands at her back stopped moving before long, and Yang's body relaxed entirely beneath hers.
  632.
  633. Blake's keen ears didn't miss the mumble of "Love ya…" and the Faunus girl returned the phrase.
  634.
  635. She listened as her partner's pulse finally slowed, her breathing deepening. Blake snuggled closer, knowing the morning would be a hectic escape back to their room, and the following classes a dragging hell.
  636.
  637. But for now, she drifted off comfortably, and without at care in the world.
  638.
  639. ----------------------------------
  640.
  641. When morning came, bright sunlight roused them both, a sense of urgency thick in the air as they instantly went on high alert.
  642.
  643. They untangled themselves and sat up, buttoning their blazers and smoothing out their skirts as they slid back into their slippers.
  644.
  645. Blake returned her book to its shelf, and the two of them hid behind the bookshelves as they waited.
  646.
  647. Not long afterward, the librarian appeared at the door, unlocked it, and left it wide open as she headed into her office. The two girls checked that no one else was present before hurrying out into the hallway at long last.
  648.
  649. Yang let out a triumphant laugh as they rushed to their dorm room, kissing Blake one last time before they typed in the code and slipped inside to begin explaining things to Ruby and Weiss.
  650.
  651. It'd been one hell of a night, but one they'd surely never forget.
  652.

  654.
  655. A/N: Ahh I hope you enjoyed! I know the flow was a bit messy at times since it was originally an RP, but I hope it was bearable!
