  3. Q: What is this game?
  4. A: This game is called Pokémon CrystalDust, it is a rom hack of Pokémon Crystal with Gen 3 mechanics (Emerald base) created by Sierraffinity.

  6. Q: Is this on emulator?
  7. A: Yep, playing on mGBA

  9. Q: Cyndaquil+?
  10. A: I'll be using Cyndaquil as my main Pokémon!

  12. Q: What is WR?
  13. A: 2:43:38 (I ran this last way back in early 2020). The Totodile WR is 2:20:41 by me as well.

  15. Q: This looks pretty fast for getting through Johto and Kanto!
  16. A: This version of this hack is only complete to the end of the Elite 4 (Lance). A later version is in the works, which will include Kanto, and is likely to be released in 2022. Sierra streams development of the latest version over on https://twitch.tv/DoMoreAwesome on Sunday evenings so please check it out and give her some support!

  18. Q: What other Pokémon will you be using?
  19. A: I will catch a Sentret on Route 29 for Cut and Surf, catch a Poliwag on Route 44 for Whirlpool and Waterfall, and pick up the free Spearow (Kenya) for Fly. Strength will go on Quilava.

  21. Q: Is this faster than Totodile?
  22. A: I don't think so. Cyndaquil has a slower start since Tackle is weaker than Scratch and can miss, and Cyndaquil has worse Attack. Cyndaquil also struggles more with Whitney, Chuck, Clair, and Lance, which loses a fair amount of time

  24. Q: Are there any manipulations?
  25. A: Yes, just the one, with a recent extension. I manipulate Cyndaquil at the start. Since this game is based on Emerald, the manips operate the same as in Emerald. Hence, every time you save and hard reset in front of the Cyndaquil ball and select it on the same frame, you'll get the same one. I will usually take three tries max at the manip.

  27. Q: What are Cyndaquil's IVs? Same as Toto?
  28. A: This is not the 1026 frame - Cyndaquil has a Docile nature (neutral) with 24 HP, 31 Atk, 6 Def, 31 SpA, 23 SpD and 14 Spe. The reason I run this Cyndaquil instead is because of its Hidden Power - 69 Power, Electric. This helps with Chuck, the Red Gyarados, and a lot of the other midgame fights.

  30. Q: Could you do more manipulations?
  31. A: Could do an extended manip after getting Cyndaquil (like we do with Toto) and a Sentret manip, but it's a lot of work to figure these out for a meme alt main category for a rom hack lol.

  33. Q: I see you're forced to release the beasts. Why don't you manip one of them, like Raikou?
  34. A: Thanks to CasualPokePlayer, we found out that the beasts aren't actually released at all, it's just a cutscene and you cannot catch them in this game. This might be fixed in the next version though (TBD).

  36. Q: How much slower do you think Cyndaquil is than Totodile?
  37. A: I'm gonna say roughly 7-8 mins slower, though I won't know for sure until I've done some runs and ironed out the kinks in the route.

  39. Q: What is your goal time?
  40. A: Sub-2:30.
