- Leykis 101 refers to a set of guidelines for men on dating and relationships popularized by radio personality Tom Leykis. While most of what Tom said was for shock value to drive ratings, there was some merit in his adivce. Keep in mind that these radio shows aired roughly 15-20 years ago and that the dating landscape is VERY different today.

- 1. NEVER, EVER date a single mother.
- Single mothers have already demonstrated that they do not use or are not diligent with birth control. Also, understand that you will always be second to her child.
- 2. Never do what you don't want to do.
- If you make the money, you decide where you are going and what you are doing.
- 3. Don't ask a women what she wants to do.
- These two rules are simply about exhibiting confidence and being a "take-charge person."
- 4. Never tell a women how much money you make.
- 5. Don't EVER date co-workers!
- 6. Never answer the phone on the weekend.
- Tom always said that you should save your weekend time for hanging out with friends or family. You should keep your social life balanced and not let a new relationship or prospective casual date push your friends to the back burner.
- 7. Never spend more than 40 bucks on a date.
- Inflation adjusted: roughly $70 today. The idea behind this rule was to make sure that your date is actually interested in you, and not just "dating" to get someone to spend money on them.
- 8. NEVER approach a woman in a club who has her girlfriends with her.
- 9. If you are not getting laid by the 3rd date, dump her and move on.
- 10. No spooning, no cuddling, no staying over. Get in, get out!
- If a casual relationship is your goal, then this is probably a good idea. Spooning, cuddling, and staying over are about bonding, which can be great if you are looking for a long-term relationship though.
- 11. Never be in a committed relationship UNTIL you are 25 or really ready to settle down.
- When you are young, you tend to fall in love easily and make the mistake of thinking that you’ve found "the one" only to end up breaking up or getting divorced a couple of years later. It’s better to take some time to experience life and get your career going before you start looking for a serious relationship.
