- Meeting the robot’s advance, the Doctor grapples with the Terileptil’s servant, the two of them crashing through the glass of the lantern chamber and on to the narrow wooden balcony beyond.
- Their momentum is too great; the Time Lord and the android roll right off the edge of the balcony. The mechanical man plummets from the top of the tower, tumbling down the side of the cliff, and finally smashing to pieces on the jagged rocks at the edge of the sea.
- The Doctor, meanwhile, is left dangling from the groaning balcony by one hand.
- ‘Well, that didn’t go quite according to plan,’ he says, hauling himself back up on to the precarious platform, before stumbling back into the lantern room. The signalling device remains dormant.
