- The Tournament of Darkness, throughout history it has been known by many different names, but not by humanity at large. This is a tournament to decide the rulers of the supernatural world. As the tournament is established as a points based system in which fighters gain points by battling one another rather than by elimination so that three rulers may be found to act as a simple and straight forward check and balance, each given dominion over three of the nine obelisks of magic that control the mystic flow of the Earth.
- The tournament is held once every fifty years, the three winners of the previous tournament cannot compete in the next one; they can in one after that if they so wish, and are able to of course. There is however a way around that. Each of the three is to select four council members for themselves who can vote on decisions the winner makes before it goes before all three winners. Normally they just choose four allies or minions and such that would agree with them; to place a check on this one of the three winners of the previous tournament may challenge any one of the contestants; just once, and only one contestant, at any time before the inauguration ceremony of the three winners. If they defeat the contestant then should that contestant be a winner (a phrasing that usually results in one of the three winners being challenged in the period between winning and the inauguration), then the previous winner is given a spot on their council of four. Deciding to a fight a contestant before they are a winner is rare as should they be defeated later anyway, than the previous winner would have thrown away their chance to be on a council.
- Thus it is that the next tournament nears, the scouts of the current winners locating the strongest of all supernatural kind upon the Earth. However the tournament is voluntary, and anyone may enter who has knowledge of its existence and is not afraid. Word has it this year may be something special as ancient powers are from before the establishment of the tournament have begun to awaken.
