  1. Urban Dance is one of many Boris albums I know pretty much nothing about. I saw them live in what used to be my favourite venue in the year this album released, but if memory serves me well, they didn't tour to support the 2015 releases at all, at least in Europe. Instead we got a 10 year anniversary tour for Pink, which was fucking amazing, hearing the entire album live in all it's glory.

  3. Enough about Pink, when I mentioned wanting to listen through the entire Boris discography to a friend, he said that this album, as well as the other two 2015 releases would probably be quite a tough listen, due to the albums leaning heavily on the drone side of Boris's musical spectrum. It's definitely not something I'm a big fan of, and Urban Dancer is probably a bit more droney than I'd like. Supposedly this is the most easy-listening of the three 2015 releases, and so far it's looking like the rest will be rather rough.
  4. Nonetheless, there's still a few decent tracks on this album, but overall I'd say this is not an album I'd revisit. At most I would put Surrender and possibly Endless on a playlist.

  7. 1. "Un, deux, trois" (4:30)
  8. 2. "Surrender" (7:45)

  13. The intro 'Un, deux, trois' starts off with a rather grating noise track, with a little bit of structure to it, that initially was really unappealing, but after a while it got a bit better. The track ends fairly silent, to ease the transition to Surrender, which starts out pretty decent compared to the opener. It's a fairly laidback track with some light post-rock influences. Halfway through the track it becomes a bit more noisy for a short while, to then drop back to lighter sound from earlier. I feel like the vocals are above average for Boris, providing a decent layer above the rest of the track. The track varies between the lighter sections with vocals and some noisy sections. While the variation is pretty nice, I think I could do without the noise parts of the song.

  15. Choreographer is a return to the noisy drone that the album started with, but a little less unstructured than the first track. It doesn't really do anything for me, though I imagine that in a certain frame of mind, this would be alright to listen to.

  17. Endless starts out as another drone track, but this time far less noisy than the previous 2 drone tracks on the album. There's not a lot of variation to it at the start, consisting mostly of chords that are sustained for a very long time with some mild phaser applied on some of the instruments. About halfway through the track, the drums kick in, providing some nice, subdued drumming that in a way is reminiscent of some of the drums on both Amplifier Worship and Flood at times, especially because there's quite a bit of reverb on the drums. By far the most pleasant drone track on the album

  19. The last track, Game of Death, starts out sounding like a thunderstorm, with a bunch of rumbling and noisy discharges throughout. If that was the intention for this track, I'd say they were very successful.
