Unbanning a 3DS from Error 002-0102

If you get error code 002-0102, you need to swap your current LocalFriendCodeSeed_B with a public one. The error appears when viewing the Friend List or attempting to go online in a game. This method could also be used to exchange private seeds if you own more than one 3DS, but you almost certainly want to reserve that option for safer times. It has been suggested that using the same code on more than one 3DS simultaneously could lead to detection.

Note this doesn't cover unbanning from NNID services (like the eShop or Miiverse), which is a different kind of ban.

Download the latest public LocalFriendCodeSeed_B file from here and place it on your SD card.

The banned seed is easily replaced using any of the following three programs. Steps for making a private backup are very similar, though it is doubtful Nintendo will ever recant this type of ban. Any public LocalFriendCodeSeed_B will likely get banned eventually, so expect to repeat this guide some time in the future.

Launch FBI on your 3DS.

Select "SD", hover to your new LocalFriendCodeSeed_B file, select it and then choose "Copy". Press B until you're back to the main FBI menu.

Select "CTR NAND" and confirm. Then select "rw", then "sys", then "<current directory>" and finally choose "Paste".


___ GodMode9 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Launch GodMode9 on your 3DS. In Luma 7+ this is done by holding Start while turning the console on.

Select "[0:] SDCARD" and locate your replacement LocalFriendCodeSeed_B file. Highlight it and press Y once to copy file. Notice your [CLIPBOARD] in the top right. Spam B to return to the [root].

Select "[1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND", then go into "rw", then "sys".

Press Y to paste file. Choose "Move path(s)", and follow the prompts to unlock writing to SysNAND. Choose "Overwrite file(s)" and again, follow the prompts.

Put the LocalFriendCodeSeed_B file in the "files9" directory of your SD card. If it doesn't exist, create it manually.

Launch Decrypt9 on your 3DS. In Luma 7+ this is done by holding Start while turning the console on.

Select "SysNand Options", then "System File Inject" and then "Inject LocalFriendCodeSeed_B".

Follow the instructions on the screen.
