  1. Title: Cool Down!
  2. Procedure:
  3. 1. Build 3 12”x12”x12” houses by nailing pieces of ½” plywood together. The plywood I will be using is going to be pre-cut at the distributor. While hammering the houses together, I will wear goggles and thick gloves to protect our hands and eyes.
  4. 2. Using the Hy-Tech pre-mixed paint with insulating additive, I will paint one of the houses one the out side. The next house will be painted with regular paint on the outside. Finally, the last house will be left as just plain plywood.
  5. 3. After I let them set for a day, I will take all three of them outside on the same, sunny day.
  6. 4. I will place indoor/outdoor digital thermometer in the center of each box. I will place the outdoor probe outside the box to figure out the temperature outside the houses, while the indoor probe will be inside tracking the temperature inside.
  7. 5. Then, I will monitor the houses for 4 continuous hours and record the outside and inside temperature of each thermometer every hour.
  8. 6. For more accurate results, I will repeat steps 3-5 on 4 more sunny days. This will make for a total of 5 days worth of data.
  9. 7. Compare the data from each day and for each house. The one that stayed the coolest will be the one that is best to keep your house cool.
