  1. [21:18] Renly quickly hobbles over, almost dashing to close the distance before he'd stand off to the side.
  2.
  3. "..Uncle, they sound like they were made for nefarious reasons. Instead of murder them, or destroy them รขโ‚ฌยฆ Why don't we try and educate them, and teach them about.."
  4.
  5. He can already feel Finley's hatred in his direction, for suggesting it.
  6.
  7. "..balance? Try and fix 'em up? Make him into a better person?" He pondered. "If it can shapeshift it's body, maybe we can change it's mind too."
  8. (Renly)
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.
  11. [21:18] Ancelin says, "Ohhh. That's a new way of thinking."
  12. [21:19] Ancelin crosses his arms and nods. If the body is malleable, then the mind should be as well.
  13. (Ancelin)
  14. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15.
  16. [21:24] "There is no balance to them, Renly. They were made by dark cosmic magic and the blood of a witch. They're crafted for a vile purpose with little use to the living, parasites on our world." the High Lord held no value in these shapeshifters. They were shadows to him, monsters on the wall akin to demons and witches.
  17.
  18. His questioning came toward Narborea himself and the Terahpim asked, "Why should I let you live?"
  19.
  20. A heavy question, one that left the mimic's fate in his own hands. But was there a right answer?
  21. (Finn Ghede)
  22. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23.
  24. [21:28] Ancelin whispers: Wait. That /is/ a mimic, right?
  25. [21:28] Renly whispers: Apparently.
  26. [21:28] Ancelin whispers: Okay okay. I'm just going with context clues.
  27. [21:28] Renly whispers: Uncle Finn calls them shapeshifters.
  28. [21:29] Ancelin whispers: I heard others call them blobs.
  29. [21:36] His eyes traced back and forth between two discussing about him not really having much of an opinion regardless although as it ultimately came upon him he decided he might as well speak.
  30.
  31. "Why should you let me live?...That's quite a leading question isn't it." He said with a brief yawn in-between he seemed more drowsy than usual.
  32.
  33. "Well never killed or harmed anyone specially your people. Only ever fought to defend my life so I'm not really a threat. I tend to my garden and sell alchemy stuff to the impoverished. Usually how I spend my time."
  34.
  35. He glanced over towards Amalia they'd gone over that a few times but not in depth seeing as he usually wasn't in the talking mood. However he'd figured that wasn't enough to quell Finn's animosity towards him after hearing the parasite part. And Renly's request to educate them.
  36.
  37. "I may dress like a hobo but I do know plenty of your kind. You came from the spirit world when your mother called out to you. Gave you forms and allowed you to live here in this world. Balance wasn't it?" He knew they probably wouldn't apricate that comparison but he did so anyways
  38.
  39. "My situation isn't any different I was brought here against my will and Ordered to obey the will of those higher than myself Currently my only directive was to live and grow...And I've done that for myself and for my farm." Another sleepy tone escaped his lips as he sunk down onto the floor no longer being able to bear the weight of standing upright.
  40.
  41. A glance towards Finley and Renly once more before he sunk his hands in his pockets his violet eyes moving down to the floor. "Although you seem to have pure hatred for my mother I doubt anything I've said, Or can offer you will absolve that hatred. So what really is the point of answering it besides to hear myself talk." He shrugged he seemed rather unbothered by the whole thing apathetic to his life about to be taken.
  42. (Naborea)
  43. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  44.
  45. [21:37] Off to the side, Renly himself was primed and ready to make the same comparison that the mimic before him was going to make - that the mimics, too, were the counterpart to the Teraphim; summoned to create evil, only to make good by the witches.. Which could be done here.
  46.
  47. It would certainly require more effort.. Instead, he begins to space out, and his flow of time magic around his body weirdly enough begins to sync up with Ancelin's.
  48.
  49. Weird.
  50. (Renly)
  51. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  52.
  53. [21:39] The small Teraphim remained silent, merely watching for the moment.. What could she add that the High Lord could not?
  54. (Vaeri)
  55. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [21:42] Ancelin's oddly attentive for this back and forth between the Teraphim and mimic. That creature of black as sin sludge makes some rather interesting points. Intellectual discourse such as this is one of the few things which roused him from his state of apathy.
  58. (Ancelin)
  59. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  60.
  61. [21:53] Finn listened to the apathy, the reasonings, the fact that these things considered themselves alike to the Teraphim, that it would dare draw a comparison between Aschea and Nebula Lockwood. The unbiased mind might have agreed with him, and in truth, their origin stories weren't all that different, but this wasn't something the High Lord could suffer.
  62.
  63. Those tired eyes, the uncaring yawns-
  64. he had been told these creatures held proclivities toward corruption and sin, and he could guess what this ones was.
  65.
  66. "Sloth. A lazy shapeshifter then?" The air around Narborea cooled and Finn said, "You've lied to me. You claim to only defend yourself, yet I recall you joined alongside the shade of Asta on her hunt. You fought against Amy and Ro that very day with your brethren."
  67.
  68. "We aren't alike. The Teraphim are meant to defend life, you're meant to copy it, to emulate it. You steal where we guard."
  69.
  70. "You've failed in convincing me."
  71. (Finn Ghede)
  72. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  73.
  74. [22:05] He looked over towards Amy who was there during that fight it was only because of her that he lived that day he sighed. The monicker of the Lazy shapeshifter brought a few chuckles to him but he couldn't disagree with it.
  75.
  76.
  77. "Mmmh not necessarily a lie, More so a difference of perspective."
  78.
  79. "Its true I did fight along side Asta because I was ordered to go out and hunt. I'm unable to disobey commands from those in higher positions than me and I'm sure you all know how demanding Lady Asta can be regardless of that factor." He started picking his nose a little bit as he spoke
  80.
  81. "I had no choice in that matter and really I was trying to make sure myself and my brothers didn't die that day. I fought to defend myself from magi superior than me. If I had chosen to run away well...
  82.
  83. I would've surely been killed by Asta a lot sooner than if I hadn't stood my ground." The sleepy tone in his voice only got more and more apparent as he could feel the icy cold animosity of Finley reaching out especially as he said he failed.
  84.
  85. He could've went on about the topic of their similarities but it seemed there was no chance of that going forward he pondered for a moment thinking of any other options but none came to mind.
  86.
  87. "Isn't copying what all organism do? You learn from your parents, friends and other family. The people who surround you so you can fit perfectly in the society you're raised in. Everything has that instinct to learn and grow beyond what they are. My body is just more suited to do so in a different way." He shrugged again.
  88.
  89. "Although I've never taken a liking to becoming your kind. Ever since I've learned to maneuver in this world I've always stuck to my own self image. Nothing about you humans seems worthy of copying..." He pressed his finger on the collar he was wearing and sighed...
  90. (Naborea)
  91. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  92.
  93. [22:06] Ancelin stands there in the line of nigh-identical greycloaks, scoffing at Naborea's claim that copying is what all organisms do.
  94. (Ancelin)
  95. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  96.
  97. [22:09] Fala respectfully stays out of the lineup. The time squad is something to be respected- something to be feared.
  98. (Fala Ziazan)
  99. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. [22:10] Renly stands off to the side in the gradient of Teraphim, half Teraphim human, and simple human/beastkin. He stares forward and doesn't really know what to say.
  102.
  103. If the mimic screwed this up for himself, there was nothing that he could do. The best he could do was give a man his final honor: watching him die.
  104. (Renly)
  105. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  106.
  107. [22:11] Renly whispers: I think he's gonna mess this up for himself. Uncle Finn's always been a little racist.
  108. [22:11] Ancelin whispers: Yeah... Shame. Really does seem like it could be... Molded into something better.
  109. [22:12] Vaeri whispers: It's okay to be racist if they aren't a person, right..?
  110. [22:12] Vaeri glances over towards Renly, then back to the scene.
  111. (Vaeri)
  112. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  113.
  114. [22:12] Renly whispers: But he could be a person. Maybe. Under all the gooey exterior, Vaeri.
  115. [22:13] Ancelin whispers: It's something new, with unknown potential...
  116. [22:13] Vaeri whispers: Hm... Didn't they come from an evil space rock?
  117. [22:16] Renly whispers: I think they did.
  118. [22:18] Vaeri whispers: Does that mean they're just... evil egg yolk from a giant space egg..?
  119. [22:18] Renly whispers: I guess that's a way to put it.
  120. [22:22] "Unable to disobey commands?" Finn frowned. "Then you lack free will. You truly are pitiful things forged without love. This is the difference between us. The Teraphim are capable of choosing for themselves, we lead our own lives and our own paths. Your kind is nothing more than a collected, spilled puddle of witch's blood."
  121.
  122. He raised his crystal hand, the blue color to accented the frosty outer coating that covered the limb. This thing picked its nose, continued yawning. It didn't fear that it was facing execution, and even if it spoke more on the matter of its existence, the High Lord wasn't to be swayed.
  123.
  124. "If killing you provokes more of your kind to show themselves, then at least something productive will have come out of all of this. There's still a poor reflection of my High Lady out there somewhere, and it's my duty to put her to rest."
  125.
  126. The High Lord's crystal palm pressed against Naborea's chest, and to the mimic it might as well have been the equivalent of a sparked and glowing piece of hot metal, though its temperature was quite the opposite. It was clear Finn intended to freeze Naborea where he stood, effectively putting the creature to rest.
  127.
  128. "You may speak some final thoughts. But from everything you've said, I feel as though I'm doing some sort of mercy in this as I release whatever inkling of sentience Nebula sewed within you."
  129. (Finn Ghede)
  130. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  131.
  132. [22:28] "Killing me is your way to defend life...Well I understand. I'll regret not being able to thank the people who helped me purchase my farm house...and all my crops will wither and die without me...Besides that I don't have anyone else to thank...Hmm."
  133.
  134. He thinks about it for a moment before pointing towards Renly.
  135.
  136. "Oh I'd like to thank that boy for his attempt to save my life and the woman behind you for at least trying to speak to me and saving my life that day." He'd pondered at another point when Finley claimed his death would cause more mimics to seek revenge.
  137.
  138. "Mh honestly my death will have the opposite effect. It'll send a shock to the collective forcing those who are hiding. Even the ones stationed here to go further into hiding."
  139.
  140. As the hand was set near his chest have was preparing for death. "As I've said before I cannot abolish the hatred you have for my mother but one day it will destroy you too. She's dead. And what remains of the Coven is scattered Mimics and Demons. I'll help you hunt them if it gives me a little longer to live."
  141.
  142. That was the best he could offer really But it seems the Teraphrim's mind was made up to him it was a Mercy.
  143. (Naborea)
  144. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  145.
  146. [22:34] Renly brings a hand to his chest, unsure of what to say. He knew that it would actually be stupid if he tried to oppose his uncle at this point.. He wasn't his nephew in a matter like this-- rather, a Greycloak, who followed the orders of the High Lord.
  147.
  148. What could he do? It almost broke his heart.
  149.
  150. So, the only thing that happens with Renly is him looking on-- concern, fear, everything within him displayed in a single expression.
  151. (Renly)
