- Whatever it was expecting us to do, it wasn’t this. Viola strikes it squarely in the narrow, armored center of its thorax. She grabs hold, slicing through the skin of her hands in the process, and there’s blood, blood, blood, because she was designed to pass as human; she needed to bleed when someone cut her. There’s blood as she begins to punch and kick the creature, which makes a terrible sound, thin and insectile and somehow carrying, like a roar pushed through a different sort of lungs.

- Viola is still hitting the creature, but it’s hurting her a lot more than she could possibly hurt it. She’s just one unarmed android shaped like a sickly teenage girl, and it’s a knife that hunts, a weapon that moves and thinks and kills. This fight was never hers to win.
