  1. My strengths were identified as context, strategic, futuristic, learner, and intellection. These strengths speak to my tendency to want to have a plan and learn from the past to intelligently take on the future. I've always been interested in history, and I feel like the more we understand about what has taken place in the past, the better we can understand our present situation. I like to think in terms of the big picture and finding concrete steps to get from point A to point B.
  2. At Turning, these strengths have helped me to establish a routine and stay on top of the workload, as well as manage my time in general. Also, I'm glad I spent so much time studying on my own in the months leading up to my start at Turing, as it's definitely saved me a lot of stress. My experience in mod 1 has built upon the material I began studying last year. Instead of feeling completely overwhelmed, I feel like the projects and challenges over the last few weeks have just solidified my understanding, and improved my efficiency and speed. I'm definitely very motivated to learn and work on code here, and I've really enjoyed working through the projects. Some of my struggles have come up in pair projects in which I felf like I was doing more than my fair share of the work or that I was working with a partner who was less motivated. I tried to approach it as an exercise in patience, to do what I could to encourage and prop up my parter. The pair projects that went the best involved clear DTRs, and regular pairing sessions and communication. It was nice to start on projects early and front-load as much as possible.
  3. One of the best aspects of the story telling excersise last week, was practicing summing up my life story and reasons for who I am and where I am today. It also was helpful in identifying and expressing what I want, and thinking about the future in more concrete terms. Talking about where I had stalled out or become dissatisfied was a little bit of a challenge, but maintaining a growth mindset in telling the story made it flow better. In that way I didn't feel guilty about not making a change sooner, or feel like I needed to make excuses or explain myself. It was more about embracing what it is that makes me and my jouney unique, and the perspective and wisdom I gained along the way. Every success and every falure is both valuable and fleeting. Time wizzes on, and it's important to embrace challenge and change. It feels good to truly believe that I'm on the right track, that I am capable of success, and that I am destined to excell in whatever I choose to do.
