- As the Doctor runs to stop the Terileptil from activating the beacon, the android takes aim with its handgun and fires.
- The blast misses the Doctor but strikes the lantern mirror, bouncing off it and hitting the alien device. There is an explosion of sparks and the device bursts into flames.
- The force of the blast sends the Doctor reeling, and before he knows it he’s tumbling backwards down the stairs, head over heels, all the way to the bottom.
- It is then that a secondary explosion occurs, and the top of the lighthouse is consumed by an expanding ball of unleashed energy.
- As shards of stone and charred, broken beams rain down around him, the Doctor picks himself up and flees. He is bruised and battered, but he is still alive, unlike the Terileptil. Plus, he is a Time Lord and more resilient than many other humanoid life forms.
- There is nothing more to be done here. The Terileptil is dead, its android destroyed and the mystery that led the Doctor to this point solved.
