Alone and Afraid

My heart is a cell
My mind makes it my special hell
No light shines in the dark place
Death, please come and make haste.

There is neither night nor day
Darkness is always here anyway
A room filled with darkness and dread
Leaving me in silence with my own head

I hold myself like shattered glass
Waiting for this lonely pain to pass
The tears fall like rain upon earth
Was this my fate decided upon birth?

In this lonely cell, I rest here
Alone in the world and paralyzed by fear
A punishment fit for such a tragic case
As I wait for a day where I'm gone without a trace.
