- ThatBaka:
- On the previous Gaiden, uncovered the box of secret goodies from dirty Sanchez, and what followed was a giant shootout of epic proportions and lots of replicant-ing. After that frightening scene, your story made some headlines, and you were treated to a moment of much-needed rest. But it wasn't soon before you had to observe just what on earth this mystery box entailed.
- ThatBaka: (( *YOU uncovered the box, I'm off to a great start ))
- Strider Azure: (( is it just MT's part, or do you want to do parts of mine later on? Cool either way. ))
- BU2B: (( don't you mean it wasn't LONG before? (waiting) ))
- BU2B: (( your start keeps getting better ))
- ThatBaka:
- You're too far ahead right now, so we're probably gonna focus on MT
- ThatBaka:
- it indeed does
- BU2B: (( we just have four different side sessions this week - Twilt's, Darius', MT's, and Al's ))
- Linne:
- Linne rests her fingers on her chin, looking somewhat disappointed. "It's all a bunch of old junk at first glance. I suppose it must be valuable, but it doesn't tell us much of what made this payload so damn important as to risk their lives over it."
- Chris: (( Also, for some reason I can't delete the Ci on this map lol ))
- Ci:
- Cieling Ci watches you masterbate 눈_눈
- BU2B: (( ciel-ing Ci? ))
- Chris: (( *Banpai ))
- Chris: (( You know she was putting that invisibility to good use. ))
- Chris: (( If I was invisible, I would just watch you in your room. ))
- BU2B: (( you'd be watching me dig dust out of my computer tower with a knife ))
- Linne:
- She follows up with a bang on her table. "But enough about that. I've been long overdue for an explanation here."
- Chris:
- Chris looks up with a start. Before Linne banged on the table, he appears to be lost in thought, his right hand propping up his head as he tries to piece together the importance of the random briefcase junk, "Whoa, what's up?"
- Linne:
- Linne shoots you an untrustworthy glance. "Were you paying attention at all? We may be partners, but I've made it abundantly clear I plan on cracking just what's the case behind these 'replicants.' Starting with yours."
- Chris:
- "I've been trying to figure out what's so special about this stuff here. It just looks like junk paperwork and such." Chris adjusts his glasses, "And I've told you, I plan on giving you whatever answers I can. . .no need to make an interrogation out of it."
- Linne:
- Linne adjusts her cap and clears her throat. "Sorry. I'm not used to finally having another user to talk to. Feels more and more like some kind of 'secret club' I was never invited to. Anyway..."
- tirkaroKujo:
- The goods in the box seem to be stacks upon stacks of old, rough-looking papers scribbled on in a mutitude of languages, some in english, some in Japanese, and some in a strange language you're not familiar with. Some detail what seem to be old-fashioned occultist rituals, while other detail a few maps, but they're hard to decode. Next to it is some boxes containing what look like small old statues and artifacts, depicting some humanoid figures.
- Linne:
- "So...you have any idea when your 'special ability' manifested? Were you even aware of it?"
- Linne:
- Linne looks at her book of notes, and nervously glances around in case anyone else may be dropping in.
- Chris:
- Chris mulls it over for a second, trying to place exactly the first time he became aware of Celldweller's existence. "Hrmm, I would say probably when I was eighteen or nineteen." The young man chuckles to himself, "Damn near gave me a heartattack."
- Linne:
- "I see...consider yourself...lucky? You've certainly had your ability longer than I have. It's certainly a unique specimen..." Linne jots down a few notes.
- Linne:
- "Next, I want to ask you something. Don't worry, you won't get in trouble if you ask honestly, I just feel I need this answer: Have you ever allowed your Replicant to cause harm to another human being?"
- Linne:
- "Well, prior to joining the force of course. You don't need to explain what happened prior to today."
- Chris:
- "Prior to the force? No. I've never been one for fighting and I know all too well that causing trouble like that, even if it is with something most people can't see, is a fast track to having your dreams of being an officer shot down." Chris adjusts his glasses once more, "Besides, I try to limit my use of Celldweller as much as I can. Having one of these 'Replicants' tends to make you a target for other users. I'm sure you've experienced that yourself."
- Linne:
- "I theorize that's exactly how it works. Hearing from reports, a common phenomenon is the tendency for replicant users to attract one another by circumstance. In fact, we may have just been subject to it right now. Funny how that works, huh?" Linne taps her pen on her chin.
- Chris:
- "It's all very possible. I've-" Chris stops mid-sentence as he hears someone step into the room. "-Found nothing of particular interest here. It may've just been a red herring." He finishes without missing a beat.
- Copeland:
- Chief Copeland knocks on the door, but quickly excuses himself in before you can respond. "Excuse me? Hope I'm not running into anything too personal here..."
- Linne:
- Linne shakes her head. "It's nothing. What's the situation, Copeland?"
- Copeland:
- "Yes, well, first I want to say congratulations for the stunning takedown yesterday. But don't relax just yet. We have another case for you two. I'd like to say it's one less inclined towards senseless carnage, but..."
- Chris:
- "Things tend to turn that way on a whim in this city, don't they?"
- Linne:
- Linne puts her head down. "Just give us the report, Cope. We'll see to it. C'mon Chris, we can continue talking about this in the car."
- Chris:
- Chris stands up and pushes his chair back in, "Of course. Ladies first."
- Copeland:
- "Godspeed then, officers." Copeland hands you the papers and quickly makes on his way.
- Linne:
- Linne holds her cap and looks down at the reports. Seems there's been two seperate incidents going on. One involving an unknown assailant in a large vehicle, and another involving an officer being killed by brutal means. It's largely believed these two incidents are related.
- Chris:
- "Think it's another user?"
- Linne:
- Linne pulls down the peak of her cap. "Think so? At this point, I know so." She moves towards the car, and enters the seat.
- Chris:
- "Tch, guess that's sort of a no brainer at this point, hmm?"
- Linne:
- "Going by these descriptions, it seems the officer was killed by head trauma so great, his cranial region shattered like glass. I wonder just what the purpose of that is..."
- Linne:
- Linne gives a deep sigh and drives off. "I'm not even sure who the hell got killed here...but I'll make them pay. One way or another."
- Chris:
- "Intimidation, I'd assume. No real reason for it otherwise." Chris glances out the window as they drive, "Wouldn't be surprised if this was directed at us for our involvement last night..."
- Linne:
- "Such backhanded behavior I've come to expect from this place's seedy underbelly..." Linne stares forward with increased determination. "Another thing I need to ask you; Ever have any encounters with other replicants prior to our meeting?"
- Chris:
- "A few. This city seems to be a hotspot for them although I can't seem to figure out why." The young man lets out a sigh before continuing his window staring, "New Easton is plenty violent on its own, so I can only assume that's part of the reason users are drawn here.
- Chris:
- "
- Linne:
- "Tell me about it...Ah, here. This must be the scene of the crime..." You drive up to a crowded scene, with the forensics crew analyzing every minute detail. "May as well extort some answers here."
- Chris:
- "Extort is such a nasty word for it," Chris replies with a grin.
- Sanglier:
- One of Linne's more heavyset partners looks around the scene, telling outsiders to back off as per usual. He of course makes an exception for you. "Ah, Offisaur Linne! And dat otha guy! I tells ya, some real punkasses out dere...got some nerve tryin' to start this with the force!"
- Chris:
- Chris glances around, surveying the area. "Do they have an estimated time of death yet?"
- Sanglier:
- "Pretty dang recent, really. Dannie's feedback went flat about an hour or two ago. It's a cryin' shame."
- Chris: (( What time is it now? ))
- Linne:
- Linne opens her eyes. "Did...did you say Dannie? You can't mean, -that- Dannie, right?"
- Sanglier:
- "Ooooh yeah, he worked with your pops back then in the past, didn't he? Man, that guy's been around for a while."
- Sanglier: (( it's pretty late, about 6 or 7:30 or so ))
- Sanglier: (( actually probably just 7:30 ))
- Linne:
- "Damn..." Linne rubs her chin. "No doubt about it...whoever is doing this is playing hard. The bastard..."
- Chris:
- "That early? So the killing took place most likely during a fairly busy time...were there any witnesses?" Chris turns to Linne, "Someone you knew?"
- Linne:
- Linne sighs. "I know just about everyone on the force. We're not very well-spread these days. Still, Dannie was always like an uncle to me. We didn't get along very well all the time, but...damn. I can't believe he's just...gone like that. So quickly."
- Sanglier:
- "Not many witnesses, strangely enough, but we do have enough info. Seems it was a mysterious figure, obscured in smoke all the time. Must've been the work of smoke bombs."
- Chris:
- "I can only wonder if this was intended to be personally directed at you..." Chris pauses for a moment, "Smoke bombs...? I wonder if that figure I saw at the last crime scene had something to do with this...?"
- Sanglier:
- "He was also being followed by a large vehicle. Some say it was a bus. Or a truck. Nobody's really given us a good look at da thing. Eitha way, must have an asston of potential perps on our hands."
- Linne:
- "Whoever it is, let it be known: The fist of justice is gonna crash down on them like a meteor shower. Every last one of 'em..."
- Chris:
- "Tchhhhh..." Chris runs his hand through his hair, "If only we knew where to start..."
- Thrice is disconnected.
- Linne:
- "Kuh...has there at least been any reports on where this mystery man and his vehicle was recently?"
- Sanglier:
- Sanglier shakes his head. "Closest thing we've heard is that it took to the highway past New Hope and Bicknell, or at least that's where it was before. No telling if it's anywhere close anymore."
- Linne:
- "Then screw it. We're starting there. C'mon Chris, we got a case on our hands."
- Chris:
- "Right..." Chris nods and heads back to the car, "If only we had some solid leads to go off of..."
- Linne:
- Linne gives a hearty sigh. "I'm all too used to having no solid leads these days. Say what you will about replicants, but goddamn are they hard to track. They leave no fingerprints, little real evidence, and what evidence exists is far too absurd for most people to comprehend. And there's the whole reality-bending angle to it, aarrgghhh..."
- Linne:
- She sits in the car and fires it up. "But that won't stop me. I'll spend all day looking for these freaks if I have to. It's not just about duty. It's about doing what's right."
- Chris:
- "On the bright side, some of these scumbags are far too willing to summon up their Replicants at every chance they get...it's the ones that hide it that are the real problem."
- Linne:
- Linne floors it, blinking undettered as the city scenery goes by. "I get the feeling our more dangerous friends may be catching on soon. Thankfully, a lot of them are blissfully incompetant."
- Chris:
- "..." Chris fastens his seatbelt as Linne picks up the speed, "Likewise, I have a feeling that their target was intentionally picked as someone close to you. I'm sure word has spread among their circles as to who took that briefcase." Chris pauses for a second and sighs, "I'd be legitimately surprised if they didn't know more or less everythng about us at this point."
- Linne:
- Linne's expression only grows ever more mellow. "No need to tell me that. Be you cop, scumbag, or anassuming busybody, you're probably a constant target for anyone else afflicted by these powers. It's like something out of a comic book...except these superpowers are far easier to hide..."
- Linne:
- "And it's one thing to target us, but to target everyone around us as well? That's just plain dirty. I'd expect no less...but it's still dirty."
- Chris:
- "...speaking of comic books. At the restaurant last night, after we took care of that Replicant...I mentioned it but never really got to explain." Chris clears his throat and glances out the window once more, "I saw someone outside. Looked like a goddamn ninja, had a sword and everything. He was only there for a splitsecond before he ran off.
- Linne:
- "I heard you mention that before. Think he's connected to this mess or something? Wait, why am I asking...of course he is..."
- Chris:
- "I don't know who the hell he was, but it looks like we've got nutbar vigilantes running around...give people power and they'll think they can do anything...for better or worse."
- Linne:
- "That's one upside I guess. We're not entirely alone in this. These freaks are really good at picking eachother off. It's just like Misfortune Mayhem in a way. Still, I'd prefer to not rely on thier buffoonery too much."
- Chris:
- "And that's the downside, they're too good at picking each other off. When they have the power to solve their own problems, they'll solve them with deadly force. It's human nature, so it seems."
- Chris:
- "Also..." Chris turns to Linne, changing the subject, "Since you asked me, I feel it's only right that I'm able to ask you. When did you discover you had a Replicant?"
- Linne:
- "Heh. I was waiting for you to ask..." Linne makes a sharp right turn. "To be honest, I discovered it while locked in combat with another user. If it didn't awaken right then and there, I'd be deader than a doornail."
- Linne:
- "It wasn't a really glamorous fight. The damn punk lured me into a hallway, and unleashed a giant, black...thing. I'm not even sure how to describe it."
- Chris:
- "Perhaps this means the Replicants are summoned when the user is in danger. Or perhaps it just has to do with their current emotional state. Anger, perhaps? Fear? Maybe it's different for each person..."
- Linne:
- "Fear? Anger? I certainly felt a good mixture of those. Certainly, these replicant-using types tend to fall under a few noticable archetypes. They often stand out in a way."
- Linne:
- "Of course, when it did awaken, I well...I ened up killing the assailant. In fact, I'll let you in on a little secret. I have a habit of killing these users after all is said and done. I mean, these battles are pretty lethal..."
- Chris:
- "...so I assume that's part of why you asked me the second question?" Chris once more turns to face out the window, analyzing Linne's behavior. "Now...did you tell me that because you trust me. . .or simply because you know nobody would believe me if I told anyone due to it being Replicant related?"
- Linne:
- "..." Linne drives for a moment in silence. "I just needed to come clean."
- Linne:
- "I just know that there's no reliable way to contain them. Put them in jail? They'll break out before you know it. We're talking about freaks with hidden superpowers here. Very few people know how to deal with them....so I just..."
- Chris:
- "Well your secret's safe with me...but I'd be lying if I didn't say you're treading risky ground with that logic." He stops and adjusts his glasses, still facing away from Linne, "It's dangerous to play judge, jury and executioner...for a multitude of reasons."
- Linne:
- Linne begins to turn sullen. "I know, it's just...if I could somehow change everyone, I could but it...it's just hard...it's just..." Linne's stops the car, realizing she can proceed no further. This is because a droopy man is shambling in front of it.
- Droopy man:
- "Uuugh uuuuu" He moans, clutching his head.
- Chris:
- "I didn't mean to tear you down on that one. . ." Chris mutters, turning to face Linne, unaware of why she stopped. His attention however is drawn to the man in the middle of the road. "Tch, drunks in the way...why am I not surprised."
- Linne:
- "Kuh. Typical. Hold on, I'll handle this.." Linne opens the car door.
- Droopy man:
- "Uuuugh uuuu" the man moans some more.
- Linne:
- "Alright, alright, just get off the road now and..."
- Sattelite High:
- Once the man turns around, it's revealed that a strange creature has been chewing at the back of his head.
- Chris:
- From the car, Chris spots a strange figure latched onto the man, "Linne!" The young man gets out of the car in a hurry, his gun drawn, "Looks like we've got one...!"
- Linne:
- "Huh?" Linne looks closer, and then draws her gun once she realizes what's going on. "Figures. It's the work of a replicant user..."
- Droopy man:
- "Uuururuuuruuuuu!" The zombified man rushes forth at Linne, attempting to pin her down
- Chris: (( Anything I can roll to stop him short of an Init roll? ))
- Linne:
- Linne just barely holds off the shambling husk of a man with her arms. "D-damn! Shoot it already!"
- Linne: (( jsut an attack roll ))
- Chris:
- « 1d6 = 5 »
- Sattelite High:
- "Kreeee!" The fishy-looking thing gets shot in the head, falling to the ground, and disinegrates into a puddle of blood.
- Linne:
- Linne gets herself together and kicks the husk down. "Shit..." She takes a deep breath. "Hell was that?"
- Chris:
- "Zombies?" Chris replies with a grin.
- Linne:
- Linne shudders. "Don't even joke about that. I hate zombies."
- Chris:
- "Really? Don't really seem the type to be spooked by b-movie monsters."
- Linne:
- Linne steps forward, gun drawn, looking for who may be the perpetrator here. "I avoid horror movies for a reason. Who the hell wants to see exploitative garbage like that? Not me, for sure. "
- Chris:
- This news amuses Chris to no end, "What about Night of the Living Dead? Dawn of the Dead? Day of the Dead? None of that?"
- Linne:
- "Alright, whoever's doing this better come out now..." Linne quietly whispers as she looks around with her gun, scanning the unusually empty highway road.
- Linne:
- "No, no, nothing with Dead in the title! God damn!"
- Chris:
- "Heh, calm down, I'm just trying to lighten the mood..." Chris examines the body to see if he's still breathing.
- Droopy man:
- The man seems to be just barely breathing. His head isn't in very good condition and kinda bleeding out, but y'know, he's breathing.
- Chris:
- "...joking aside, we should call this one in. He's losing a lot of blood..."
- Linne:
- "Alright, just call an ambulance. I'll just have to check a little here if...okay seriously, if anyone, ANYONE is out there, say something!"
- Sattelite High:
- "Squiru?" A small fishy thing pops out from the corner to see just why there's such a ruckus
- Chris:
- Chris picks up the radio and makes a call requesting an ambulance to their location. He also keeps periodically touching the back of his head uneasily, as if reassuring himself nothing is there.
- Linne:
- "Well, at least there's one of them. The user anywhere? This is just getting annoy-"
- Sattelite High:
- A whole swarm of these things pop in from the corner, as the sound of large squeaky wheels come rumbling in.
- Chris:
- "...we may need a backup unit here as well, asap!" Chris hangs the radio back up and steps forward to stand next to Linne, "Well this went to shit fast, hmm?"
- Linne:
- Linne begins to scowl and holds her gun up. "What a strange replicant...but at least it's not shy in the slightest. Now show yourself, heathen!"
- tirkaroKujo:
- ~Squeeeeeeee....~ The sound of a large, rusted vehicle rings through the air as the user finally shows itself off in the corner.
- Crazy Bus:
- "Vrrrrmrmrmrmrrrrrr...." Its engine rumbles in a low tone. A bus comes out from the corner, absolutely swarmed in those bat things, from its roof to its window.
- Linne:
- Linne steps back. "Th-that's...I think I've heard of that thing before..."
- Chris:
- "A bus...well that's one strange mode of transportation I guess..."
- Linne:
- "That's the 'haunted bus' from all those freakish stories. Shoulda seen replicants being behind this mess from the start....still, what could it possibly have to do with the people who killed Dannie? This just doesn't make sense..."
- Chris:
- "An inanimate object with a Replicant...? Never seen that..."
- Crazy Bus:
- "VrrrmrmmmrrRRRRRR..." The bus begins to roar its engine
- Linne:
- "There's something fishy about this and I don't like it one bit...damn. I'm not about to let it get away so easily..."
- Crazy Bus:
- 'VRRRMMM!" The engine grows increasingly agitated
- Strider Azure: (( >Crazy bus ))
- Strider Azure: (( top lel ))
- Chris:
- The young man shrugs, "This is just getting ridiculous..." He looks at the bus, partially puzzled by the situation, "I guess we're going to have to take it down though. . ."
- Crazy Bus:
- "VRRRM!" The angry bus charges forward, just barely scraping by Linne.
- Linne:
- "Guhr...FUCK! Get in the car! We'll have to do this the hard way!"
- Chris:
- "...what're you planning?!"
- Crazy Bus:
- The bus turns around and charges back, onto the open road.
- Chris:
- "...shit!"
- Linne:
- "We're going after that bus, that's what!"

- With a terrible scream of agony, Celldweller tears itself free from the frame that binds it! Thrusting its arms forward, chains tears free from its palms, stabbing into the back of the speeding truck! With tremendous force, Celldweller yanks the bus backwards a small ways, pulling it to a relative stop...or at least halting it momentarily! That's all the replicant needs however as a black cage surrounds it fully, obscuring the crazy bus! Moments later, a shower of steel bars come flying in from seemingly nowhere, each stabbing through the black void and into the bus!
- BU2B:
- not quite, but you're getting close
- Celldweller:
- After a moment, Celldweller is bound again, the black void vanishing around Crazy Bus to reveal that it's punctured repeatedly by metal bars all throughout its frame! « 1d10+6 = 9 + 6 = 15 »

- Crazy Bus:
- "Creeakkkkscrrrrrcchhhh...." The fuming vehicle begins to slow itself down...until it finally breaks down into a heap of junk, its tires breaking off
- Police Car:
- Also the car kinda falls down, with a THUD!
- Sattelite High 2:
- And the mantas themselves fall to the ground, utterly defeated, disintegrating into a thick puddle of blood.
- Chris:
- Chris scrambles out of the car, his glasses askew as he pants in exhaustion? Fear? Who knows. "Oh God...that....that was terrible..."
- Linne:
- Linne leaps from the roof, adjusting her cap. "Well, at least that's one mystery solved. But it's still not enough..."
- Linne:
- "Like just what was that cop killer doing with this thing? And for what purpose?"
- Chris:
- Chris slowly climbs to his feet and leans on the car, "I'm more wondering...how the hell a bus gets a Replicant...even if it is supposed to be haunted...."
- Linne:
- Linne tries to deduct the situation. "Y'know, it's gonna be hard to apply logic to things like this...but I'm starting to suspect this bus didn't just magically get a replicant out of nowhere. This might be the work of someone...I'm just not sure how." Linne gives a sigh.
- Chris: (( IF ONLY THERE WAS SOME WEIRD OBJECT THAT GAVE PEOPLE REPLICANTS. . . ))
- Thrice:
- IF ONLY ANYONE INTELLIGENT HAD THAT OBJECT
- Chris:
- Chris dismisses Celldweller before approaching Linne and the bus. "So you're suggesting someone gave a Replicant to an inanimate object?" He mulls this over for a second, " I mean...I suppose it could act as an effective weapon, assuming it obeys who gave it its powers...goddamn this sounds crazy."
- Linne:
- "Well assuming that's true, this whole mess has to account for something. Can't say we don't have a bounty of evidence right now. But I'm more concerned with finding our killer here...and just what source is spitting these out..."
- Chris:
- "That's half of the mystery stopped at least. We've taken out the mystery armored vehicle the killer was with, that's a start." He stares at the bus for a moment before turning to Linne, "Does the fact that we just spent all that time fighting a haunted bus not phase you in the least?"
- Thrice:
- You killed the Mystery Machine!
- Thrice:
- What a bastard (D)
- Linne:
- Linne leans on the dented, busted car and takes a long breath. "I can't see why it would. It's not like it's a ~zombie~ bus or anything..." Linne takes out her walkie talkie and calls for the crew to salvage whatever they can from the machine.
- Chris:
- Chris chuckles to himself, "Still can't believe you're afraid of zombies, heh."
- Linne:
- "This is three times more zombies in the scope of a few sentences than I'm willing to put up with..." Linne swallows some spit and gives an audiable bleeeh.
- ThatBaka:
