  2. fieryUSA
  3. i'm FOR the death penalty, for douchebag hunters like that.
  4. Monfd
  5. Hunting is less evil than factory farming.
  6. Monfd
  7. Therefore, if you eat meat, you're less ethical than hunters.

  11. bullshit. until humans evolve out of eating meat, i can accept factory farming, and hunting for food. there is at least an end result based on necessity. there is NO reason to kill hibernating bears...which isn't even 'hunting'.
  12. fieryUSA
  13. it's just bloodlust
  14. Monfd
  15. Saying "bullshit" isn't valid.
  16. Monfd
  17. It's a meaningless idiom. Now, let me look at your content.
  18. Monfd
  19. fieryUSA: Humans invent technology that change themselves and their landscape. Humans have changed their environment faster than any organism in the history of Earth.
  20. Monfd
  21. What does this mean? It means that strategies that worked for us in the past no longer necessarily work for us in the present, with 7.7 billion people living in urbanized civilization.
  22. Monfd
  23. Humans ate meat in the past, and it was useful for our species. However, eating meat is no longer useful for our species -- it's harmful.
  24. 12:31 Monfd
  25. You mention necessity. Eating meat is the opposite of a necessity, today, actually -- it's a harmful luxury.
  26. 12:32 Monfd
  27. The eating of meat at the modern large scale requires massive water and land usage is that is unsustainable for our global population.
  28. Monfd
  29. This is not my opinion -- it's scientific consensus.
  30. Monfd
  31. The UN has published several documents to this effect.
  32. Monfd
  33. As well as various water organizations across the planet.
  34. Monfd
  35. Also, climate change is becoming an existential threat to the human species.
  36. Monfd
  37. Factory farming is the primary contributor to climate change, ahead of transportation (cars, boats, aircraft). The practice of eating meat -- useful in our past -- is now an existential threat to our continued existence.
  38. Fear

  42. Monfd
  43. Next, humans do not require meat to live healthy lives. In fact vegetarian diets are MORE healthy.

  46. Monfd
  47. I haven't even yet mentioned ethics.
  48. Monfd
  49. Technology changes ethics dramatically.
  50. Monfd
  51. Our ancestors probably did not think robustly about the ethics of eating animals -- it's what omnivores just do. This isn't good enough for us.
  52. Monfd
  53. Scientific research of animals indicates that it is probably quite unethical to eat anything with a face.
  54. Monfd
  55. So, fieryUSA, I hope that you see that when you advocate meat eating, in the present era, you're actually threatening human civilization.
  56. 12:36 Monfd
  57. As well as advocating a very unethical, and less healthy practice.
  58. Thor_dk
  59. I'm not sure people will ever stop eating meat... but I'm hopeful when it comes to growing meat from cell cultures.
  60. Monfd
  61. This is why factory farming is much, much, much less ethical than hunting.
  62. Monfd
  63. Including killing hibernating bears.
